I saw them when they came to Spokane, WA on July 20th, at Joe Albi Stadium, and it was hot out! Temps on the stadium floor were around 110 degrees, and people were passing out left and right from the heat, hehehe!!! Around 30,000+ were in attendance, and they rocked the place!!
Yes it was 2 days after that show at the Cotton Bowl and it wasn’t awesome at all because Sammy couldn’t sing and finish the show. He came on stage and promised they would come back and do a free show and they did...in December of 1991, 3 years later at the west end, and Q102 announced it that morning when I was at work and couldn’t go and I paid full price for a ticket at the 7/3/88 Monsters of Rock show, the bands on the Bill that day did rock so I got my $’s worth and I got to see the free Dallas show from ‘91 on CZcams so I’m good. Love Van Halen, the Dave and Sammy flavors and will always have a special place in my heart for EVH, may he RIP.
I think Ed's tone was at its best when he was using the Kramer 5150 and marshall/solodano amps. too bad it changed so much. liked the ebmm's too, but that kramer was the best.
For a minute I thought Don Johnson joined Van Halen. ;) Didn't this tour kind of bomb according to Sammy's book? OU812 really grew on me, would have loved to be there. Thanks for posting!!
PeterJurik That's what Ive read. They booked all stadiums. Although with Van Halen, who ere huge, Metallica released AJFA, which sold around 2 million in the U.S. alone, and Dokken who had consecutive platinum albums, you wouldn't think it would of been a problem. I guess the big drawback was people who were VH fans probably weren't inti Metallica and vice versa.
No one had really heard of Metallica at that time. Van Halen has always been good at giving new bands a chance. Gene Simmons did the same for Van Halen.
The tour lost a lot of money for Van Halen. The tour seemed to be cursed, plagued by fans fighting security or od'ing, equipment malfunctions, bad weather, band members getting sick. Metallica came out the best on the tour by stealing the show many nights.
..... and then Ed's BroMan/drinking buddy Sam met a chick and settled down and Ed had to go on and circle the drain all by himself. And that, thankfully, was the end of Van Hagar.
Sam is 10 years older so no wonder he wanted to settle. Eddie called him lazy which is funny because Sammy put out many albums after Balance. Van Halen put out 2 over the next 20 plus years. Eddie's heart was broken by Sammy getting married.
This is so cringe to watch! I mean at least Dave knows how to control an interview like how he does things live. Sam just comes off like a cringe 'yes man' & makes no sense. Its just dumb fake giggling & he talks like a dope! A 5 year year old will say more & make sense than this dribble Sammy puts on. Serious cringe here!
@JamisenPrime No doubt; but in terms of both musical ability and voice (not to mention that Sammy's voice has held up WAY better than Dave's), Sammy is superior. Yeah, in the day Dave made some classic music with Eddie. However, I wasn't a fan of Dave back then and I've never cared for much of the music before Sammy, though I DO like some. (I would add, that Sammy sang the early VH songs better than Dave, in my opinion.) My main beef is that you don''t see Sammy fans (generally speaking) trolling Roth videos to dog him. Roth fans do! It's pathetic.
Graduated high school in '88. Saw them on the MOR tour at the Hoosier Dome. Saw their opening show for OU812 in Lexington, KY.

I got a bad burn there that day. Learned the phrase 'squeeze a silkworm dude.' Americans are funny.
The year I graduated from high school. Wow! I remember this clearly. 10 years in the future, 1998, and that is 24 years ago. Where did time go?
life in America was so great back then.
OMG! Memories 🎊🎉🙌🏻🙌🏻
The opening of Hagar asking if he getting arrested was taken from David Lee Roth.
This was two nights after their Dallas, Texas performance which was awesome!
And it was hot as fu** in the Bowl that day!

Alex reminds me of Mike Damone from Fast Times at Ridgemont High😂
Alex borrowed clothes from Sonny Crockett.
I WAS AT THE MAINE SHOW ! ENJOYED THE THUNDERSTORM TOO...( THAT WAS SUCH A RUSH...NO DRUGS COULD EVER DUPLICATE ! )
Oxford Maine i was there thought they were gonna call the show came out and played for 3 hours at 2 in the morning get show!!!
I was at that Indianapolis show and it was AWESOME!
You sat there for 9 hours?

I agree.
Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing !
Exactly my feelings.
I think it was the EBMM and Soldano era.
@@srincident nothing can beat his early sound but that rig you mentioned was awesome too and it fit the music with Hagar.
I was there. Crazy day. Girls flashing, bottles and ice flying.

@@scoopjohnson2021 metallica was on thier 4th album by 88, so they were not a new band at all just saying.
i was waiting for chris farley to come in and talk about his van down by the river
🎵💖 Eddie 💖🎵🥰
saw the monsters of rock tour - memphis.
Ask us 10 years from now Eddie says. How prophetic.
Not really.
@@Fearzero Yes really.
@@jacsig How so? That comment means he doesn't know what will be in 10 years. How is that prophetic?
Nice pyjama's, Eddie.
why isnt alex wearing his glasses in the interview??
Dat Hair
04:45 There will be a different lead singer
Rona the Bona....
10 years to the date. Enter gary. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The concert with Gary was actually really good it’s just that VH3 album sucked. Lol
No mention of metallica or GNR?
Why?
Well because GNR and Metallica were part of that tour.
@@lambjack1 GNR had nothing to do with this tour. It was Van Halen, Scorpions, Docken, Metallica and Kingdom Come.
@@mancuniancandidatem
I stand corrected Matt.
I was wrong about GnR but I knew Metallica was there.
Rona knew what she was doing. The Today's cameras of the band on the stage wasn't so newsy and awkward like other networks before then.
Ask us 10 years from now. Van Halen just about died in 1998.
He only made it another year 😭
Alex's head looks bashed in.

Sammy is so freaking lame
Major lame....he was a big let down compared to Roth..
Metallica blew everyone away on this tour
Except for Van Halen.
What is Metallica?

Why, I wonder, do DLR butt-sucking fans hate on Sammy so much? Sammy has more musical talent in his left nut than DLR has ever had.

I love Sammy’s hair and he has great teeth! Eddie was just too fucking cute even if an asshole.
Yeah it’s not real insightful! And nobody should EVER be allowed to cover Led Zep. Ever.
@@bucketmouth7667 DLR fans are complete numbskulls who never matured after age 13. But let's be kind to Roth himself. It's all Van Halen to me.
