True 80s classic that's still in my music library and played & enjoyed quite often. Great to see that they're still doing well and rockin it to the masses in 24.
I saw Aldo and his band perform this song in the late 70's opening for Aerosmith. I was highly impressed. I of course bought the album the next day. I hit and you have a great job for life if you don't screw it up. He was smart enough to get away from the powdered pleasure and other drugs after he lost his special person.
I was a So. Californian stationed in Biloxi MS when this came out. I had a Toyota truck with a camper shell (aka mobile party hut) and my 6 buddies and I drove down to Orlando and Daytona at night. We played it practically non-stop all the way down just from all the radio stations along the way. That was the defining song of the early 80's.
@@darcypearson2606yeah both the bass player and second guitarist are annoying with there excessive hair flipping. Aldo is great though. Both those guys, especially the bassist, need to be a little less cliched with their stage behaviour.
The first concert I had ever seen. I was 12 years old and our local fair had Aldo Nova and Blue Oyster Cult. The show sold out and you want to talk about packed. The place was filled with BOC fans but everyone appreciated how hard Aldo Nova rocked. I still remember how nuts everyone went when the giant Godzilla rose from behind the stage with its red eyes blowing smoke and fire.
Every time I hear this song, it brings me back to a particular day in the mid 80's when I was getting and giving my first hickeys with a certain girl! Good Shit!
No disputing that Aldo Nova was a rock sensation in the 80s with Fantasy and also Monkey On Your Back- but as far as mainstream, he was pretty much a one (or two) hit wonder. Still a great song tho!
Seen them back in 82 warmed up for blue oyster cult and iron maiden hell of a good time yeah guess that kind of shows my age but it was good time good friends and the best music
Remember the song in my Hay Day brings back memories of me and my cousin... The days we gotten fist fights and an an Aldo used to be able to sing specially monkey on my back.... Which kind of remind me of a Pink Floyd song
He released Aldo Nova 2.0 in 2018, The Life and Times of Eddie Gage in 2021 (All New Music), Reloaded 2.0 in 2022 and Short Stories in 2022. He's currently working on new music to be released (6 Songs finished) whenever he decides to and finishes.
I remember in English class way back when we all had to write a poem… and this one girl was reading hers. …It sounded familiar and then I realized it was one of Aldo Nova songs ball and chain…. I always patted myself on the back for not saying anything.
I wish I had been a one hit wonder and could spend my time playing that hit at a never ending series of continually shrinking venues. Alas I will have to settle for living out my fantasy through Aldo.
His first album was good. Fantasy was a great song back then. Remember mtv played it almost every hour on the hour. It looks he pulled his current lineup out of the crowd. Lol.
Isn't he related to Bon Jovi...I remember buying that cassette when it came out and jamming it in my Duster in a Pioneer stereo...2 RadioShack eq's and Jenson 6x9's...😉
That’s because they’re basically a completely different band now without Tate, DeGarmo and Rockenfield. Just not the same chemistry… Whip and Eddie replaced them with talented replacement musicians (no doubt) but it’s just not the same without them.
Great song and good to see this band still getting out there making it happen but they need a new sound board guy that knows how to mix and I also got a sneaking feeling the venue is bad on acoustics
I actually thought about putting a black B string on my 5 string basses so it "looks" more like a 4 string, maybe he threw a white string on that low B so that he visually thinks he's playing a 4? Other than that, it does appear he's got something going on there. He certainly wasn't in a hurry to get playing!
Fun to watch and listen to, cranked, but it just reminds me of how much it sucks to be getting old.
It beats the alternative ...
Any day you’re vertical does not suck!

Indeed
Getting old only sucks if you never took chances in life, and if you’re a lazy slob. 👍
Exectly.
This was the song at the roller skating rink where everyone kicked into high gear!
One of those catchy tunes that i rocked on my cassette radio in my 71 Chevelle in 1983. Classic
WOW SO COOL TO HEAR ALDO NOVA LIVE AMOST 40 YEARS LATER
If by “cool” you mean an artist who doesn’t have the voice left to sing his own songs anymore
One of the first song on MTV in the early 80's
82 was a fun year
I was jammin on my Walkman flying around on my V45 Sabre !
One of the defining songs of the 80’s.Still great!
This album was killer start to finish
Now you remember seeing all those 50s bands reunions on tv that you're parents watched now its US 😂
OMG !! A BLAST FROM THE PAST.MR.ALDO NOVA'S FANTASY..CLASSIC !!!!
Flashback! Sneaking into my older brother’s room when he was gone to listen to this cassette.
True 80s classic that's still in my music library and played & enjoyed quite often. Great to see that they're still doing well and rockin it to the masses in 24.
So grateful for this, thanks lord of the 80s
This song brings back some cool 80s memories 😜
When you hear awesome old tunes like this reminds how to feel young and free and still alive and kickin!! 💥💥 💥
Jon Bon Jovi owes his career to Aldo.
This song brings back so many good memories.
Talented man right there one of the best rock songs ever written
Dude did great casts during Covid. I was always a fan, but his work and videos were greatly appreciated. Love this guy.
Ditto
In the beginning he was like elo, and dude who formed Boston. His debut album was ONLY him. He had to find guys to play his music to go on tour.
@@Primetimetoons-bx2mjVery common for musicians to do. Prince recorded all his instruments on his earlier albums.
Wow, saw him on tour in 1982. Awesome
Aldo nova co wrote the song “take me away” by blue oyster cult in the 80s. Check out that video. Great song
GGGGGRRRREEEEAAAATTTTTT blast from the past....giving a New Generation some Awesome Music....YYYEEEEAAAAHHHH

