    🩺ABOUT DR. BREWER
Dr. Brewer started as an Emergency Doctor. After seeing too many preventable heart attacks, he went to Johns Hopkins to learn Preventive Medicine. While there, he went on the run the post-graduate training program (residency) in Preventive Medicine. From there, he made a career of practicing and managing preventive medicine and primary care clinics. His later role in this area was Chief Medical Officer for Premise, which has close to 1,000 primary care/prevention clinics. He was also the Chief Medical Officer for MDLIVE, the second largest telemedicine company. More recently, he founded PrevMed, a heart attack, and stroke prevention clinic.
At PrevMed, we focus on heart attack, stroke, and cognitive decline. We serve patients who have already experienced an event as well as those who have not developed a diagnosis or event. Dr. Brewer provides services via telemedicine or in-person if you're in the Lexington, KY area. We find a lot of undiagnosed prediabetes or insulin resistance. Treating unrecognized risk factors like prediabetes allows reduction of risk and prevention of disease.

I had an HA at the beginning of June. I've lost 35lbs since then. Since February I have lost 70lbs. I have been severely overweight for over 2 decades. I do not plan on stopping until I lose another 120lbs. That will put me at 200lbs. You can do the math from above.
All I have done is eating healthy, rarely eating out (if I do it is someplace with healthy options (Thai Green Papaya Salad is a weekness), and getting plenty of aerobic exercise (walking 32-25 miles a week), and low weight/higher rep resistance exercise 3-4x a week.
I have 2 stents now. One in the Widowmaker, which was 100% blocked, and then the next one up on the left, which was 60% blocked.
Leading up to my HA, I was eating really bad and getting little quality exercise. Had I minded my doctor about my HBP they had been warning me about for the last 3-4 years, this could have been prevented and I'd be at or at least a lot closer to my target weight.
I am not dieting. I am not an exercise freak. I just make healthier eating choices and have controlled over eating, and I make sure I get 30-90 minutes of exercise 5-7 days a week. That's all it takes.

I just had a HA caused by an 80⁒ blockage of my LAD artery. After 2 stents inserted I can now walk uphill without being breathless. The doctor said I would be on blood thinners for a year and low dose aspirin forever. Blood thinners don't seem like a burden to me as they might help prevent another attack.

This is great information! I bought your Prevention Myths book. I understand that stents don't prevent heart attacks or stroke. However, I was having chest pain, and other heart symptoms like dizziness and fatigue. Having a stent placed relieved those symptoms and enabled me to exercise and be active again. Had I not had the angiogram, I would have led a sedentary life because of the symptoms.

I had a heart attack at 50 and 3 stents were put in. a dozen years later I was having similar symptoms that I had before my heart attack. All the tests that I had done showed no problems. After my insistence, because of my past history I was able to get a Cardiologist to sign off on getting another angioplasty. While on the table the Doctor said oh no this isn't going to work. I then had a triple bypass done. So prevention is better than a cure, but when there is no time for prevention, I will take the cure. If nothing else it gave me another 5 years.
A video on what to do after stents and bypass would be helpful.

Adding to this , having a heart attack when supposedly very fit was a shock, 1 stent unblock the artery, no plaque found calcium only, evidence of repair,
Then a new treatment with a lazier, 4 more stents, poor advice I got for lifestyle change, as I was not fat in my view but not told of low carb options, 4 years on learning my problem was most likely pre diabetes, Keto has changed my body for sure
Eating fat now, still hard to find support other than online ,

Over 25 years I have lost 85 lbs. (about 33% of body weight) fast walked 4-5 miles most of that time, made major dietary alterations (although not Very Low Carb until the last year). I have a very low stress life at 69. Recently, I had cardiac Cath and had 1 100 % blocked artery and two 80% blocked arteries. I have Type 2 Diabetes for about 25 years and hypertension (controlled with medication.) My calcium scoring test was 2460, but I have no obvious symptoms (no chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, headaches.) My most recent AG1C was 6.1 (from a high of 10.3 four years ago after injury after being struck by a car.). My doctor recommends open heart surgery, which I probably will be having soon. I guess my question is most of those negative results are because of those bad old days. All of the efforts of the last 25 years were not in vain?

i had a triple bypass a couple years ago. what i noticed was that there's a kind of war between internist, who recommend stents, and surgeons, who recommend bypass. i choose bypass, cause its one and done, while i would have need 3 procedures for 3 stents and with stents i would have had to stay on blood thinners for rest of my life with no guarantee that the stents wouldn't clog. and, actually, i didn't do it for me, i did it for my wife's and mom's peace of mind. i had no symptoms at all. the only reason they discovered the blockage was cause i had an afib incident during my yearly ECG but i didn't even have typical symptoms of afib, only occasional heart rate spkes when using the elliptical machine. if not for my wife and mom, i may have opted to try and manage my disease as i understand that there is a treatment to grow coranary arteries (mine had actually grown to cover my blockage) and drugs in the pipeline to dissolve blockages. if i had this video then i might have convinced them otherwise. oh well, i choose what i choose, ymmv.

while much of this is important, along with nutrition; when one has several blocks or high blocks, it is alittle late for alternatives to fix that without many of these medical procedures' too. risk still involved, and prevention can come from many reasons with such too. i think it it depends how bad one blocked. life style with it then could save life cause lifestyle and natural takes time. Some dont have that time. sure lifestyle is the answer, but also talking about those 70%+ blockages or suppose to be for stent. i am one who believes in natural and cured stage 4 with natural. NYT IS A JOKE... WISH YA KEPT THAT OUT. LOL STILL INTERESTING video. thanks for sharing. just keep in mind, TIME IT TAKES IN NATURAL VS BLOCKAGE STENT TO GIVE YOU MORE TIME. THERE IS THE REAL ANSWER! if one can't stop smoking/eating, go get hypnotized by lis PHD. it is a very high success rate.
