Thankyou, pleased it helped.
Cheers for this, big man.
No probs bud. Thankyou for watching.
Thanks very much for your instruction most helpful as I have six doors to varnish.
@Nic Ted. Thankyou Very much, all the best with doing your doors.
Great tutorial. Much appreciated
@Luca Milne . Thanks for watching.
Great Video!!
@rafael diaz . Thanks very much.
Nice one👍
@Mark Crotty . Thankyou very much.
Very helpful guide. Good to see you can varnish them while they're still hung. Does varnishing the bottom edge require taking them off their hinges though? Shame I didn't see your video before I bought the varnish though, as I initially bought the Ronseal satin light oak, which gives the wood a green tint!
Thankyou Very much, yes you would have to the door of to paint bottom edge, try and get it before it gets hung, but to be honest with it being inside it should be fine.
Good job
Thankyou very much.
Nice one
Thankyou Very much.
Great vid mate! I have 13 of the very same doors to do. Quick question why do the edges first?
@philbert Ramsey . Thankyou Very much, so you dont disturb the face of door, you just disturb the edge.
This is very helpful thank you. Would you say a brush or roller would leave the smoothest finish?
I think brush, but i dont think i have used a roller, if i did i would probably use a foam roller, Let me know what you choose.
How long do I need to wait after the first coat was applied before starting on the second?
@Radu . About 2 to 4 hours, depending on temperature.
You dont see connectiom when you varnish half doors and then others half , is it not darker in the middle? And is it not better to do from top to bottom each piece?
As long as it is wet its fine, What you are suggesting is good to.
Great video, I have the exact same doors fitted recently; most of them were 'pre-finished' when purchased from Wickes but there were 2 which were 'unfinished'. I'm trying to varnish the unfinished ones so they're the same colour as the pre-finished ones however not sure if I need the Clear Ronseal varnish or possibly a Light or Medium finish. Any ideas?
@Jeetinder Thiara . Thankyou Very much, if the prefinished doors look the same as the door in the video then its maybe clear satin.
Can you use the same technique for an exterior front door
@Anita Chin . I dont see why not, jusy make sure you use an exterior varnish or woodstain.
👍
@Stephen Smith . Thankyou very much.
Doesn't the door need oil based varnish. That's what the instructions said on the door from doorstore. It takes 16 hrs to dry.
On oak veneerd door a good quality water based varnished is recccomend, apparently the oil based varnishes can react with the glue that sticks the vaneer.
When does the top edge get done?
@Richard Dent. The same time as the bottom edge lol.
@@Inexteriors nice one lol
How long to wait between coats
2 to 4 hours depending on the climate.
Can you add any water into it?
i cant see a tiny bit of water doing jt any harm, check the tin..