Great to listen to in an '81 Z28 while driving down Pacific Coast Highway.

I had to visit Kessler AFB from Fl. Nice casinos there.
Damn! Haven’t heard Aldo since I was 13! Awesome
bass player called it close tuning that 1 string. rock on Aldo 🤘❤
Yeah what was that all about? Have your $hit together before your band starts playing.
Too busy with his cute hair flipping.
…yea I was watching that and 🤣

The song that started it all!

…memories of the best of times I ever had 🎸🙌🏼🍻
Always have been a fan. He has not lost a step with aging. Dude still sounds like the album.
The album was ONLY him. He didn't have a band. He had to find guys to play his music to go on tour.
Saw him in Albuquerque, the civic center, when he went on tour whe this album came out. He can do just about anything. Grossly underrated.
It's Not Reality It's Just A Fantasy. 😎 LIFE IS JUST A FANTASY CAN YOU LIVE THIS FANTASY LIFE !
Too cool; I still got a 45 in the sleeve I bought back in the early 1980’s
this song has some special meaning to me
The best song I ever heard setting in the back of a 72 cheville ss , with 4 6x 9s enclosed box, with a kenwood amp, and equalizer??? This is kick ass
Ill never forget this guy at highscool in the 80s pulls out the bigges boom box playing this walking between classes, classic!
They sound great even with the very bad sound recording. Rock on Aldo Nova and company. You guys are the best. 🤘
Every time I hear this song, it brings me back to a particular day in the mid 80's when I was getting and giving my first hickeys with a certain girl!
Good Shit!
I was 10 when I saw Aldo with BOC at AZ Veterans Memorial Coliseum 🤙🏼
WOW!! WAY COOL THAT HE IS STILL ROCKING!! AWESOME STUFF!!!
Opening, final and encore song. Great band...one hit wonder.
Damn I use to love these guys.
He opened for BOC a long time ago. 🤘
Dudes singing through his nose 👃👃👃80s best decade ever!
Great no-dope dopamine hit!! Thanks!!
I want to be the official Les Paul polisher for Aldo!
Can you possibly add one more guitar solo?! Yessss!

Still have this cassette to this day!!
I still have the old vinyl record it's been through the beer wars
He was also Cyndi Lauper's guitarist back in the 80s. Very talented guy
And Celine Dion's producer/music director for years.
Good to see someone still using the Marshall stacks and big Ampeg rig.
That drummer turned it up a notch
this is great tune.
always loved aldo nova,so glad he touring again!!thank for sharing!!!

Thanks so much for this awesome video !!!
Brings back a great time, the guitar tone he achieved on the debut helped me become a fan of Gibson over Fender. Hummmmbuckers...
This tune takes me back to my girlfriend in '83-'84, Dyanna!
GEM quite a fox 275 Great times!!
I heard that in order to play in this band, one must be able to *_"Flip their hair,"_* at least 100 times a song.... each and every song !!! 😲😂
Right on Aldo 🤘

Dang! for a couple bucks more they could have animated the stars and colors on the screen behind them to make it even more awesome!
Very cool!! Looks like Aldo is playing on an Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Custom Axcess Guitar 🎸 I got the same guitar 😀
until the camera backed up at about 4 :50 I thought they were playing in a high school gym.
These guys still going? Good on them

Steel Panther does an amazing cover of this.
Hellyeah 🤘
@lordofthe80s Did Aldo do Monkey on your back in that show? Can u post if u have it? Great to see Aldo still killing it!
No he did not.
He should've played his les paul model with the explorer headstock like in the video.
Fire the sound man.
That crowd let me down as they left during The Mighty Queensryche
