    First of all, thank you for a great video - well presented, informative, and entertaining; you come across as very relatable - friendly and engaging, but also very professional in your approach. I've now subscribed to your channel, as I've watched a couple of your other videos, and have been equally impressed bu them as well.
    On a different note, I am interested in doing a similar mod to a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0, i.e. changing the OEM 718 spoiler for the ducktail spoiler from the 718 Spyder. Any ideas on how this is done? Are additional brackets required for this? What are the part numbers? How do you find an OEM spoiler from a reputable source (rather than some cheap, low quality, ill-fitting part, from ebay)?!?

    • @TDS981
      @TDS981  Před 2 lety

      Hi Tilum2, thank you for the very kind feedback, it's nice to hear and I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.
      I think your idea is a very good one,.it will look awesome and I'm keen to see the pictures when you've done it.
      For me the best place to source the part is from your parts desk at the nearest dealer or if you are lucky you can find a used one. Aftermarket options can be hit and miss so probably not worth the risk.
      I don't have direct experience with the 718 but at a guess you will require 2 brackets and the spoiler itself. It will come primed so you'll need to have it painted as I did.
      A quick search suggests this to be the part number for the 718 Spyder rear spoiler but please do your own research before ordering.

    • @TDS981

      After all of that I reversed the decision, badge is back on the boot lid where it belongs. I decided I prefer it, with the plate on it didn't look quite right.
      However, if you want to do it, take the measurements of your existing badge and replicate the positioning onto the bumper.
      Starting with the 'S' as the centre point from the top of the letter, following the curve it is 48mm below the bottom line of the reversing light.
      Good luck and thanks for watching!

    Great work. Looks fantastic, including the re-positioned badge. (Now subscribed after finding a number of your very useful videos). I was inspired to investigate changing my 981 Cayman S spoiler for the GT4/Spyder ducktail as the standard spoiler appears to lift at either side after a period of time. This is something commented on a number of forums and OPCs have confirmed to me it's a known 'feature' ! I approached my local OPC to get some idea of costs and was informed the GT4 ducktail is a different part number than the Spyder ducktail although I'm fairly confident they are the same size and both are interchangeable and would fit a Cayman or Boxster. Any views / advice on this ? The 981 GT4 ducktail is nearly £100 more expensive than the 981 Spyder ducktail (probably as it's a GT product?) !!

      Hi Steve, great to hear and thanks for subscribing. I've had this same conversation in reverse with someone who was looking to buy an aftermarket Cayman ducktail that was less expensive than the OEM Spyder version. I think that we concluded that it was probably worthwhile getting the right one for the car. I bet they are similar but the Cayman has a slightly different rear profile to the Boxster Spyder, the GT4 Ducktail is also fixed. The Spyder version rises just as the OEM spoiler. Have you researched what other Cayman owners have done?
      I was comfortable with the Spyder one because I noted Porsche had done the same thing with the Spyder test car which was based on an ordinary Boxster.

    Love it! Looks great! Would love to see you add the Spyder front bumper/spoiler/splitter to balance it out more. I actually think Porsche should have an option to add both spoilers to the regular S or GTS because as lovely as a Spyder is, that top is ghastly. This would create a nice car that's in between the two. I know that would probably make the Spyder seem less special but it would allow for a more aggressive look for those who would prefer that with a top that actually works everyday. For instance, I would love to have the new 718 GTS 4.0 with the Spyder front spoiler and ducktail rear spoiler and still basically have the same performance but with a top that works.
