  • A handmade, custom trapper box for the back of my Ski Doo Expedition Super Wide. This box is made primarily of 3/4" plywood and 2x2’s. It is 25"x25"x20" and weighs about 40 pounds. In time I will add a chainsaw holder, axe mate, shovel hooks and a top wire rack. I’m very pleased with how it turned out!

Very nice box. Another addition I added to mine was a plywood envelop in the back for snowshoes, tall enough so that brush can't tear or snap them off. He also mentioned an angled plywood envelop on the right side that a chain saw bar slides into, held by gravity and a safety cord with the saw powerhead protected by the back of the box. Standard equip on mine for years. I also cover the saw powerhead with an old nylon stuffsack to keep snow off it when I'm plowing through the brush. That and another narrow plywood sleeve on the left side for a Wyoming hand saw and you're good to go

Nicely designed. I hope you paint it or apply some truck bed paint to protect from water. Good point in keeping the box within the dimensions of the sled. Specifically since you will add the chainsaw on the side. Hope it lasts a long time.

I probably will at the start of next season. I want to get a few more coats of Captains Varnish on it first

The gap between the plywood under the hinge will allow water into the box. Did you do anything to prevent that.

It's winter eh. It's liquid and will dry out fast in summer storage me thinks. if you're trapping and taking gear in and out snow will get in anyway eh, especially if you're doing under ice sets ( beaver, rat etc) So gap doesn't matter. I made mine from treated plywood so that all doesn't matter but ya
