I like to think that the reason why we haven't heard about the Chimera being 'The Demigod killer' is because no demigod survived to tell the tale
I'm glad they added Poseidon saving Percy with the water extending to grab him since they cut Grover using the shoes (if anyone remembered he had them) and Rick didn't know the Arch is NOT above water, plus shows Po does care
I honestly think its hilarious that with allllll the research Riordan did for the series he spaced on verifying that the arch was over water 😂 Makes me feel a little better about my own research blunders.

@@JonSoloI mean the first book was written in 2005. Not sure how good google or other search engines were for specific monuments. Still a hilarious mistake for the locals (Same with Rick thinking that Frank would be teased about being Asian in Vancouver when like the city is like 40% Asian. They're like the 2nd biggest demographic in the city)

@AnimeAngel4ever200 wow in 2005? They only started to be popular much later. I think it was when the awful movie came out. I read them around the same time as that.
I like to think Echidna just sees a random monster and goes "you're my kid now"
A retcon that could clear things up. Maybe in this universe echidna considers all monsters her children but isnt the actual biological mother. The “mother of all monsters” could be a title because of her large amount of monster children she’s protective towards other monsters. Maybe she does some kind of metaphorical adoption to the monsters. Kinda like how in the MCU, Thanos would adopt some individuals to be part of his army. They would then become “children of Thanos” That way it doesn’t really conflict with the lore too much.
I think echidna just assumed. Percy said “we’ve fought tons of monsters” and she just assumed they were hers. Realistically she would have no way to know what exact monsters Percy has fought, all she knows is that demigods in the wild usually encounter her children

Remember Zeus is sometimes called Father of the Gods when he's also got his Olympian siblings and the fact that Aphrodite is usually considered born from Ouranos' nuts thrown in the ocean and he just adopts her as a daughter when she's married off to Hephaestus and that there are thousands of minor gods who aren't his children, so it's well just a kinda king title.
I’ve enjoyed every episode so far. I never really found it to be boring. I don’t know anything about Percy Jackson besides your videos and this series. I probably wouldn’t have watched it at all if not for your channel. Thanks!

The Chimera design in this was AWESOME
It had an excellent blend of the mammal and reptilian aspects the Chimera is known for
Also a mistake from the books they fix in the show is the chimera being a “she” like the og myths when the books make it a “he”.
Tho in Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes Percy gives the three animal heads like in the myths which is different than his own encounter, but he mentions monsters can change their form (like to a chihuahua). Who knows, maybe some monsters are genderfluid too lol
Also as far as being a demigod killer goes considering the chimera used to terrorize Greek kingdoms before Bellerophon killed her very likely some demigods would’ve been killed in her rampages.
Also there IS a story about Pan disappearing where this guy his shouting to this other guy “Thamus, the great Pan is dead!” and then word just gets out.
There is mythology about Pan being missing, Thalmus was told “The great god Pan is dead”
Which can also translate as “Thamus the All-Great is dead”
I hope this series (yours and the actual PJO show) gets more love! Perhaps the internet will get into it after it's been out awhile, and you'll get more hits on these videos! Or perhaps everyone sucks lol

The disappearance of Pan has more to do with a late story about a sailor who hears a voice from the sea saying that the Great God Pan is dead. It's not a myth, but more a funny anecdote that was mistranslated over the course of centuries because Latin and Ancient Greek are tricky languages. It could be interpreted as "Thammus, the Great God Pan is dead" or "The great god and all-powerful god Thammus is dead", hinting a Underworld-ly god from Near East named Thammuz who died and ressurected yearly
And about the Chimaera, did you know tht she was pet to a king named Amisodarus that used her as a war-machine to ravage his enemies countries? Yep. That's why Bellerophon (and Pegasus) was sent by King Iobates to kill her.
I definitely binge watched this over the weekend because of you. I wasn't sure if I was going to give the show a try but I'm glad I did! It's a good show!
I honestly took Echidna's saying that they killed to mean demigods as a whole not those 3 so far on this quest.
I just want to reiterate that Pan being missing is probably connected to the possibility that he is dead (due to a mistranslation/misunderstanding)

The only thing i would wish for was if you not only compared the series to the mythology behind it, but also talked about the differences between the books and the show.

Hello, I just wanted to make a note on Echidna being the mother of Medusa. Though the most popular version of the myth DOES describe Phorcys and Ceto as being the parents of the Gorgons, there were versions out there by ancient authors of Medusa being the daughter, or at least a descendant, of Echidna, such as Gaius Julius Hyginus, who was a Latin writer, and in his work titled “Fabulae” (or “Fables”), he writes:
"From Typhon the giant and Echidna were born Gorgon . . . From Medusa, daughter of Gorgon, and Neptunus [Poseidon], were born Chrysaor and horse Pegasus."
So yeah, hope this helps!
Wonderful job on this look through Riordan’s Percy Jackson. Hopefully with or without televised productions , you will continue to look at all his series, using the books as references.

When Hercules met Philoctetes in the Disney movie, he was spying on Nymphs. When they notice him he chases them. He catches one and she turns into a tree. I wonder if this is a reference to pan?

I liked the chimera. It looked like a cute kitty but slightly scary. I'm really enjoying the series so far. Much better than the movies.
The chimera killed a lot of people in the original myth. Considering how common demigods are in greek mythology, it wouldn't be too inaccurate to assume some of these people were demigods or at least descendants of the gods

Why are the depictions of Andromeda pale white? Ethiopians are and have always been black, a dark brown hue with wavy black hair. I have never seen a pale Ethiopian, not even one with fair skin. 😫😩😤
