So many refs to Daechwita :the gang, the market, the traditional instruments, chicken..... Also another Thailand ARMY (shout out to Sky_hxneul) was kind enough to educate us and explain that this was filmed in Thailand and that place is called the "Thief Market" Rattanakosin Island's ( Old name of Thailand from 1782-1892) and it was the first international shoping center in the period after the abolition of slavery.. This is how he explained it : so this market came to exist because when the people in the palace freed from slavery moved out of the palace, they received some goods from the master and also stole some They then brought those goods to sell them in this area. Now we know that Haegeum is a traditional instrument but also means the liberation of the prohibition..

Agust D is literally talking about everything that is wrong in the world right now. Since hageum means also liberation of prohibition. He is really asking who's on board for the revolution, for the new world, for the new kingdom and to get on board now. So we can fix everything that is broken. This is a masterpiece. The lyrics and wordplay are incredible. This is what rap in my humble opinion should be. A way of making people aware of all the social, economical issues and more. And Suga just did that. Salute.

This song and mv has me in a choke hold. Not only did Yoongi's acting get SO MUCH better (and he was literally already a pro) but the entire cinematography supports it.
The song is a banger, no question there.
But the mv is so fascinating. In Daechwita he killed the blonde Agust D because he was too currupt with anger and resentment. Agust D didn't stand for that anymore. But in Haegeum the scar Agust D ended up just as corrupt as blonde Agust D was. It's interesting that the new Agust D basically started the mv by killing a person and ending it with the memory of that. Agust D is a trilogy because Yoongi finally managed to unite himself with Suga and Agust D. They're no longer separate because he learned to embrace all his feelings. But I'm still confused about the new Agust D. I suppose he's still violent because that's what Agust D is. But instead of only killing scar Agust D (like it happened with blonde Agust D) he ALSO burned the money scar Agust D had.

This new version of Agust D (scarless Agust D) is breaking free (hageum) from the shackles of greed and envy talked about in the song, but at the beginning scarless Agust D isn't yet truly free because he's caught up in his own self-indulgence (taking someone else's chopsticks, murder, theft, smoking...). Scarred Agust D from the past MV is also very caught up in these things while he maintains the status quo as a police officer (he's policing while scarless Agust D is trying to break free of that) and that's why they get caught up in each other and face off.
Scarless Agust D starts to turn things around when he burns the money he stole, freeing himself from the shackles it put on him (it stands in for the self-indulgence, capitalism). Scarred Agust D can't get past that though and so begins to torture Scarless Agust D and tries to have him killed for it, but this new free scarless Agust D emerges victorious in parallel to the last transition of power and rebirth we saw from Daechwita.
Finally the MV comes full circle when scarless Agust D returns to the restaurant where this all started, but instead of his previous self-indulgent acts, he asks for a single bowl of noodles and uses the chopsticks as they're intended to be used. I think this last image we're given is more in line with the freedom spoken about in the song.

I'm thinking that maybe the police officer was the yoongi who killed the king, now also becoming engulfed by power and money. And a new version of him has arisen to overtake him. Remember, both Agust Ds had the scar in Daechwita. 2nd Agust D (from D-2) killed 1st Agust D (from Agust D). Now we have a fully healed 3rd Agust D (or possibly just Yoongi himself) with NO scar (our current, more mature and less wounded Yoongi) killing 2nd Agust D. It's the end of Agust D's story. 끝, as they say in Korean.

The one with the scar is the one who killed the blond king in Daechwita, that's why he didn't look surprised when the scarless Yoongi pulled the gun out to betray him. I remember Yoongi saying in the behind the scenes for Daechwita that this was like a cycle. There will always be someone to come and take down the king or in Haegeum's case, the mob boss.
you have to read the lyrics, suga is giving us a message in sound. he is telling us to wake up, rebel against the systematic machines and to free ourselves from chaos. haegeum is a instrument that when played can create various feeling and attitudes. just like the message suga is also telling us, change do not be the slave. the whole album was fantastic💜

Agust d from the 1st album was blond and angry. He becomes a king, with greed in the 2nd album. Then his self has to kill the king that is unfair and greedy. But then in this 3rd album the previous black haired agust d has lost his way himself and becomes a corrupted police chief. So the rebel agust d has to come again and put an end to him as well. And bring himself to the ground, ground himself to reality.
The video reminds me of 3 thing, Old Boy, but mostly the flashback scene in Shang Chi, where his dad goes after the dudes in the restaurants, and Joker at the end

I think I might have it. So, in People he says, "why so serious?" which is obviously a Joker reference. And then in both Daechwita and Haegeum he hangs out of the car just like the Joker did. And then, in this video he burns the money just like the Joker did. Honestly I think that's part of the meaning, because the Joker represents nihilism and the meaning of haegeum is rather nihilistic in nature if you think about it. It means to free something hidden. He even displays a character with scars. Agust D is the Joker.

It would have been cool if it were the other BTS members, but it's not as this music video was filmed in Thailand in February. Suga did say in a video that when the MV for AMYGDALA comes out on April 25th you should watch Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala in one sitting as I think it tells a complete story.

In the live stream he came on before the mv played and said we should watch Haegeum as a trilogy so Daechwita, Haegeum then Amygdala. Possibly he killed the king in Daechwita and now he’s killing the boss in Haegeum so he’s becoming those two things. The Amydala mv is coming out soon so we’ll see how the story ends.
