This track was off their 2nd album "High and Dry" which doesn't get nearly enough love in my opinion! This album is jam packed with bangers front to back. When I really want to jam to Def Leppard, this, and Pyromania are my absolute go to favorites!!!
It's all downhill after High 'n Dry !
@@Solar55agreed
This is my absolute favourite album of theirs. Brilliant from start to finish!!
Best album they ever did.
On Through the Night and High and Dry were the only 2 DL albums worth anything. Those 2 were great. After that, they were too commercial and over produced.
Easily their best album, High N Dry. The guitar work is unreal. Lady Strange is a banger.
Mirror, Mirror! Lady Strange ....what a banger you nailed it!
Yep, definitely their best
I play Lady Strange on guitar. Love that one!
Amen easily their best album
Yep, Lady Strange is my favorite track from this album!
Def Leppard at their best. So many memories associated with this jam!! 🤘🤘
THIS was and will always be the Def Leppard I will always love.
Next song has got to be “High and Dry” from this self title album. Another banger guaranteed! “Hit and Run” is also a hammering tune. This whole album is great.
No need to do the whole album
Mirror Mirror and many others....Lady Strange!!! The Album is Iconic...even with the Studio cuts in it...
They really need to do deep dives into both High 'n' Dry and Pyromania... So many underappreciated songs!!!
High and Dry was a seriously rocking album. Solid all the way through.
High and Dry by them has to be next. Or maybe on through the night from this album too.
High ‘n’ Dry is the best Def Leppard album!! Raw sounding and heavy. There is no bad song on it! Thanks for doing this song!!
Yes! This is from their best album. IMO. High n Dry.
Love the whole album and yes it is their best.
A 100s likes!!
Def Leppard always a Rockin' choice!!!🎸🥁🎤
It's a shame Pete Willis couldn't overcome his demons of the day back then. He was so talented!
I think he ended up in a band with Paul Di'anno from Maiden at one point. They didn't make a big impact, which is a shame - both are incredibly talented guys.
It's kind of 'alternate reality-ish' to think about what the band would have done had Pete stayed. Would they have still gone in that 'poppier' rock direction?
@@LiberalsArePoop Paul is 'touring' with KKs Priest now. He's in a wheelchair, but doing better.
@@Corsina KK has his own version of Priest??
@@LiberalsArePoop Kinda. Tim 'Ripper' Owens is the singer for his band, so it may as well be. heh
Great song off their best album 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This was the Def Leppard that I loved when I was a teenager.
So glad you have finally listened to this era of Def Leppard. High and Dry was their best album, imo. Gritty guitar rock without so much flash
Most underrated song from Def Leppard.
The first TWO Def Leppard albums are by far thier best. Great reaction as always. God bless
Omg. I have been waiting for y’all to react to this song. Whole high n dry album is fire. Very early DL. With both original guitarists Steve Clark and Pete Willis. 1981. 3 yrs before Rick Allen lost his arm. Heavier DL. They got more melodic after replacing Pete Willis with Phil collen
Yes. Same.
My fave album from them!!
Yep, my favorite too
One of the best albums ever
Pete Willis makes them so much different. Not bagging on Phil, but sorry he's no Pete.
Hands down my favorite era of Def Leppard! Young and hungry to reach the top. After Pyromania I was done. This album was a banger from start to finish. This was their second album. Their debut album On Through The Night should not be missed either. Many really good songs there too! They were in their mid late teens when the debut album dropped. It amazing how accomplished and what really good songs they had at that time:)
Yesssss! This is my fav Def Lep album besides Pyromania. I remember listening to this album over and over at the age of 15. It changed my view of hard rock and heavy metal.
It started my love for hard rock too.
Same here, 15 years old, my first concert - Def Leppard, summer of '83. It was the first rockin band that I loved, and just like you, got me into more hard rock and heavy metal.
