Cockatoos are the engineers of the bird world. They take things apart and open thing up. They can undo screws, nuts and bolts. They can open almost any chain clasp. They can escape from most cages. And this ability gets them into all sorts of trouble. A friend of ours has 8 parrots/cockatoos/amazons in her basement. One of the cockatoos incessantly picks the latch on his cage then goes to each of the other cages and lets everyone else out for a party. When this happens while she's away at work, the basement looks like a demolition crew spent the day. If you want a cockatoo for a pet, you've been warned!
I feel like you would have a friend over that doesnt know you have a bird and they would walk in and see kids toys and say "oh you have a kid?" And you'd be all "no i have a bird" and then max would walk around the corner saying "hiiiii!"
There r many birds out there but my choice is max. When I'm sick from my tumor I watch max n it makes my life, a little better. Thank u n max, n utube for sharing

Max is brilliant!, and oh boy can he talk back! He has attitude, energy, he is very, very, smart, and I love when he conversates! You two are meant to be!
I have cockatoos as well., they can undo knots take off bolts open c-links open locks .I had to put locks with keys on their cages, they figured out many locks.I have a security system in my house.I had to go home many times when the security company called and said the alarms were going off, due to the wandering birds lol.They are very intelligent beings.I feel very blessed to have been a mom to many birds.They are the sunshine in my life

I have to commend Daddy on his Calmness Capability (CC). I think that Max knows what he can accomplish with the power of his beak!...and most likely RESTRAINS himself because of the love he shares. I think he likes his carrier and just let's Daddy KNOW what, in general, he thinks! 😠☺😙❤💝

LOL I had a lovebird named Peach. She had to be in an Elizabethan Collar once and when I removed it she flew 1/2 way across the room and then turned and "bitched" me out but royal all the while waving and flapping her wings at me. I had to go into the kitchen and laugh because if she would have actually seen me laughing at her she would have continued screaming at me for an hour. LOL. They can be real plain in their ire.

what you said is exactly right. My vet had to make one for her and it had to be large enough that she couldn't get it in her beak at all or it would have been shredded in no time. It looked like she was wearing a CD on her neck and I had to put all her dishes and toys down on the ground and place the top of her cage on cardboard and newspapers since there was no way she could perch with it on poor baby. But it worked and she healed up.
YES, because Maxwell hates to go and get his nails done, the transport is in this carrier - and he knows it, so the carrier, I have understood, is the symbol of the visit to the vet, which Max hates.
We had a Sulphur crested that lived 70 plus years. A much loved member of the family. Great talker, destroyer of things etc. His name was 'old cocko' one phrase that made us laugh and starteled some people was,"Shut the Fcuken gate" lol. rip ol' boy...

Also cockatoos have a VERY long life span (50 to 70 years). So it's like taking care of a toddler for most of your life, 365 days a year.

They do make home visits. We had an excellent avian mobile Vet who came to our house.
