Totally wrong on owing the $300. If they never stated that it was a loan you needed to pay back, then you shouldn't pay them back. If they told you they would like you to pay it back then yes you should pay it back.

Story 1: OP did nothing wrong here... and he's right, as long as you arent blocking a driveway, mailbox or fire hydrant, you can park anywhere you want on a public street. People like this stupid Karen are just unnecessarily territorial and combative, but good on the OP for not caring and being as sarcastic as possible... i know i would've been very sarcastic and snarky towards her and would've felt joy upsetting her as well. You really wonder why some people are allowed to leave their living rooms.
Story 2: Okay, the OP needs to tell this lady to screw off... and be blunt about it too. The OP here has tried numerous times to be kind and civil with this old Karen, especially on call or text in advance, yet she continuously keeps banging on his door in her robe. There is a big difference between needing help, being lonely and just being annoying. Its pretty apparent that she is just trying to be annoying at this point if she wont get that hint. Maybe talk to the landlord of this place and tell them that you're beng harassed.
Story 3: OP is not a jerk at all here. The parents dont deserve anything here, regardless of whether or not they are clean and regardless of what other family think or say. Ignore them and anyone against you here.... they have no right to be disappointed in you.
Story 4: No way is the OP a jerk here... the sister is and majorly. The OP helped out with some things over the years, and even without her asking for it. Personally i wouldn't pay her back at all here. Since the OP paid for a fair number of things... i would bring up all the things you did, so then it would even things out. Screw the sister here.
Story 5: OP is not a jerk, but this is a prime example as to why you NEVER give/loan money out.... you'll get burned almost all the time.

Story 1: First off, OP is 100% in the right and has the legal ability to park wherever on a public street so long as they don't block hydrants, mailboxes and driveways. And the Karen is obviously just trying to get her daily fix of misery.
That said I can kind of empathize with the Karen unfortunately because when I still lived with my parents, they had a neighbor across the street who would have parties or something like once or twice a week and they would fill up both sides of the street with cars for a few houses in both directions. And my family and I had to park in the street as well because we all worked different shifts so we all had to be able to get in and out as needed. We didn't go over or anything and cause trouble but it was annoying since the street would be downgraded to a single lane for cars to drive by during those parties.
story 2 your elderly neighbour might have mental health issues or alzheimers or dementia and forget thatâs she has already knocked on your door and it can be annoying for you maybe you can call adult protective services to get her a carer to help with shopping and go to the pharmacy or maybe she needs to in a nursing home they can help her decide what she needs with her family? đ đ€đĄđ„đ€

Okay I have a lot of issues with that last story. First off if I know that there are issues with the place I was living in before moving out I'd make sure to document it and inform my friend of those things before suggesting they move in there. Now if I left and all of a sudden they find all this stuff when they got there unbeknownst to me then that's on them for not doing a proper inspection in person. No matter the circumstances you always want to see what you're getting yourself into when apartment or house hunting. And OP to me was doing way too much above and beyond for her friend. So the issue about whether they need to pay her back or not is iffy to me. Does anyone else have an opinion on this because I'm stuck.

So the 3rd story i know itâll probably never happen but Iâd make a contract with ur family so they canât sell the houses only give them back to you and with the 4th story i always tell people pay rent doesnât matter if itâs 100 bucks or 1000 but always pay rent cuz the moment something goes wrong youâll be the first to go if you ainât paying anything always get an agreement goin.
On the story with the guy not letting his parents move on to his property, if they were too young to remember any of this about being taken away and I've only known about it because of stories, it really shouldn't affect them or traumatize them in the slightest. Dishonestly to me just sounds like he doesn't want anything to do with their parents and is using it as an excuse. Which is perfectly fine but just man up and tell them and stop making excuses

Story #3 I disagree with our narrator. Sure, the parents messed up and did drugs, causing them to neglect their child when they were young. But unless I misunderstood, the parents have been trying since then to make up for their mistakes and form a relationship with the OP, but they keep refusing to meet with them.
So while I don't think the OP 'has' to make them a house, I do think they are the jerk for holding a grudge and not even trying to give his birth parents a second chance.
