I'm curious to know: how is your relationship with social media and tech? Are you or have you ever been addicted? Which of these boundaries might you consider setting? Totally agree with you on feeling depressed by seeing people out at a restaurant on their phones. Same! It makes no sense to me how what's on a screen is more important than the person sitting across from you, enjoying a meal together. I see it in my own family. It boggles my mind. I've had to limit my instagram usage. It used to be about sharing beautiful photography. It has morphed into anything but that. Some of my circle now only communicates via social media texting apps rather than the actual phone text. Can't understand that either. We're all on screens too much, even as I type this... working on a laptop, taking classes on a computer, using apps on the smart phone, even reading books on the iPad, and streaming shows on more screens. It's all so bizarre. We need more sunlight and time in nature. On a side note, your hair looks phenomenal, Terri!
100% Birdie! That's why getting out into nature for walks is so important to me, too ❤️
I use my phone for rain app, handpan, or meditation to fall asleep. I do not turn my tv on in my bedroom when I go to my room for bed.
I have people who have visited me in my living room where they are texting others and sometimes talking on their phones. I went to the movies with my 80 yr. Old friend and she was texting in the dark movie theatre and not watching the movie. I felt like I was there alone and we couldn't even talk about what we thought about the movie because she wasn't following it.
That sounds so aggravating, Mary!
I have deleted all social media except your app, my Bible app, and church app! I have been listening to meditation and handpan on CZcams. I DO NOT miss FB, TikTok, or Instagram!!!
👏👏👏
Worst thing about SM is how it's affecting young minds. IMO it's the curse of the 21st century
I’ve been consciously reducing my screen time on social media lately, as it’s been having a major impact on my mental health and well-being. Constantly comparing myself to people who are always showing off their seemingly perfect lives creates this false sense of reality, but I know it’s mostly curated images to create the illusion that they’re happy. Yet, it triggers feelings of inferiority and pressure to keep up, making me feel like I’m always missing out. It’s a toxic cycle I’m actively trying to break.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience 💕 I think a lot of us can relate to that. I am cheering you on!
@@terri_cole Thank you 🙏
Same! 💯
Moderation is key~ I think.
It is kind of sad to miss out over the joy
of meeting up for coffee with a friend but instead seems as if is "easier" to catch up via social media.
Such a good point, @moen4645!
I feel sorry for children who are being bullied on social media. I have seen 3 yr. Olds in grocery carts glued to their tablets......what a shame. God made every person unique and special.....we don't need to be like someone else.
As always, incredibly insightful and I'm definitely on the same page. Truth be told I sometimes feel like a relic in this world as I also treasure face to face contact deeply and it saddens me to see how many people allow the big tech to dilute their lives to the point that many of them don't know who they are anymore. :( Your work is so invaluable, Terri - thank you for all that you do to make the world a better place. ;)
Agreed! And thank you for being here ❤️❤️
Oh it's so good to have this type of message come from you.
❤️❤️
Terricole.... thank you so much...I come from East Africa...aim one of your great funny of your channel... looking forward to heal and grow to the best version of myself.... I have a suggestion for the channel... please bring Dr tena brayant to the show,I think the two of you are allowing us to see life in a different perspectives...... thank you
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, Jacline 💕 I appreciate you! I tried searching for Dr. Tena Brayant but nothing came up. Do you know if they have a website or social media?
My issue is I like to use meditation apps to help me fall asleep but some nights it's hard to not reach for it even if it's to just Google something which just leads one down a rabbit hole.
That makes sense. 💕 Perhaps there's a way to listen to the meditations with your phone still a bit out of reach? Or to meditate on your own? I'd love to hear from others on what they do as I'm sure you're not alone!
I feel like social media has destroyed society, and the ability to actually communicate.
It has definitely changed a lot about the world!
I turned off my text notifications as I was listening to this. ✅
