Thank you for the video. I am also inclined to Viltrox 23 mm. I have a Nikon Z FC and two Viltrox lenses - 33 mm F1.4 and 85 mm F1.8. For me, their main advantage besides the price is moderately soft image, it makes the photo more artistic. This limits the choice of shooting genres, but for me this is not a problem, I prefer portraits and street photography.

Yes its a good choice for me as I love using the aperture ring too. Is the 85 good?

Big, heavy. Grip SmallRig is highly recommended. Little more missed focus than 33 mm f1.4. Overall great lens, don’t regret this purchase.

Damn, didn't expect Viltrox to fare so well against an S-line lens! One important thing to test would be chromatic aberration for which the Viltrox lenses are infamous.
I went the same way as you and chose the Viltrox instead of the Nikon DX 24mm 1.7 because I found my Viltrox used as well, however your deal was really smashing!
Additional benefit for me was that the Viltrox has the same 52mm filter diameter as my Sigma 30mm 1.4, so I can use the same K&F magnetic ND8 filter on both lenses and saved a bunch more money there.
A German reviewer tested the Nikon DX 24mm and the results weren't very impressive in sharpness and CA, which is to be expected for that size, but also shows how great value Viltrox lenses really are.
I used to own the original Viltrox trinity for Fuji as well and had no reservations in picking the 23mm again.

In addition to the 23 mm Viltrox F/1.4 for APS-C I have the 33 mm and the 56 mm. I am more than satisfied with each. All were purchased for use with a Nikon Zfc. Each came ready to use but a firmware update was available. In each case the update was painless. I expect when the Viltrox 75 mm F/1.2 for APS-C becomes available for Z mount I'll get that too.

What did the firmware update do? But yes the 75 would be amazing, but maybe big and expensive?

I've found the Nikon electronic VR very worth the small crop by the way.

Ah yeah I’ve never tried that. Good for video then

Incredible value for money and as you say does have a look that is pleasing. Such a shame the ZFC doesn’t have VR but it’s all about compromise with this camera and is very true to that film camera vibe that most people are looking for with this set up 👍👍

are these two lenses compatible only with the Z line of cameras or all of the DX APSC sensor size cameras which would include my D7000?

Thanks for your review. Wish you could have had the Nikon dx 24mm for the comparison. Its light weight and more compact size is a big plus for my use, but only if one doesn’t give up to much image sharpness.

I’ve grown to love the aperture ring which it misses on Nikon lenses. So far. This is why the zf isn’t for me atm

Can someone help me find the video? I bought the Viltrox because somebody on youtube said the Nikon 24 1.7 was trash.
The color fringing on Viltrox is so embarrassing I can't. Opening wider that 2 is just a complete mess.

Not happy with Quality of Viltrox Lens. Ordered 13mm 1.4 and procesor is not working. Even manual focusing not working on Zfc. Seen lot of similar complaints after 1-2 minths. I would stay with Nikkor.

even if Viltrox wins, Nikon still wins. Proves the Z System is viable

Viltrox is definitely stepping up. Their 75mm 1.2 is great.

@@russandloz I have it for my Fuji XT5 and I’m impressed. I’m sure it would work beautifully with the Z50 or Z30 though it is a little bigger than most apsc prime lenses.

Dx is popular as the quality isn’t that different as you think. There are many professionals that use it and get fantastic results especially Fujifilm users.
