Splattercat has good taste. Several of his lets plays are in my steam library now...
It's simple and straight to the point for some immediate and reliable fun, props to the devs and thanks Splatt' for showing it off.
In the tutorial, the game does tell you that you can only place sandbags behind your current enemy line. I think that means you're never going to be able to place a sandbag further right than your furthest unit, but it should be worth it to check for sandbag placement behind them. There might be some kind of waiting period before the game thinks you've held the spot long enough, I guess.

I love games like this, but I would really love to see a game like this with real high fidelity detailed graphics and animation that really hits home the massive devastation and impact of the battle. Like bullets ripping through people in different hit locations, body parts flying, great explosions, etc. Not looking realistic so much but just real good detailed pixel art at much higher resolutions.
Looks like a solid game, reminds me a little of Cannon Fodder from back in the day.

Lol... what exactly are you saving stuff for Splat? I mean if you are showing off the game, that seems like a good time to show everything. I mean you had a dog, riflemen, giant turret and you choose to bring the oil barrel...

Glad to see this! And even happier seeing how they seem to have flattened out the difficulty curve a bit! The demo was SAVAGE after two or three missions!

Looks great. Curious why you opted for straight cash rather than upgrading cash flow speed with a limited currency.
I think SNL releasing parts to CZcams has been a game changer for me. I don't have to dedicate an entire hour, I can watch sketches as I please, and I don't have to watch the monologues or weekend update. Between that, this, and Cody Ko I have a healthy amount of content to watch on a consistent basis.

@@igorthelight very kool game but it lacks the brutality of coh. That being said it really needs more attention because it really is a good follow up to the coh series
@@igorthelight idk, i played iron harvest demo when it was coming out and really liked it, but then i kept hearing about company of heraoes, and how ih lacks complexity of coh. So i decided to buy coh2, and besides being dirt cheap, as opposed to iron harvest, it did indeed have more content and complexity. After buying it i have no intention of buying iron harvest.
One issue I see is that you consume whatever units you take into a fight with you, and it looks like the only way to get more is to win. So if you end up losing some key fights you could end up running out of units with no way to replenish them, or am I missing something?
I imagine they have noticed this issue. Maybe they intentionally have it so if you're not careful you'll just have to start a new game.
It looks like you can spend credits to buy more units
@@TitoRigatoni Yeah, that definitely gives you a better chance. But if you run out of credits and units, you'll have to restart. But you have limited lives, so the threat of having to restart is definitely intentional.
@@cormacsmall9442 yeah that's the actual strategy of the game - sending in *just enough* units to get the job done, so you have enough left to continue on harder levels.

Love the variety SplatterCat plays and showcases. But man does he have the lowest Perception stat sometimes.

This campaign map reminds me of Final Liberation. In that game you could also unlock units by conquering parts of the map.

Reminds me of 1944 Game from Armorgames.
It looks like they digitized photos and video of actual train/slot car/wargame terrain and added some magic to make it all appear like the miniature soldiers, vehicles, etc. are tiny living toys, moving of their own accord.
It reminds me of that photographer whose method of taking pictures of real-life locations make them appear to be HO model train setups instead.
Its hilarious that he never noticed the mercs spawning in twos after they ranked up.
I went and bought this one. This looks fun and is cheap right now.

didn't know it existed but it looks like lots of fun, mixed with some of the frustrations that auto-battle games tend to cause .. but it looks like its more "fun" than "frustrating" :P
Ah yes the upgrades in mission, don’t function that way: there are +1 and + 2 which at each rank give different troops different abilities. Also you can spend your medals to increase the amount of money you would get if you trade them in. Optimal gameplay :)
The game looks pretty different from the last time I looked at this one. Glad they updated the GUI a bit, though it's a little disappointing they turned the coffee cup into a generic white mug.
also where there a button to increase the income per tick that splat just avoided the hole time ?
Yeah I thought that was funny too. Spend limited upgrade on straight cash, but not faster cash.

theres a WW1 game similar to this called 1918 or 1917 it had a trench/cover system & it was a lot of fun for an hour or 2 lol this looks cool as well but for how long

I think you didn't quite get the idea of the upgrading the units thing. Adding 1-3 does nothing other than advancing it. It's the 4th and 8th that do the work. If you right click units you can see what upgrades they get at those new levels. For example your mercenaries get 2 and 3 units per pip/click after upgrading. Other things get stuff like new weapons or abilities, but you have to spend all 4 or 8 to get those.
I did find out you also do have hotkeys. 1-8 and Q for defend order (which refills on kills) and E for attack (on the same system)

you realize that upgrading the unit rank does NOTHING unless you purchase all 4 ranks right? for mercs the first 4 points makes it so you summon 2 mercs with each purchase instead of 1... 4 more points and youll summon 3 mercs with each purchase increasing your numbers for less cost.
