Thanks for watching!
Just had my tonsillectomy, and one week after, my sleep apnea like symptoms are gone already. I now sleep much better and wake up energized every day. Looking forward to see how it is one year from now, when I’m fully recovered and back to my normal life and diet.
And I gotta say, first time watching a video here, the title caught me, but you are very likable girl! And you have a beautiful smile 😉
That’s awesome. What made you get a tonsillectomy, also did you have a sleep study done prior to the surgery?
You have such a wonderful soul 🖤🖤🖤. Thank you for the Update! And the recovery video. Its been my to go to day by day. (As I'm recovering).
This is the most helpful video I’ve seen!! Thank you so much for making this ❤
I’m on Day 8 and haven’t spoken in 6 days, haven’t eaten a morsel in 3, and you inspired me to talk even though it hurts and girl you’re so right I am feeling better already from it. It really loosened my jaw muscles ❤️ tomorrow I’m gonna try some food, but the problem is now that the scabs are falling off the flesh is so raw everything burns like ACID
Eat baby food. Don't risk it with solids. I'm on day 6 and I'm not happy, but eating the baby food pouches are making things easier.
From day 4/7 are the worst then after that everything get better quickly, the first week is horrible I’m on my day 6/7 now and finally the pain has gone down and those clots are almost out, I had blood cots which nearly developed to secondary haemorrhage but thankfully my body responding with TXA gargle which enhanced the clotting and got discharged home today all in all the worst is over now, voice is slowly coming back and the pain is down and I’m looking forward to a future better lived and these CZcams Vids got me through it all so thank heaps guys 💪🏽👏🏽💐💐!!
i’m on day 7 and i’m really scared for the scabs to fall off can anyone give me any tips?
I’m 25 and I’m on day 8 and just started spitting up the scabs. My lord this process is disgusting. I was prescribed pain killers and I highly recommend anyone with this surgery get the same thing because I couldn’t have gone through this without. Being able to drink alot of water without it hurting has been a blessing
Whewww I’m on day 5 I’m just ready for the pain to be goneeeeeee Jesus this is my first surgery ever and it’ll definitely be my last unless my life is threatened and I need a surgery 🤦🏽♀️ I’m 19 years old and my throat literally feels like I’m swallowing nails no matter what I do
Drink a lot of water so it can be moist .. specially early in the morning I use to be about to cry😭
How you doing??? I’m on my 3rd day
5th day here, I'm so tired of this...
@@RominaGX you got like 10 more days😭 good luck .. drink a lot of water .. it won’t hurt as bad
@@RominaGX you got like 10 more days😭 good luck .. drink a lot of water .. it won’t hurt as bad
It is so nice to see that I am not the only one having these complications
Your fashion sense is refreshing. Love that top.
I’m on day 11! I have loved watching your videos to get through this.
I’ve sneezed a lot since my surgery. If you feel a sneeze coming, open your mouth while you sneeze. It makes it hurt wayyyyy less.
I haven’t stop sneezing I’m day 14
Day 2 here 😢 Thank you for this video. You seem very sweet and kind. Appreciate you ❤
How are you doing now
@@dollsNcats well it’s been over a week and it’s been a journey. I’m hanging in there. I’ll be glad when recovery is complete.
@@smw4900 hey that’s better then horrible. Mines in a month so I’m nervous 😣
Day 2 here, can't drink water without it going to my nosd and having to cough and then proceed to have pain lvl 100
@@RominaGX I read a tip somewhere to tilt your chin downward when swallowing. Sometimes it helps. Sometimes not. Ice chips (Sonic) were really a better option for me at least
She’s baaaaaaack
Sure am!
@@SophiaLazuli glad to have you back ☺️
I’m on day 6 and Chile it’s been a roller coaster. But definitely try to eat and drink as much as you can the first second and third day. It’ll help you stay hydrated and healthy. Of course it won’t be easy but just know it will help when those hard days come.
Hello, I have gotten a “Balloon Sinuplasty” and it helps a lot with your sinuses, being stuffy, and not being able to breathe out of your nose. I highly recommend it and the recovery wasn’t bad at all, I had no pain! I hope this could help you!
You might be allergic to something you are eating. I found out I was allergic to corn and wheat which is in nearly everything. I have other food allergies but these two make my sinuses swell up. Thank you for the advice!!