Saw this lineup twice back in the fall of ‘81. Both times as the opening act. 1st opening for Ozzy on his Blizzard of Ozz tour, then a few weeks later opening for Blackfoot. I was already a HUGE Def Lep fan by then, and they did not disappoint! Young and hungry!
Ha, sounds like me. Were you in Connecticut?? Saw them with Ozzy in August and Blackfoot in October.
Had to wait til the Pyromania tour. Freedom Hall Johnson City Tn. Krokus opened. Great show. Still got alot of High N Dry songs in that tour.
Saw them 3 times . Open air with April Wine and others , in the round where the stage was in middle of arena , the other standard arena show
I saw them with Blackfoot in Texas on this tour. It was very small venue. They were handing us picks the whole show. Got some great pictures from this show. The year before I saw them with Judas Priest and I think The Godz were the first band that night. I saw Ozzy with UFO.
@@FredPena-rd5cf nice, I saw them with Krokus opening also. The other two times I saw them were when they opened for Billy Squier and on the Hysteria tour with Tesla opening.
Back in the day...WAAAY back in the day! I remember how some dissed them as, "Light Alloy" as opposed to "Heavy Metal"; however some argue their best material. Classic Leppard!!! 🤘🏻😁
You are hitting old school def Leppard. One of their best!!!!!!
This is undoubtedly the band’s best album - an absolute hard rock banger from beginning to end.
Mirror, mirror (Look into my eyes)
Is one of my favorite older Def Leppard songs!
Jay you've got to listen to the entire High 'n' Dry album. It's amazing. They were very much like AC/DC early on.
Yes!
I think Mutt Lange had a bit to do with that. One of the reasons they moved on from him after Adrenalize. That was the beginning of them progressing into their later style.
I think they used the AC/DC producer
@@vitocandela7481 you're right they used Mutt Lange for their first four albums. He had produced Highway to Hell, Back in Black and For Those about to Rock for AC/DC. The were accused of being too much of an AC/DC clone early on and later switched producers when they wanted a more pop sound.
We used to crank this in the car on our way to the Lake Michigan beach after this first came out when I was in high school. Brings back many great memories. This album started my lifelong adoration of Def Leppard.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this song from Def Leppard. Now, let's hear the other song from the same period. ME AND MY WINE. Let's get it !!!
I love how much Jay loves Def Leppard😊😊😊 Me too Jay, totally get it!
Finally! This is my favorite Def Leppard song and High N Dry is by far their best album!
Do you know what the song is really about? I didn’t know for the longest time, and then I found out. I guess I should of figured it out with lyrics like “Get down on your knees, and let me know you’re ready to please.”
@nitro_001newman2 this song came out when I was in high school and I didn't get it then, but I'm almost 60 now so I've matured quite a bit. I don't listen to them anymore.
This entire album is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Joe Elliott has such a wonderful range of dynamics so he can really ramp it up when the chorus hits.
Man! I haven't heard this song in a LONG time! This is one of their rocking ones. People that hate on them and say that they can't rock have never really listened to their catalog. They are so awesome and still are!
I've seen them in concert 3 times. Once in the mid 90's, once in 2002,and then in 2015. They were so good each time. They have been in my Top 5 rock bands since the 80's when I was a teenager.
Guys. This album High n’ Dry is one of the best Rick albums of all time. For me, up there with Back in Black. You gotta hear the whole album! Killer.
This album completely rocked hard! My brother brought his copy of this record home from college back in 1981 and blew me away with it!
Thank you for reacting to our recommendations guys. More: Wasted, Switch 625 (instrumental), Desert Song, Fractured Love.
"Switch 625" is Steve at his best. RIP.
I ABSOLUTELY loved it when by the third chorus J was singing along!! The Def Leppard spell works again!!
Saw Def Leppard, Poison, Motley Crue and Joan Jett n Blackharts in June 2022 at Truist Park in Atlanta. Called the Stadium Tour (Outdoors), I originally bought the tickets in the Spring of 2020. And then came the Pandemic and after postponements waited over two years. We baby boomers still love our concerts. Rock on!
