If I tried to lift with the form these guys are doing with my chiropractic history, my back would probably explode onto the floor. Conversely, when I simply go slow and do it properly, I can work out even with a not-so-great back.

Instructional video with captions telling you not to lift like the people teaching the lifts, you can't make this shit up..
You see elgins videos and go to your gym and think you won't ever see someone quarter repping. But the unbelievable happened yesterday... two kids were quarter squatting the whole time even with naked weight... they even high fived after 185 for their 1rm.... is there some hotline I can call for help...
I lift at a college gym and I see quarter/half squats all the time.
My gyms the opposite. Nothing but morons quarter squatting on the smith machine wearing weight belts.
I've actually seen a dude quarter squatting ~ 180 lbs for sets of 8-10 with knee-wraps, belt and spotter

i had the same scenario happen but with the chest press and he tried to work in w/ my 2 45s on each side. he slid down into the chair and pushed the weight out at the same time, half-repped it for 6 then just dropped it and made a loud ass bang lmao
Quarter squatting is a regular occurrence at my gym. Some squat to parallel at least, but few squat below parallel. And I think I'm the only one that uses the low bar position, which I only did because high bar with a high amount of weight was not working for me, and I didn't want to use a pussy pad.

I mean, not only all it requires is just a basic understanding of leverages, but can't these morons get it by experience, that the wider the grip, the harder the lift (OHP) is?
I don't think their grip is too wide let alone ridiculously so.
I personally find that a narrow grip is easier from peak height to chin and back, but when starting at the collarbone? I think you will find that a slightly wider grip makes the initial movement a lot more doable.

When you do powerlifting events but forgot the best one, well since they arch their back so bad kinda counts like bench press. That standing bench press crossfit can do it all

Exactly. Back rounding is usually a sign its too heavy. This is why ego lifting is so dangerous and proper form is important.
Great point! Ego lifters leave common sense out of the equation though. The worst part is someone who knows nothing about lifting watching the original video of this will probably go to the gym and try and do the same thing...thinking they're doing it correctly.
elephantrider78 the secret to the Deadlift is to have a solid core and strong push off the ground with the legs. if either side is weak the legs will open up too early and/or the back will round.