Thank you for giving me hope.
you helped me so much a month ago when I had mine
I’m so glad I could help!
Day 9 here, the first week was absolute hell but I’m doing so much better than I was . Can’t wait to eat solid/ hard foods again
Thanks, Sophia!!!
Here I am on Day 9….it had been and still is horrible 🥺 coughing hurts so so bad ! Had to get cough meds from my ENT doc because I coughed my scab off and it interrupted my sleep for days. Ty for this
Hi Sophia, thanks for sharing what have worked for you during your recovery process. I'm on day 4 and I agree that the pain was terrible when your throat is dry. I always experience so much pain during bed time maybe because that's the time my mouth and throat become really dry as I am too lazy to drink my water during my bedtime. I also wanna echo in what you said. That tingling feeling every once in a while in my throat that's tempting me to cough was always a struggle. My doctor also said to never ever give in to coughing or clearing my throat as it could bleed my wound or worst, the sutures could fall off. Anyway, I believe this pain I'm experiencing is still not yet at its peak. Will I ever go through it? I don't know. But I don't have much of a choice right? but to get through all these misery.
Did it ever get worse??
I'm on day 7/8. So ready for this to be over with.
I'm at day 6 of recovery however, day 3 I was bleeding so hard I was back in the hospital, I just got out and need a speedy recovery.
How did u go?
Its the end of day 7 for me and Ive been in the hospital all day because I have a tiny cough then boom blood flowing out of my mouth, me choking on the blood etc. This experience has been so scary for me and I can't wait for it to be over.
Wow the same thing happened to me twice so I had to have a second surgery
These are the longest videos that I have ever watched on youtube and her experience had me concerned. I am 51 and I chose to do the opposite of her. As of now I'm on day 2. The doctor said to take the hydocodone with some kind of food. Within 5 hrs of my completed surgery, I ate 2 puddings, 2 cresent hotdogs and 5 tator tots. I forced myself to drink a lot of water and ice chips. I used my voice. My hope is that I will retain some muscle memory for speaking and swallowing. I bought a humidifier and put icepacks around my throat. This morning I ate scrabbled eggs and pudding. I am sticking to a strict schedule of taking the pain medicine along with food. So far everything is going well, I'm hopeful that the tougher days ahead will be bearable.
Did your doctor prescribe Tylenol n ibuprofen too ?
@@STackinDre Only tylenol. He specifically said no to ibuprofen because it is a blood thinner and we did not want a chance of bleeding.
@@shawndecow8468 interesting I’ve heard this before but then I also see people where prescribed both smh 🤦🏽♂️
@@STackinDre I only used Tylenol when I decided to quit taking the pain medication. I think that the use of ice packs helped with any inflammation that I may have had.
@@STackinDre with the meds I was on I was told strictly no Tylenol
It’s Been Like 3 Months Since My Surgery & I Havent Gotten Sick Either !!
That’s amazing!!
In the uk the first thing we eat , pretty much immediately after, if crunchy toast, salt and vinegar crisps. It’s actually safer to eat as normal, crunchy foods as possible
I actually didn’t have no pain after day one
No ear pain
Only thing I say is drinking water hurts more than drinking juice and coughing still hurts today but I started eating mashed potatoes and gravy on day 2 and started eating BBQ on memorials day and that was day 5 but I was actually good and I thank god for that and today is day 13 and tomorrow is day 14
How you doin now?
Thank you so much for this update!!!!
I’m a week post op today and starting to feel a tad bit better. My tongue is a bit swollen and I haven’t been able to eat or get much fluids in because the pain was too much to bare. For me I couldn’t do ice packs on my neck or ears because it made it worse so I did warm compresses but I’m just ready to eat something. Have not gone pooh in a week and it’s so uncomfortable
I was told to stay on a soft food diet for 2 weeks post op and it hurt to eating be anything too solid and now I'm hearing people eating toast, burgers, chips and whatnot in the first week. Like that's wack, I've been on a strict applesauce and yogurt diet lmao
Did it help with breathing? You look much slimmer now
Also, try cutting out dairy that causes a lot of mucus. Helps a ton. Meat can also be a factor
Did you get your adenoids removed too? I’m supposed to get both removed bc I have the same nasal drip and congestion along with other symptoms and they said it’s my tonsils but also my adenoids!
