The reality is, he won’t be tried in court for this, and he won’t go to jail for this so looking at it from today’s current realistic laws, which are really horrible for this type of trauma that she will have for a lifetime is disgusting that there is a statue of limitation, however, since there is a statue of limitation, the court of public opinion will matter. That’s what he won’t be able to recover from because his reputation is damaged professionally and personally across the board for the rest of his life.

Yes laws need to be changed all over the US. We need to start a movement to get Cassie"s Law in place. Contact your local Senators and Congressmen and tell them you want them to take up changing the laws on a State and Federal level. Victims deserve the time to deal with their trauma before they are ready to speak out and it can take them years before they ready. The perpetrators do not deserve to get away with this because the statue of limitations have expired. This is how we can honor her and other victims going forward. I will be reaching out to mine.

The statue of limitations ran out and it takes more to prove criminal liability vs civil. I think it's bigger than just this, Diddy is accused of running an international drug ring so i'm sure they're gathering stuff. I think that will change on Monday. I think they didn’t discuss it for a couple of reasons. The view rarely covers news from the hip hop rap entertainment/community. Secondly, a lot of the news that was covered was speculation and tabloid ish…. However, this is the first time it’s concrete. I would be shocked if they don’t discuss it on Monday.

Unfortunately there is a 5 year statute of limitations for DV in California. However, I did research the Federal DV statute and depending on her residence at the time (NY or CA), she may be able to get Justice under that statute which includes taking a victim across state lines resulting in DV. I’m not sure if their actual residence was CA at the time, but that may be another avenue she may be able to seek remedy. It will be interesting to see. Her legal team seemed to be very savvy in the civil suit so I’m sure they’ll probably research all options.
The federal avenue is already being explored. Remember it was the FBI that raided Diddy's homes.

It looks aggravated kidnapping includes “forcible detainment” and the use of a deadly weapon. I will start by saying that I have been in the industry for many years, and let’s just say everything that is coming out is the reason I left. I’m one of the lucky ones…because I have a couple of girlfriends who were not as lucky and suffered DV and other horrific things. Second, regarding the statute of limitations for simple assault in California is one year. In contrast, the time period during which charges must be filed for aggravated assault is increased to three years. Like you said, this is absolutely ridiculous. We must do better in all states to protect women and victims of DV and get these laws updated. These lawmakers don’t consider the fact that victims, especially the victims of high-powered people, are forced for a multitude of reasons to remain silent “or else.” Therefore, once a person has gotten away from the abuser and has the courage to come forward, OR if footage is leaked by a hotel, person in the circle, etc, releases incriminating evidence, charges should be able to be brought forward.
