I really like the new version. I like many of the brass and percussion updates, and actual feel that the vocals--which tended to add more and more flourish over time--are now harkening back to the original melody line. There are some woodwind and string runs I do miss, but then I've cherished each musical note since childhood and understand that minor orchestrations will inevitably change from version to version. I love that they did keep the most important musical Easter eggs--like the females echoing "...rica!" and "...'den wings" in the final verse. They do seem to have bad luck with each version including some modern celebrities who fall from grace. In the next update, for that reason I'd love to see a couple less modern sports and pop stars, and a few more examples of "ordinary people" exemplifying America at its best--stuff like Race for the Cure, Habitat for Humanity, scientists and engineers at work (ex. maybe not Elon musk and Mark Zuckerberg, but teams at NASA or National Park Rangers). But these are all nitpicks, and I nitpick because I love the attraction so much. It inspired me to study history. Even today, I think for a Disney theme park attraction it does a wonderful job balancing consensus and conflict history within the narrative of struggling for an ever wider, more inclusive definition of "we the people" as heirs to the dream and promise of America.
Kids might like it, but do they UNDERSTAND what the song and the show production means? I have serious concerns as I feel the kids today have no concept of WHY Walt created this show. That's a topic for another blog/rant/post, etc. though.

While the Americans fight over which version is better, I'm over here in England looking at how lucky they are to even have this! Due to political correctness and overpopulating ourselves with people we can't look after, we're not allowed a show like this without being seen as racist. Even flying the English flag in places is seen as wrong. Some think it needs to be the GB flag so that we are united with 'equality'! I'm all for equality, but countries need shows like these. A reminder of how they became what they've become.

I worked at Imagineering many years ago and if I had seen this ‘new cut’ in development I would have immediately pinpointed the key “beats” in the prior version they either screwed up or missed entirely! Other comments from those who noticed know what I’m talking about. It is unfortunate for all the creative minds at WDI in Glendale not one “clicked” that the SPIRIT in the vocals and the intercut of images was seriously (and disappointingly!) watered down in this new version.
Oh no! They re-recorded Golden Dream. It's not 'bad' but unnecessary and a little disappointing, but the new projection and collage looks better than ever. Guess you can't have it all....
Here is a list of American heroes I REALLY would love ❤️ to see in future versions of the finale: 1.) Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel). 2.) Steven Spielberg. 3.) Rogers and Hammerstein. 4.) Steven Sondheim. 5.) Robin Williams. 6.) John Lasseter (Pixar animation studios). 7.) Stephen King.
Mixed feelings on this one. Not sure why they won’t bring back the 1980 USA Hockey Olympic win over Russia. That’s arguably the most important and iconic sports moment in US history on a worldwide scale. Also, I don’t care for the vocal performances nearly as much as the previous version. It’s a little too much pop sounding and less dignified than before. Plus, it lacks the emotional punch the older performances had, especially at the end. As far as the montage, a couple of good removals but some questionable additions. It’s a wash overall, but there seems to be a little too much political pandering towards the end. This is still a great attraction. The finale doesn’t ruin it, but it does decrease the overall quality a little bit for me. It used to be one of my top 10 attractions at WDW, but it has lost enough luster with these changes to be bumped out of my top 10.
I dont get how they added Elvis and Beyonce but they didn’t add Michael Jackson. Greatest entertainer of all time and cared so much for his country and the world.
I kinda wish they would have included Steve Jobs in the segment with Mark Zuckerburg and Elon Musk. It would have matched better since it is highlighting American technological innovation and entrepreneurs, and Tyson is an astrophysicist. They should have joined Beyoncé with the the previous segment of the ballerina and the violinist, symbolizing the performing arts of American culture, replaced the solo Beyoncé segment with either a tribute to scientists and our scientific accomplishments (Tyson can be included here with two other notable scientists) or some other medium of American culture like novelists, and then have the tech innovation segment still include Zuckerburg and Musk but instead include Steve Jobs (IPhone and Mac were big revolutionary successes that changed American and international communications) or even Bill Gates (Microsoft was also huge), bc Tyson isn't cohesive with the other two and Beyoncé having her own segment without at least two other notable pop or musical figures is rather odd.
Wow! They totally blew the ending and mucked up the bridge. For the life of me I cannot understand why every time the Disney Corporation (not to be confused with Walt Disney) decides to do an update it is at the expense of quality. It appears to me as someone who has been to Walt Disney World over 2,000 times since 1972 that the "modern" Disney Corporation under Bob Iger has replaced the exceptional per Walt's desires with the acceptable under Iger. I have always said the other parks, Universal, Islands of Adventure, Busch Gardens, etc. were "wannabe parks". Now it appears, as the modern Disney Corporation destroys much of the incredible theming at it parks, that they want to be more like the wannabe parks. I could list all the ways in graphic detail, but it would be too long for this space.
Why is it that the modern day heroes added to this montage so often fall flat on their faces shortly afterward? Yesterday Lance Armstrong and Tiger Woods, now Mark Zuckerburg and Elon Musk.
I don't get the hate for this...It's one thing to say, "I prefer the previous version." But why do people feel the need to say things like, "This version sucks! Disney sucks! America sucks!" Is that part of the American Experience now, too? Everyone telling each other what things suck? Citizens of the United States enjoy many freedoms and many choices. (Ever seen the Oreo shelf at the grocery store?) Rather than expressing negativity towards what a private person or some private entity considers to be "The American Experience", why not create your own theme park with your own attraction run the way YOU want? You want the Trump Theatre, playing his image 24/7...build the Trump Theatre. You want the Obama Carousel of Progress, playing his image 24/7...build that.

Lebron over Michael Jordan is beyond comprehension. Also, why did you remove all the current presidents in favor of just Obama? The old one used to bring me to tears; this new one lacks the punch and power it once had. Also shows a clear bias towards whatever CNN is pumping out. I will be walking out once this montage comes on now.

Severely out of place drums, off pitch singers, to name a couple. It is nowhere NEAR as majestic as the prior version. Disastrous doesn't even BEGIN to describe it. And this is coming from someone that lived in Orlando for 15 years and has seen this show COUNTLESS times.
Very disappointed that they took out the emotion with all the really high notes. I like some of the montage changes but mostly not! SO grateful I bought the old version. It makes me cry from pride before but this is now a huge disappointment.
