Haegum is one of the most popular instruments in Korean music and is often considered a bridge between string and wind instruments with a sound that is a hybrid of a violin and a viola.
The other meaning of "haegum" is applied when it is used in popular Korean vernacular, in which it means "lifting a ban and allowing something that is forbidden”.
Yoongi said “The word 'haegum' came to me. When I was young, I played rhythm games. I love rhythm action games. When beating a certain stage, you'd unlock a forbidden song; then you could play a new rhythm. It was 'freedom from forbidden. Why don't I try and break free from those things?'"
His interpretation of "Haegum," is "a new kind of haegeum" which is based on "lively rhythm.", he claims that "Interpretation is free for all" and demands, "Out with the nonsense." He criticizes societal systems by rapping "Freedom of expression / Could be reason for somebody's death" before questioning "Could you still consider that freedom?".
He states clearly in the lyrics, "This song's simply about freeing what's forbidden." However, he notes that it is important to "remember to differentiate freedom from self-indulgence."

I heard that this mv is basically the cycle from Daechwita repeated, over and over again. Sometimes, you're born as the corrupt forces and sometimes you're meant to tear the establishment down. At the end of the video, when the cop smirks right before being killed, it's basically a statement that "even if I die, what I stand for (corruption and power) is never really dead". Basically, Yoongi said ACAB 😌
I think this is about the alter ego; it does not go away by just trying to shut it up; it will stay forever. You have to fight with it in every life step, and it will try to pull you into the darkness.

Yes you're correct Nigel. "Scar" lol, is Agust D. He always has a scar. Representing his own scars. His alter ego, Agust D. He's always portrayed as a villain, a person in power, but nevertheless a villain. He's Suga's opposite side who holds lots of anger, fear, sadness, resentment, vengefulness his darker emotions. Previously in Daechwita, BOTH Suga AND Agust D had scars. He was in a different state of mind, he said he had lots of anger, but here only Agust D has a scar, it's not as red ig he's healing, but Suga has none. He's trying to get rid of that side of himself here. And Suga is Suga, himself. It's always been Suga VS Agust D. But he said in IU's palette that he's changed a lot and has learned to forgive and be a happier person, so Agust D can go to rest now. That side of Suga, Agust D, is gone....for now. He says he's not sure when he'll come back....IF he ever comes back, however he said if those strong emotions return, then so will Agust D. It's kind of bittersweet. He said somewhere in the physical album that from this point on, we can expect to see "SUGA"'s debut....not Agust D, but SUGA in his next album 💜

I heard that the AgustD albums are a trilogy. In Daechwita he “killed” the first AgustD (who’s scar was pretty fresh meaning the pain was new), in this one he “killed” the second AgustD (who’s scar is almost healed meaning the emotional and mental trauma he has he’s started to deal with), and now he’s a “healed” Yoongi. That’s why he has no scars. In one of the promos for the album Yoongi said that this represents a more mature and healed version of himself.

The cop suga is just like the king suga both corrupt in authority, but if you remember in daechwita both sugas had a scar but in this MV only the bad suga is still scarred only slightly more healed then before, the suga with no scar is to free almost jittering witg chaos but is more happy and healed, his personalities are in conflict because there is no balance....the concept is the exact same as before with similar scenes but you can feel that something is different, i think sugas slowly getting rid of his rap alter egos that he used during dark times and finally he will be free to rap as just agustd

"Haegeum" has several meanings in Korean. First of all, "Haegeum" is a traditional Korean string instrument. Second, "Haegeum" can be used as a compound word meaning "remove the ban" or "abolish the restriction" in Korean.
In Agust D's song "Haegeum," Suga uses the word "Haegeum" as a metaphor to express his desire to push boundaries and defy restrictions, especially in the realm of rap and hip-hop music, where he often They are confronted with prejudices and stereotypes.
It's like watching the updated century of Daechwita. He has the scar! The war between Agust D and the King continued.

There were SO many callbacks to "Daechwita"! He did an amazing job, because he's a freaking genius. I think the dirty/corrupt cop was the reincarnation of the corrupt emperor, and the criminal Yoongi was reincarnated from the black-haired Yoongi in "Daechwita". Once again, he killed the corrupt version and took back his own kingdom. Because haegeum also means to lift a ban or to stop forbidding something, I think he's saying that he's now free from what other people say, especially keyboard warriors and politicians, and that he's going to live life on his own terms from now on.
If I don't get an action movie starring Min Yoongi, I think I'm going to die. He was EXTRAORDINARY.

