    SPOILERS:
1:40 The mention of DNA evidence is also a subtle and brilliant way to foreshadow Fred’s mom being the culprit. In the show, there’s nothing that even hints at her being the killer until the last two episodes. Having Fred mention that the victim was found near his home, where his DNA could have gotten on them another way, is also a great way to misdirect the audience so we wouldn’t immediately assume it was him or one of his parents.

With Fred’s new characterization, I would change his mother’s motivations. She still wants to take out the brains of teenage girls so that she can replace her son’s brain with them. That is because she sees Fred’s innocence and naivety as weaknesses that make him unfit to lead the company. She would call Fred a softhearted imbecile who does not have the guts and ruthlessness to take charge like she does. Fred would be heartbroken that his mother sees his compassion as weakness and almost give up. However that is when Velma and the others refute his mother’s statements, saying he is not weak at all. If anything he is stronger than she would ever be because he is willing to change for the better and care for other people besides himself.
Victoria Jones would almost get killed by a falling stalagmite but Fred would tackle her out of the way and save her. Even though she is a serial killer, she is still his mother. Victoria Jones ends up getting arrested and outed as the serial killer.
Fred would be depressed at this turn of events only for the Mystery Gang to comfort him and remind him that he still has them. This is how the Mystery Gang ends up being formed with Fred and Velma as the leaders of the group.

I'm not sure if it's the same for ADHD, but people with ASD (they often go hand in hand) mostly have a very great sense for justice. However, growing up in a NT world where many of their behaviours is automatically "wrong", it makes you very paranoid -like dancing on borrowed land.
Due to this, the question "Wait...am I?" is actually very relatable. Because 1.) you don't want to be a bad person and 2.) you know you didn't, but still have the natural feeling of NTs being somehow an "authority" to you. Aka that their perception "overwrites" yours. But while he's in jail, he reflects on how he's been treating people around him. He actually realizes that he's been a horrible person and wants to change. And another thing is maybe this is why he wants to solve mysteries too. He doesn't want to put the wrong person in jail. Cuz he knows how jail is and wants to put the right person in. But he knows he cant do it alone. He needs... THE MYSTERY INCORPRATED. And that's how I think Fred's character should have actually change. You know, your rendition of the Velma series reminds me of Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in a way. As in it feels like a different but interesting take in the franchise, by changing some characters traits but making it seem organic in an imperfect high school setting. Velma being self-conscious and more down to earth, Fred being an oblivious but loveable dumbass; and I would imagine Daphne as an aspiring student who wants to be popular and Norville as like a charismatic class clown that everybody at least tolerates. It's all different but feels natural.

Mystery Incorporated proved that a Himbo Fred DID do wonders for the team dynamic, however I'd say the type of himbo energy you want to go for is less "actual idiot" and more "cheerfully oblivious."
The stuff he's interested in (vehicles, mechanisms, men's fashion, and whatever niche thing the writers need for this story like astrology or the circus) he understands really thoroughly. Everything else he's completely clueless about, except he usually doesn't REALIZE he's clueless and just happily blunders on without seeing all the obvious mistakes he's making.
This is also why he's never creeped out by the spooky locations the gang visits, and why he ALWAYS suggests they split up. It's also this unearned confidence that always places him as unofficial leader.

Oh no hon this was objectively better from every angle. As a scooby doo fan it doesn’t paint the two in such negative light. It makes sense velma wants to help free Fred cause of how he stood up for her earlier in the show. From a writing sense it’s more interesting that the character is too distracted to form murder plans instead of him being too stupid to use cutlery. Not to mention that unlike the trial you had ACTUAL jokes. I legit laughed out loud when Fred jumped out the window
