A beacon of light in an otherwise bleak musical landscape. Dusty, we all miss you and are grateful for your Texas Brother's wisdom to keep going as the best way for fans to remember you. Trust In The Beard.
I saw a young kid today with a Nirvana T-Shirt on, he might have been 18, it made me think how dead the modern music landscape is if you need to wear a T-Shirt from a band that was formed in 1987.
Imagine being the guitar tech for Dusty and Billy for 30 years and then all of a sudden you’re part of the band playing live on stage. It’s a dream come true.
So you're telling me this guy became Dusty's bass roadie, learned all the songs, started growing his beard out, and then Dusty suddenly and mysteriously died? I mean...c'mon. You don't think he put something in Dusty's cereal?
@HOLYHOUSE 30 years ago he started as Dustys Tech and when you are a paid crew member traveling with the band your called a Tech. Roadies are stagehands that the band hires for each tour.
For those of you that don't know Elwood, he's got one hell of a resume. Joe Perry, Steve Vai, Puddle of Mud, Izzy Stradlin and Gilby Clarke [Guns ‘N’ Roses], Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes. He's been in the music industry for over three decades.
I think Dusty would approve. What a score,,,,,Elwood brought Billy and Frank back to the surface, and beyond. They have a fresh new feel with Elwood. RIP ,,,,,,Dusty
@@martymartin2894 Didn’t say Elwood was better, but as a musician trying to step into Dusty’s shoes. They couldn’t have found anyone more qualified. Obviously Dusty was an Iconic Rock Star that was part of an historic band and was a partner in writing their songs.
Hard to believe that I’m on Route 66 now. Saw ZZ Top in Calgary 1975 with a band named Heart ? ❤️ It was amazing. Prime time. Loved the show. Loved the sounds. We were all blown away. Just got paid, Jesus left Chicago, Brown Sugar etc.
Saw ZZ Top once, around 1980 at the astrodome-Houston.3 bands,Fabulous Thunderbirds,Top then the Stones.ZZ Top opened up with Going Down, then proceeded to kick ass!I could have cared less about the rolling stones, just wanted to see "that little 'ol band from Texas".This shortly before they took over MTV.I'll never forget!!
I was in LA when this song has just come out and KMET used it when they announced their station in periodically throughout the day. You would hear that opening iconic groove and then KMET, Los Angeles and then the song would play sometimes, and sometimes not. I’m from St. Louis when KSHE was spectacular.
ZZ Top - probably the only band with any guts to keep going despite losing a key member. Respect ✊ and the great thing is, Dusty actually wanted the band to keep going. All the other bands no longer around simply just break up - Zeppelin, Sabbath, Queen (Brian can sing, Roger can sing. Jason should have filled in for his Dad years ago and Black Sabbath could have kept going with another vocalist like Glenn Hughes or just bring back Tony Martin. Every band should keep going. No matter what.
Got to see them around 2010, and was as expected a great show. Although Dusty isn't with us anymore, I think Elwood has done a fine job of taking over the bottom end while showing respect to Dusty at the same time.
Dusty is no doubt smiling down. I've said it before & I'll do so again: You couldn't ask for a better person to "step in Dusty's shoes" than a man named Elwood Francis. His name just SCREAMS Little Ol' Band From Texas. 🎸 🇺🇸
I mean it's been payday every day for eons for these guys. And yet, in this steamroller of a song, they still manage to evoke the sheer elation of some regular Joe who broke his back for a meager paycheck the past two weeks. I first listened to this after buying the "sixpack" back in the day. Previously, a mere child in the 1980s, I only had been exposed to ZZ Top when _Sleeping Bag_ had rolled into the Top Forty. Let me just say it was something else and one of those rare, true eye openers.
These guys sound better than ALL of the other old acts still performing. I've heard recent stuff from Rolling Stones, Jethro Tull, Elton John, Kiss, and some others and it's trully like wanting a peice of candy and getting only the wrapper.
I love that Elwood plays bass his own way... totally different tone and feel and notes from Dusty.... done with full due respect to Dusty Hill, the greatest texas blues rock bassist and singer ever to play in a power trio.
Yeah we were there too. Devo and Incubus Beachfest 2024. diggin in. diggin into your ZZ top set we missed it. oh . Cheers! Big fans here in Marina Del Rey.
ZZ Top is like a good old Peterbilt truck going down the highway. Smooth and strong. Dusty would be proud.
A Peterbilt is just a Kenworth in drag.
Yes, I miss the Arena days of the 80`s
@@ShawnShipstad I miss my youth and health of the 80s where I would be able to stand an all day arena fest. Now? Forget it.
I'm glad that ZZ Top is continuing the tradition. I think Elwood is great, and performs with much respect to what came before.
They sound great. That bass and guitar combo is killer.I’ve never seen that setup before.Nice!

Thanks Gofer!
Bet it was a great time! That’s what ZZ Top brings.Killer tunes and great time!II’m glad you got to do that and thanks for sharing.
Right on brother!
I devolved the the film that this was shot on 🙄
❤❤❤❤❤❤
That's what is great about ZZ TOP ' They always looked old and so time doesn't change their appearance

The requirement of awesome beardology narrowed down the field a lot.
All that but he ain't no dusty that's for sure.
His playing is stiff, not like dusty without a pick and had more feel and flow.
The bass chops, the epic beard, and the name “Elwood”. There could be no other.
@@martymartin2894He ain’t trying to be ! 🙄. He’s a perfect fit for the. “Top”
The F'n definition of cool & swag 💯 R.I.P. Dusty 🙏
My favorite riff of all time. But so simple, that I felt stupid when I learned it. Billy is utterly unique, and has no peer.
It's a great riff.
He was Jimmy Hendrix’s favorite guitar player.
no peer, you americans.
They broke the mold with Mr Gibbons!!!!!👍🎸🎼😎👏
Top rocks. Jesus saves!
It's icons like ZZ Top that are keeping this country's culture from imploding on itself.
So tight!
Indeed my negro amigo. Reggaeton and trap is crapping our american culture. Not epic
Love Top! Appreciate that they can still get out there. Frank rock solid. Billy is legend. RIP Dusty 😢 Welcome Elwood 😊

Seen them in 2022, front row nearly center on Billy Gibbons side. Elwood is a great replacement Such a great show in Laval QC. RIP Dusty Hill