In Daechwita Low-class AgustD kills, King AgustD who was also a tyrant with a lot of psyc problems, and becomes king himself, it also is ancient times.
After low-class AgustD became the new king he isn't a tyrant but he isn't necessarily good either, a corrupt mafia cop who values money and power a lot, and got it the hard way anyways. So, in haegeum, it's newer age and time. Suga who overcame a lot of his issues kills Lower class AgustD who is also the king/mafia now. So the plan is to attack places under him, steal his money and burn it, obviously Mafia loses his temper, and hunts him down but gets killed by Suga in the end.
In Amygdala, Suga explained that this scar was made by his traumas. Daechwita King had a deeper scar, mafia cop had a faded scar. Suga has none, he overcame his past traumas.
So overall it's about growth.
So by killing AgustD, Suga, basically said: "My fan, my hommie, my fam don't worry, I'm really fine now damn"

В Дэчите Шуга убивал своего "безумного короля"
В Хэгыме - "босса".
Это отсылка к строчкам из песни Дэчиты : "Я Король, я Босс!"
Как круто он тут сделал, Хэгым - имеет двойное значение: 1) дословно оно обозначает - Освобождение и 2) как уже писали здесь ниже, это традиционный корейский струнный инструмент. Во времена династии Чосон на нем играли на парадах, фестивалях и королевских обрядах предков. Тогда, как Daechwita/Дэчита (буквально переводится как «великий удар и удар») - это жанр традиционной корейской военной музыки, исполняемый с помощью духовых и ударных инструментов в эпоху Чосон. Daechwita исполнялась во время военных маршей. Сейчас музыка исполняется, например, во время церемоний смен караула в сеульских дворцах Кёнбок и Токсугун.
Так же, он и в Дэчите аналогично высовывался из машины. И изображённый в обоих клипах на одежде дракон. Более глазастые Арми рассмотрели разницу в них: в новом клипе на "добром" дракон с 5 пальцами (ранг короля) и, в таком случае,он показывает, кто здесь настоящий король. В Дэчите на "злодее" дракон с 4 пальцами (ранг наследного принца). И, как и в первом клипе, так и в этом, он с 6 другими участниками, символизирующими БТС, устраивают восстание и все остальные присоединяются к ним, спасают от казни/пыток и дают ему оружие, побеждающее зло.
И новом клипе есть ещё множество знаковых символов, которые поймут лишь немногие.
На вывеске перед Юнги и Ко написано 雪糖面, что буквально означает "лапша из белого сахара". Звучит это как "белый Min Suga".
Цифры в номере телефона на коричневом плакате на улице, тоже символичны: 3102 - если прочесть наоборот, то получится 2013 - год дебюта BTS; 709 - "день рождения АРМИ" - 9 июля; 0309 - день рождения Юнги - 9 марта.
В довершении, по всей видимости, сам Юнги уничтожил все свои альер-эго и остался только он, добившийся успеха парень из Тэгу - Мин Юнги.

This is the end(?) of the trilogy, blonde agust d from the first mixtape became the mad king and commoner agust d killed him (means he killed his power hungry part) and right now he became this cop/detective that is hunting for alley cat agust d but in the end he’s killed too (I think in this part he’s trying to metaphorically kill the system, because he does mention “we are slaves of the capitalism and money” in the song and if you’re pay attention he never really wanted or needed the money he stole, it was all a trap to catch his corrupted by the system self) but in the end of the mv he looks like he’s looking at someone maybe another agust d that is gonna end this cycle or maybe he was the end of the cycle??? I don’t know at this point I’m out of words

Agust D is literally talking about everything that is wrong in the world right now. Since haegeum is a traditional instrument but also means liberation of prohibition. He is really asking who's on board for the revolution, for the new world, for the new kingdom and to get on board now. So we can fix everything that is broken. This is a masterpiece. The lyrics and wordplay are incredible. This is what rap in my humble opinion should be. A way of making people aware of all the social, economical issues and more. And Suga just did that. To add further layers to this, it’s really pointed commentary on capitalism or essentially: feudalism. What became his weapon in the beginning (his tool to criticise & stand up) became a utensil. In the end he has to partake in this because of obligation. literally; to feed himself.
A Thailand ARMY (shout out to Sky_hxneul) was kind enough to educate us and explain that this was filmed in Thailand and that place is called the "Thief Market" Rattanakosin Island's (Old name of Thailand from 1782-1892) and it was the first international shoping center in the period after the abolition of slavery.. This is how he explained it : so this market came to exist because the people in the palace freed from slavery when they moved out of the palace, they received some goods from the master and also stole some They then brought those goods to sell them in this area. Now we know that Haegeum is a traditional instrument but also means the liberation of the prohibition.

I think that is interesting that the original Agust D became the Mad King and the D-2 Agust D became a rich looking cop idk if that's his intention but it very much reads as a critique on corruption by money and power. Especially as he keels them both at the end.

I feel like he keeps tryna kill off the king which is his alter ego, but he keeps coming back and so it's just an ongoing cycle of him not wanting to accept that the "king" will always be apart of him. There's sm more to unpack with how he used to be the one fighting against those with power (starred from the bottom and struggle) and now that he is one of those that's with it he doesn't want to come to terms with it and tries to kill the "king" constantly.

it‘s basically the same concept as in daechwita. daechwita is about a peasant rising up to a tyranical emperor beheading people left and right and in this video, it‘s a robber and a detective/cop. he’s stealing to get by (that‘s why he steals tangerines in one clip) and also to finally feel free (which is why he burns his share of the money stolen when the detective/cop is holding the gun to his head. it reminds me of the dark knight when the joker burns his share of the earnings and says that it‘s not about the money, but rather about sending a message. this is also why he sticks his head out the cop car like joker did. it‘s basically showing that even though a lot of time has passed since kingdoms with emperors ruled with an iron fist, you‘re still being opressed and having your freedom tampered with.