Def Leppard had a rough start in 1980 when they released 'On through the night' (1st album) produced by Judas Priest's producer Tom Allom... the critics in the UK hated them and they got slagged in the press... The album was poorly received in Europe, but when Def Leppard toured N. America as an opening act, they were embraced w/ open arms.
But they needed a hit record... and producer Robert 'Mutt' Lange (who did AC/DC's 'Back in black' and 'Highway to Hell) signed on to work w/ Def Leppard... In 1981, Lange said straight up, "I need a hit on this album... 3 on the next... 7 on the one after..."
According to the band, Lange pushed for take after take in the studio, and Leppard were frustrated... until they heard the finished album "High n' dry"... They were amazed at their progression from the 1st album. They filmed a London gig for the 3 music videos and by 1982 ('Let it go' being one), MTV was playing Def Leppard and the album sold platinum w/ the ballad "Bringing on the heartbreak" becoming a hit single in the US. Def Leppard had arrived.
Mutt Lange and Def Leppard spent months in 1982 working on the 3rd album 'Pyromania'... and it was a tough record to make. There had to be 3 hit singles according to Lange... However, their founding guitarist Pete Willis was drinking heavily and playing poorly on stage and in the studio... They finally decided to fire him before the album was finished... Phil Collen (guitar) was picked as his replacement and re-did some of Pete Willis' guitars... Released in early 1983, 'Pyromania' was a huge hit in the US, charting at #2 just behind Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'... and delivered 3 hit singles and would sell 10 million copies in the US.
Def Leppard recalled that the tour for 'Pyromania' began at London's Marquee club... and ended in 1984 at Jack Murphy stadium in San Diego.
Saw them at the San Diego Sky Show at Jack Murphy in 83. The lineup was a bit different , Uriah Heep , Eddie Money , Motley Crue , and Def Leppard. Was a great show.
7 hits? Only a handful of landmark albums have ever done that, a totally unreasonable goal for Lange to impose on the band.
My favorite Def Leppard song 🤘🏽🤘🏽
From their first full length album in 1980, Hello America, is a rocker.
Rock Brigade is awesome too.
Check them out.
This is probably one of my favorite Def songs. It just rock and the lyrics are fun. Rick Allen playing in the traditional style with his left hand
Steve Clark (RIP) was the guitar genius of Def Lep, there will never be another like him. Thanks for the memories Steve Clark.
I couldn’t agree with you more. He is sadly not mentioned much anymore, even by Elliott himself. He was the soul and main songwriter for them and it shows in the lack of the previous great music before he died. I will always miss him, and that talent that is so underestimated!!
Early Def Leppard is the BEST Def Leppard. THE BEST! "On Through The Night" "High And Dry" & "Pyromania" are rockers.
Can’t go wrong with anything off their High N Dry or Pyromania album, if you just want a killer instrumental, Switch 625 is really good.
Switch 625 is the best ....what a vibe ....you dont hear instrumentals like that much anymore
This is the Def Lep I love, proper rock and more of a rawness compared to their later work.
I'm going to date myself, I saw them open for Ozzy on the Blizzard of Oz Tour.. in South Fallsburg NY @ Music Mountain.. (Most outstanding Venue to this day) and was totally blown away and have seen them like 8 times.. The last was on Long Island NY @ Jones Beach Amphitheater with Lita Ford & Poison a few years back... No one does a live show like Def Leppard.. Stave Clark passing was soul crushing RIP Steve!
Alright my babies.... There's nothing better than early raw Def Leppard... In your face undiluted heavy metal ‼️💯🔥🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
"High N Dry" and "Pyromania" (both early in their career) were, to me, their best and harder rockin' albums.
Yes, that was awesome guys. To me this album, High 'n' Dry is the best album they ever did. This is the same album that has Bringin' On The Heartbreak that you reacted to .
