GoPro 12 connected to Cardo Edge to capture audio over a Bluetooth connection??

- I just picked up a GoPro Hero 12 and the first thing that I wanted to do was to see if it would connect to my Cardo via Bluetooth and allow me to put audio onto the GoPro from my Cardo via that connection. This is the first of a couple of videos where I will be testing this out.

This is some great info, and if it works it could be a game changer. Can not wait to see how it works out.
I agree. The examples that I heard of people using it to record audio when the GoPro is mounted to the outside of the car with no line of site sounded horrible. I’m thinking that having the Cardo right there 3 feet away will give different results. At least I hope so.

will there be an updated video of how to setup the LAV mics?
Makes for a really good contingency if youre the type to record audio to an external recorder. I wonder if playing with the mic placement or adding some deadcat to the button mic would improve things.
I’m picking up my bike tomorrow and will be doing the road test. Video should drop on Monday. TBH… when I was editing the video last night the audio from the helmet sounded better than I’d remembered.
But you’re right… at least using it for a backup audio track to an external mic is a good thing.
Thanks for the vid. I have the Packtalk Edge and i can't record my voice. I hear the Gopro in my helmet with it's start or stop recording but that's it. Does it has to be on phone 2 as it's on the GPS channel right now. Thanks again.

I still use a mic but did use the GP12 and BT audio in a pinch with a new helmet that I hadn't wired up yet. I won't use it all the time. But it's great to have it there when I need it.

Thanks for the Vid, I tried this but the recorded volume is very low. It needs at least a 2X gain. Cardo support told me the Go Pro was specifically not supported. Pretty much unusable as is.
Hi, first of all thank you for making this, it really helps alot deciding what gopro to get, but this makes me wonder, can you live stream (twitch, youtube, facebook etc.) And get cardo mic to be active so you can talk to your live chat?
I haven't checked that out yet. But you can livestream from the GoPro. I might have to try this out.

Hi, did you test "quick capture" on the Gopro 12 with your Cardio? My Gopro 12 will not pair to my Sena 3S using Quick capture. And I only use Quick capture on the motorbike.
Hi. Yes. I use the quick capture record feature exclusively when I ride. It will take 2 seconds or so for the BT audio to connect. If you can see the top part of your screen through your helmet, you will see notification slip come down from the top when the BT connects to the Cardo after you hit the record button and it powers on.
@@withPercy Thanks for your answer. It is good to hear that. When I use the quick capture the Sena says it is paired. The gopro does not show it on the screen and it doen't recording form the Sena. I have to find out why.

Absolutely. The BT audio doesn't do anything with the DMC.
Quick question, does cardo spirit support the bluetooth with the gopro hero 12?
I'm not sure about that. Have you checked the specs on their web site?

Don’t think so, I tried.

i have the gopro 12 and the freecom 2x. but when i connect the bluetooth i get no audio recording at all (it's just blank). any solutions to that?
edit: i fixed it.
the issue was that my microphone was too far away from my mout (bottom of inner helmet). I changed the location of it to be directly infront of my mic and now it works perfectly fine. for some reason i cannot listen to music and record my voice at the same time (maybe because my phone is connected to the gopro and cardo - might be working if i only connect phone to cardo).

Can you use the Cardo intercom system at the same time that it is connected to the GoPro 12 through Bluetooth or does it cut out between the two channels?
It doesn’t impact your Cardo intercom connection.

This will not record the other people talking over your comms channel. It just takes the video off you mic to the GoPro.
@@withPercy I have seen a video pairing a cardo with a insta360. But they connected with de bluetooth INTERCOM option.. then switching to dmc it should record the whole dmc group.. have you tested this?

The Hero 9 does not support audio over Bluetooth, to the best of my knowledge. But I will be checking this out later this month as part of the testing that I'm doing as discussed in the video I dropped this morning here: czcams.com/video/Ey0kcacARh4/video.html
I will be mixing in the Edge on that that testing.

Does the goPro connect to cardo when you use the Quick Capture button?
Yes. That worked for me when I was recording my last video. Worked consistently throughout the day.

@HardEnduroAddict once you pair everything up the first time, the devices will find each other from then on when you turn them on.

Yes, you can.
This only works for the 12 right? not the 10 and 11.
That’s correct. This feature was released for the 12.
While connected to GoPro, will you still be able to receive and answer phone calls?
I believe so but will add that into the test to determine how the audio is managed. Would be interesting to know if, while using the MeshPort Red vs direct connect, if it will capture the audio from the call or not.
Can you record audio while listening to music on Bluetooth ?
I just tried doing this but it doesn’t work well the music has a lot of latency

Yes, you can.
@@withPercy phone 2 I have my Iphone paired on phone 1 the latency is really bad when i try to use both at the same time

You think this will work with Cardo Packtalk Bold?
I would think so. The Bold uses Bluetooth 4.1. The Edge uses 5.2. So the performance on the Cardo side should be better with the Edge. I can’t find any reference to which version the GoPro is using.

@Reaper6BR Very cool! If you’re going to get one from Amazon, I would greatly appreciate it if you used the link in the description of the video to support the channel. I get a small commission on that, but every little bit helps. Plus, I’ve always been able to return stuff to Amazon easily if something doesn’t work the way I expect it to. That would give you a bit of a safety net if the 12 doesn’t support the Bold as good as you expect.
Also… did you check out my audio test video yet? You might want to check that out to see how well it works and sounds when on a bike. GoPro 12 + Cardo Edge - Vlogging test of Bluetooth audio to the GoPro 12. Is it a good solution?