It'll be a year for me in January. I'm still feeling like something is back in my throat is that normal?
You look beautiful!
Thank you!!
Day 4 and it’s been a painful journey you have to stay on top a medication regimen even if your feeling a bit better.
Just wondering did tonsils stones gave you bad breath and did it actually went away after having your tonsils removed????
I too wanna know this
tonsil stones will go away because you no longer have tonsils. i’m on day 6 and i’m feeling alright.
March 25th 2024, got my tonsils removed today. I’m 26 years old. I always got tonsil stones, sore throats 12x a year once and month & it came to the point I couldn’t even eat food because food will get in small holes I had in my tonsils. The main part that hurts is the swallowing. I have a very high tolerance pain so it’s safe to say that’s the only thing bothering me. The swallowing hurts my uvula is so swollen looks like a bottle cap. Nothing beats this suffering for 2 weeks then living with a lifetime of horrible tonsil pain.
I'm on day two and your video really helped
cute and informative video!
How long after your surgery we’re you able to eat fried crunchy foods?
I'm on day 5 and it is literal hell. The constipation from the anesthesia is killing me.
im on day 5 and the constipation is the worst part
@@austingarvey9315 you will get through it, I promise. Give it another day. I hope your pain levels are not too bad.
When were you able to eat citric items and a normal diet again after recovery
Girl I wanna do mine and I watched your video and I’m terrified tbfhhhh
Surgery in a month . I’m so nervous! But I can’t wait till I stop feeling like I’m choking
can you smoke a couple months later after getting your tonsils removed?
I’m being a baby right now and I’m on day 9! I haven’t drank any water the past 5 days because I’m being a baby in it being too painful and not eating anything lol I think I needed to hear this so thank you! Also my throat is sore allll the time! I struggle to psych myself up to take the med because it gives me such a sharp pain in my throat and ear :( how did you psych yourself up to take large pills for pain killers? I can’t even drink water without wanting to cry and I thought it was meant to get better by now lol
Chew ice chips or have a slushie before you take your pills! Really helps me
Hi Sofia, ur video is so energising ♥️.. I wud be grateful if you cud guide me on my issues.. I hv tonsil stones for past 1 1/2 yr .. hv to clean my tonsils every alternate day.i hv been recomm surgery by traditional method by one ent whereas other recomm coblation.. also I’m 42 .. hv heard about tough recovery in adults.. I’m petrified 😰to hv surgery.. can u plz guide on the same .. also will surgery fix my prob of tonsils stones
I just had mine (tonsillectomy) yesterday.
Mine were large and obstructive, ent felt that because of that and history of tonsil stones it was prudent I got them out even though I never get sick.
After the surgery, the dr said they were full of gunk and stones and it was a good thing we took them out.
Honestly, even though I never get sick, I do feel that I was low grade fighting stuff all the time. Kind of ironic that I’m super active and generally feel good, but still could sense that there was always something my body was working against. I also did have chronic sinus congestion that cropped up two years ago. I have a septoplasty and turbinate reduction in July whiched helped, but not all the way. I’m on day one post surgery and I can breath beautifully through my nose-all day and all night. I think the tonsils were definitely aiding in the blockage and lack of immune system fighting what was happening in the sinuses.
I got a tonsillectomy a month ago and I still feel discomfort. And also I felt like the pain wasn’t that bad but the ear pain made it worse
Check for milk allergy, I had the same nasal congestion problem earlier and was diet-related
This is my second day, I have been able to eat some solid foods. pain is manageable but it just feels like something is stuck in your throat. I can”t lay flat on my back to sleep though, because I can’t breath when I do that. Anyone else that had the same experience with sleeping? I have to sleep on my side now but I hate that. Anyway for me the pain is definitely not as bad as I thought it would be
I’m still in recovery but my throat freaking itches and my scabs are falling off thank god
When you visit the ENT do you request if your tonsils can be taking out or do they Suggest n if so what do they look for n do to determine if your tonsils need to be remove
Hi I’ve had reoccurring tonsilitis (6 times in one year) and just went to a specialist(they’re called an otolaryngologist) yesterday. There are three criteria that can qualify you for removal. You only need to meet one to qualify but I met all three. 1)sleep apnea/throat swelling/snoring 2)reoccurring sore throat/infection 3)craters in your tonsils that harbor bacteria /tonsil stones.