Those first two albums, they just rocked with the guitarists Pete Willis & Steve Clark. After that they started getting a little commercial to me
But I'd love to see you guys react to some more Leppard from the first two. Here's some suggestions.
More from this album
Mirror Mirror (Look Into My Eyes)
High 'n' Dry
From their first album On Through The Night.
Wasted
Rock Brigade
Rocks Off
I haven’t heard much early Def Leppard…but man, this is a straight-up AC/DC vibe. I can just hear Brian Johnson or Bon Scott singing those lyrics….and Angus Young on that lead guitar. Also a bit of Aerosmith. This is great rock and roll!
My favorite Leppard album. Crazy good with some of their best writing.
Back when the drummer still had both arms. I love that after the car accident he said screw that y'all ain't finding another drummer
If you want early Def Leppard, Rock Brigade or On through the Night are both smoking songs off of their debut album. I remember if you got High n Dry on cassette, there was a song that made you think the tape had been left in the sun or something. On a side note, Def Leppard was my first concert that I went to on my own. Had to wait till I could drive myself. But once I got my car, there was so many I have a hard time remembering off the top of my head. AC/DC, Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Twisted Sister, Loverboy, The Outfield, Autograph, Metallica, Boston, Sammy Hagar, Nazareth, Night Ranger, Foreigner, April Wine and I know I am forgetting a lot. Was definitely a good time to be in High School. Then when I was old enough to hit clubs here in Washington saw Guns n Roses, Candlebox, Mother Love Bone (you have to check them out (Temple of the Dog was formed in tribute to their lead singer and the surviving members formed Pearl Jam and Sound Garden.) Nirvana, Kings of the sun, Angel City (another Aussie band that really rocks) Metal Church, Sacred Reich, Flotsam and Jetsom, Second Coming ( a great band that was screwed by record label issues that killed momentum after their first album was growing fast). Haven't been to a show in a while, but planning on hitting George Thorogood at the casino in August. Keep up your excellent work.
Love it!!! Def Leppard at their best. The whole High n Dry Album was awesome!
Hit and Run from the same album is a must!

Def Leppards High n Dry and In through the night are the best 2 albums they made!!!
You Got Me Runnin is one of my favs from this album.
Yes! Finally getting to their best stuff! Next one needs to be “Another Hit and Run.”
This Album ( High & Dry ) is a brilliant album. It was the soundtrack to a spectacular summer. Keep on keeping on guys
BACK WHEN THEY ROCK 🚨🚧🚨
This is the first cassette tape that I bought with my own money.
I haven't heard this song for decades, and it still holds up.
When these guys were teenagers, they opened for Foghat! What a show
This was the first song from High N' Dry album. I was hooked after it. My favorite album. Wore this tape out! Yes I said TAPE!
This is the Def Leppard I fell in love with they were my favorite band when this stuff was new.
Their best album! "Hit and Run" and "Mirror Mirror" are my personal favorites!
loved this song in High School.
Still my favorite DefLeppard album to date. Start to finish it rocks. Still in my phone music player.
First 3 albums are the best to me. Its pure rock and roll.
The song that was supposed to help break into the US mark is called Hello America. Although, I didn't learn of them till the Pyromania album or maybe it was Bringin On The Heartbreak
They were so young! Me I was 19 Def Leppard great rock and roll band!🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁🎵🎵
The High 'n' Dry album came out in 1981. Phil Collen wasn't in the band yet. With Steve Clark on guitar is Pete Willis. This , the title track ,and Bringin' On the Heartbreak are the bigger songs, but my favorite on the album is Mirror Mirror (Look into My Eyes).
Def Leppard is awesome in concert, seen them 3 times, one of the times Heart played b4 them. Awesome night!!! I have a suggestion that Amber will like cause it has an awesome Joe Bonamassa solo in it. The group is Black Country Communion, and the song is called 'Song of Yesterday'. You need to watch the live version.
