In this video I will briefly cover why you need elastics during your braces journey and then dive into the 7 most common patterns your orthodontist may have you wear. We will review triangle rubber bands, as well as elastics for open bite, overbite, overjet, underbite and more! There are obviously more elastic patterns that are different and that your orthodontist might have you wear but these are just some of the elastic patterns and reasons why he/she might ask for your help! I have 4 elastics in and this is my second time in braces. It didn't hurt this much the first time and I never took them out unless I was eating or brushing my teeth. This is the first time I am being bad đ..because it hurts so bad and I am hungry đ

Midline video is the thing I am pretty interested into!
I am 5th month into my braces journey and I have a small midline difference, one side crossbite with a narrow upper jaw, so a cross bite video will be also pretty interesting! Thanks for making such an awesome content! đ

Make sure you get some wax. A true mouth saver! Take some Advil or Tylenol before you get them on too. Itâll help with any discomfort. It will be well worth it in the end! âșïž (I had them at 20 and have to get them again at 37 đ€ŠđŒââïž)
So Iâm 7 weeks in with Damon metal braces and tbh no pain what so ever, didnât need any painkillers it was hard to eat first few days due to my bite block on one side but got used to it by the end of the week also used some wax first 3-4 days but my cheeks got used to it, now I have parrot elastics literally was given them today hence Iâm back here lol and itâs not painful .. well not yet lol

Iâd love to see a video about the different time periods of braces treatment and the side effects of them. Iâve been wearing my braces for over 4 years now and still counting. I just want to have some sort of idea of what could happen or just more general knowledge

I had a variant of class 2 elastics. My ortho crimped one of those hooks on the wire in between the brackets on my middle and lateral incisors on either side and I wore the elastics going from those hooks back to my molars on the bottom. Worked super fast for me.
I'm currently wearing 2 triangles on the right & left. Also, please do a midline video! I'm learning so much from your videos!
I had class 2, triangles, class 2 triangles, and anterior box elastics over the span of about a year and a half and now my teeth are perfect!
I think your videos are great for patient education.
I stumbled across your channel a while ago. I have stolen your analogy of rolling a ball up a hill for a lot of things when advising patients (like wearing aligners or wearing elastics)!

Why did you feel like it was a mistake? Because of your age and being embarrassed? Or the pain? Or because during treatment the teeth can move into even weirder spots?
Have you gotten them off??? Iâm 33 and 1.5 years into my second go with braces! This time Iâm doing everything right since itâs coming out of my pockets!đđ€Ł
@jaj4706 I felt like I had made a mistake, mostly because of the pain at first. They absolutely shredded the inside of my lips, and I couldn't get any relief. It was awful. Then seeing the transition and worrying that the outcome wouldn't be the best and thinking maybe the before wasn't so bad. Haha I just worry about everything and braces were no exception. They are a huge expense and wondering if it would be worth it was unnerving at times. Surprisingly, after a while, I kind of enjoyed having them and was sad to see them go. My teeth aren't "perfect" after having braces, but I do think it was worth it.
@jessicab331 Yes, I have had them off since October 2021! I was very careful and tried to do everything right as well because it came out of my pocket! Braces are expensive! And for me, I had added travel costs because my orthodontist was over an hour away. Haha. So, I definitely tried my best to be as careful as possible. I hope your second journey with braces is a good one! They will be off before you know it! I miss mine sometimes. Haha.
I have the one for the overbite but since my last appointment last month, my ortho told me that I now only have to wear the elastics when sleeping, not during daytime anymore đ„łđ„ł
Yess to both videos please!! I am currently wearing Zebra for my class 2 elastics and triangle elastics patterns and Leopard size elastics for the Anterior Box pattern.
My midline was off because when I was a kid, I took one of my brother's elastics and put it around my two front top teeth for several hours to lessen the gap. Only one tooth moved, so my midline wound up uncentered. Ended up with a gap next to the tooth that moved, but I didn't really notice it for years, and from head on, it wasn't as bad as the center gap was. My dad wouldn't pay for braces for me after my brother didn't wear his retainer, so here I am at 35 with braces after repeatedly delaying getting them since age 19/20.

Hello Dr. Greg!! I just want to start off by saying thank you so much for your videos. Youâre channel is my âgo to, for all the questions I have on my braces journey. Although you do an outstanding job at answering all of my questions... I just have one unanswered about elastics. Does a patient have to wait until a certain point in their braces journey to start wearing the elastic bands? Iâm asking because Iâm about 3 months in and my mid lines are slightly off (only Iâve noticed) and sadly my orthodontist hasnât really made this journey fun and full of information during my visits. It just feels like I am part of his routine and I donât get the chance to ask questions because heâs already out of the door and onto the next patient. This video was VERY helpful. I currently have kobayashi ties in the front and they have been tearing up my mouth. This is my second time having braces and Iâve never been in so much pain. An extended video on how to deal with and/or ease the pain would be greatly appreciated.

My dr said he needed to do that to create space and he tilted my lowers out to meet my top. But i dont like the way my bite looks. Some front teeth dont even meet. And he is ready to scan me for my retainers. Should i say something?? And Main question js WOULD WEARING THEM LIKE SHOWN IN CLASS 2, FIX THE FOWARD TILT ISSUE?

with my first set of braces I had the canine to canine cross but I also had elastics that attached to metal buttons on the lingual of my top molars and attached to the buccal of my bottom molars. I think they were expanding my upper arch

After seeing other people rubberband pattern Iâm thankful I only have to wear one on my left side
I remember having to do triangle elastics when I was a kid with my braces, and they gave me horrible headaches from the pulling. I don't miss those days, but at least I know now why I had to do it

I wore class II elastics for at least 3 visits, yesterday they changed it to triangle, I had a small overbite so understand why class II, but I'm not sure why they made me wear triangle but since they are the experts I'm gonna continue wear them even if they hurt a lot!

Currently class 2 on the right. On the left side, I have an elastic connected to inner hook on my lower 4 connected to the outside up my upper 4 to correct cross bite.

I'm wearing the box pattern from my 12 year old molers to my canines. So it is like the box that is used in the front for an open bite but mine is being used for that to put my molars together.

I m wearing elastics on upper lateral incisors and 1st lower molar... I have space bw all the canine and 2nd pre molar as my all 4 first pre molars were extracted.. I also have scissors bite wrt lower 1st molar and second pre molars on both left and right side..elastics will correct scissors bite also . I had blocks there earlier but now my orthodontist told that instead of raising block we r going to use elastics

I wear clear aligners. My dentist bonded directly to my teeth metal buttons on my lower molars and a plastic (I think) on my upper teeth to fix a class II bite. I put on 6 1/2 oz heavy elastics.
When the teeth move with these elastics it actually moves bone structure in mouth or just the teeth?
