Blimey, Mick. My heart jumped a couple of times at least when the engine was falling off the wooden blocks!
Thankfully the unit is back in safely now and the upgraded clutch should be able to handle the power now.

Yeah I had a couple of close calls.. the crane rolled in the garage then slipped off the block outside.. at least I can't drop it now its back in 🤣🤣
The rain was horrible with the wind.. I had to shut the garage door as it got worse!!

I had no Idea the rear suspension arm would be so far gone, I'm actually quite shocked! Good luck with repair/replacement.
Regarding the dash strip, the one which is on the car is a bespoke item which I had printed where I used to work. If you want to see how the dash will look with a black strip google 'Skoda 130GL dash' and you will find some photographs.

Yeah the arms are a bit crispy around the spring seat's but they are generally a bit thin in places and has swollen towards the front mounting bush. You couldn't see the corrosion as it was inside the spring rubber.. Im planning to strengthen them with the additional bracing so would be better to start with solid ones.
As for the dash I had seen a 130 one in black, as I say I might colour the back of it leaving the option to put it back.. or leave it silver we will see..🤔
Lot of work done, a bit scary at times when the engine started to fall off the blocks.👍
The joys of working alone...was a particularly calamity filled day. I had cut my head on the temp sender earlier and dropped a small engine bay panel on my face 🤣🤣🤣
Great work and good progress. Reminds me of putting the beetle engine, and it refusing to line up with the splines. I would have been swearing much more than you😂. It doesn’t get any easier with age does it!? Worth it when you get to rag it down a country road though.
Yeah sometimes they slide straight in, itbwas lined up just didn't want to play 🤣

I is mental, I ran it a year with the 1.8 in but no other mods, was doing 0-60 in 6.2 seconds with a slipping clutch! Upsets a lot of fast cars as its so light.
Changing the clutch was an opportunity to improve it and upgrade more parts

How do you find the enthusiasm to work on cars after working all week on plant (I think from looking at your van)? Fair play to you. Also is the paint inside the engine compartment from the factory? It looks brand new. Unusual colour but I love it.
I can't sit still so always have to be doing something.. Yes I'm a Forklift engineer.. Do about 50 hours a week and 50-60k miles a year.. I dont know how I find the energy to do it either 🤣🤣🤣
The paint was almost this good, I repainted the chassis rails and inner wings just to freshen it up when I converted it the first time..