“Song Of Yesterday” is amazing”!!
My favorite Def Leppard song! The whole album is gold.
I can’t hear the ending of this song without instantly going into Another Hit and Run
When I heard this song it made my neck snap from banging my head back and forth from the sonic rock coming thru the speakers. Real heavy rock n roll.
Yes this is early Leppard.. need to do something from On Through The Night.. this album was great.. front to back and back to forth.. Mirror Mirror is my favorite off this album
1981 when this song came out from their High and Dry Album and Rick Allen was only 16 when he Joined Def Leppard
This is by far my favorite Def Leppard song. In my opinion this is one of the greatest Hard Rock vocal performances of all time.
I saw these guys in, I think 1983 touring the Pyromania album as the opening act for Billy Squier. Pyromania was such an immediate and hugely successful album that Def Leppard left the Billy Squier tour halfway through and became a headline Act.
One of the first Def Leppard records I bought and I love it. Rock on baby!!!!!
Bringin' On The Heartbreak is one of my all time faves...I think ya'll will love it!
The Def Leppard album that was before the production values went skyward. High and Dry is raw uncompromised hard rock and a great album. My favourite songs from it are 'Mirror Mirror' and thew totally amazing ballad which you need to listen to being 'Bringing on the Heartbreak'.
To this day. This is my favorite Def Leppard song.👍
Saw them in concert in the summer of 1983 in Seattle. The best concert I ever saw!!!!
The entire High ‘n’ Dry album is banger after banger. I once saw Def Leppard in concert (one of many times seeing them), I think it was in 2002, and little did we know they would open the show up playing the entire A side of this album, of course starting with this song. I wish I could experience that again!
The late great Steve Clark. Never been the same for me since he,died 8th January 1991, breaking my heart. Brilliant guitarist and songwriter. They lost their soul for me. Miss him still!
This song was my introduction to Def Leppard. High and Dry is an amazing album. 🤘
FINALLY!!! You're doing my jam!!! I was 11 when this song came out which was the best year since that's also when MTV launched. The other guitarist is original member Pete Willis who was fired from the band and that's when Phil Collen replaced him. Steve Clark (RIP) and that solo is just EPIC!! Rick Allen as usual phenomenal on the drums. They just rocked it!!!
The Hair Bands! Oh yeah! I definitely went through a hair band stage .LOL
One of my favorite Def Leppard tunes, a little more raw and not overproduced.
Moved into a new home a few months ago, first thing after assembling my system.....I popped into the CD player was Def Leppard " High and Dry! It's still in there today!
From west coast Canada, peace.
I was walking home from high school. It was a cold winter day, just a hint of snow on the ground. I was kicking rocks around as I walked along the street like most young teenage boys do. The last thing I hit made it different sound as it bounced off that concrete curb. That all-too-familiar plastic sound. So I had to investigate. Halfway into the edge of the grass I pulled up this cassette tape that someone had lost or fell out of the car. It was this Def Leppard high n dry the name of the album this song came off. It was my accidental introduction . It was before Phil came into the band. A different type of young raw rock that I have not stopped listening to since. Great pull from the past kids.
Going back into the Def Leppard vault!!! 😍
Old Def Leppard is the best Def Leppard.
High 'n' Dry. A great album from a great band.
This song was my introduction to Def Leppard when I was a teenager.
Wow!! This is a great song. This is early on.
They are great live, & great to see in concert.
That's the first DL song I ever heard. The High and Dry album was a banger. Do more songs from that album. "Bringing on the Heatbreak" was a massive hit.
High & Dry, first time I heard from them. Still my favorite from them.
I never noticed how much this song and Quiet Riot Metal Health really sound alike.
This song was intro to Def Leppard. Found it my Sr. Year in high school 40 years later it still kiks🫏
This has always been my Def Leppard song!
Good old Def Leppard !
Hugs from Brazil 🎉
