Apollo 125 Supermoto Test Ride | New Sprocket Setup 50+ MPH

  • Last part of the street legal Apollo Build! Installed the Tusk street legal kit and got it registered! Put new wheels and tires on specifically for the street & Now we are dialing in the sprocket size to gain some top end speed for the road to keep up with traffic. Which I think this setup is perfect because I never really plan on going over 60MPH on this bike anyway and it still has some good power left! Also had to throw on a smaller front tire because the 120/70-14 Rubs, So I went with a 90/90-14 and it's Perfect!
    Enjoy the video!

    • @KGRowlo

      If you just want the bike to do wheelies stock sprocket is fine👍but if you are trying to get some more top speed, then change up the front sprocket to a 16 or 17, it’s cheaper and easier to change out then the rear, New chain is a YES and so is the carb🤙

    I don’t think I understand this sprocket change, wouldn’t changing the front sprocket to a larger tooth sprocket lower the top speed because the ratio between the front and rear would decrease towards a more torque heavy bias?

    • @justinshields4216
      @justinshields4216 Před rokem

      But increases low end torque. & helps with just popping it up without clutch help

    • @911Salvage
      @911Salvage Před rokem +2

      It's the opposite. Adding the number of teeth on the front sprocket or reducing the number of teeth on the rear sprocket lowers the ratio between the two sprockets, which reduces the torque transferred to the rear wheel but allows your bike to reach higher speeds at the same rpm and gear. Depending on how much power your bike has, it may or may not be able to reach higher top speed with significantly taller gearing (i.e. lower ratio).

      I had a 1972 honda SL70 that would do 50. I actually have an engine in the next room for one. And a frame and all the bits to build another bike. I got the 150ccrfz and seeing if i can get 60-65 out of it. Moatly do tight trails where 50 is more than enough. We need more bottom end. 1st gear is pretty short in those engines too.