Day 8 post-op here! I’m a bit disappointed I was hoping you would provide information on the healing process on the long run! I’m interested in knowing after how many weeks did you feel completely healed? When did you start eating and swallowing normally? When did your voice go back to normal? Most of what you said is already covered in your previous video.. Thanks for the video nonetheless x
Sorry I didn’t cover exactly what you were looking to hear! I felt 100% back to normal probably by day 22/23. That’s when I stopped feeling the small bit of discomfort in my throat when I talked, that’s also when eating and swallowing was 100% comfortable to do again too. The way my voice sounds never went back fully to how it sounded before the surgery. Pre-surgery I sounded very nasally and my voice was a bit deeper and post surgery my voice is a little less deep and a little less nasally and it has stayed like that. Hope that gives you the answers you needed! Let me know if you have any other questions & I hope you have a smooth recovery!
@@SophiaLazuli thanks That helps a lot! Thanks x
It's been 2 months and my throat has never felt the same.Still can't fully open my mouth with my tongue out.My throat just doesn't feel normal ugh
How has it been for you since?
Anyone had Taste Buds issues!? Im on my 3rd week and food dont taste good to me. I can handle salty stuff but nothing sweet. Please tell me this will get better.
Meee! My taste is gone. Did you get it back
@khadijatahira5389 Ohhh nooooo 😮💨
Well, NOT 100%. I can no longer have chocolate (taste like trash). My taste buds are still not good. Alot of food taste weird or no taste..I preffer to eat Spicy and Salty now. But........ I'm happy I no longer have mouth infections. I wonder I will ever regain my taste buds back to normal?
Do you eat dairy?
How long it take to get better from pain
Tell me how much time to take heal properly. I mean. Its been months to get complete recovery ? Plz reply
She said in another comment that she was 100% better by day 22 or 23. Usually it takes like two weeks for you to feel okay talking and stuff.
you confort me so much , I am on day 7 and honestly still can"t eat or speak haha . but I have faith really , and I hope to eat a cow soon

I’m on day 7 now & it’s so bad. What day did things start turning around for you?? I’m so afraid to wake Up the next morning thinking it’s gonna be worse than the day before

It’s been almskt 2 months now. And I’m feeling some random sharp pains & burning sensation in my throat. Is this normal? Anyone else experiencing this as well??
are you still getting them? I'm thinking of getting mine removed but worried about the side effects.
@@method341 I’ve got mines removed a while ago. I haven’t had any really bad side effects … just a lil uncomfortable every now & then But it’s worth it
I’m on day 8 so close to day 9 I’d say day 6 was the worst but when I woke up this morning ouch it hurt so badly
how long until i can eat normal again? i’m on day 7 someone please help
How has your recovery been ? I just got mine out 6 days ago and I’m in so much pain, the taste in my mouth is horrible and my ear aches are unbearable
It hurt when I didn’t drink water & it would dry up & crack & bleed
I was crying so bad tho after
Anyone ever experience a bunch of hives after theirs like around the body arms and collar bone and face
No longer does the smell of butt radiate from the back of my throat and im so great full for that, on day 3 so far
Did they stitch it up after surgery?? To not cause infections and get skin attached??
They cauterize your tonsils off. (Basically burn them off to prevent any bleeding immediately, they never stitch them or anything)
laxitive gummies have been heping me. The brand Senna. I've been pooping since day one. I promise it helps. As well as gatorade!
I’m on day 5 and my damn ears!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😩 lord how do i stop this. No throat pain, just ears. I think I’m going to buy ear drops for pain relief because what…the… hell lol
Lmao yeah it be like that on day 11 and I eat fine now soft food the pain is the worse
The ear pains are the worse! I’m on day 7 & I don’t know how I’m gonna get through this 😔
haven't poo in 4 days. did u have problems with this. I know because my diet changed.
How do you feel now after 3 weeks?
Poo the 8th day ...I was beginning to worry. My thorat still feels dry at times. Is this normal? Almost 2 months after surgery
@@purplebutterfly-li6kp I think it’s pretty normal but ring your doctors just in case and keep a water bottle with you
I'm not really losing much, however, my water intake is crazy so knowing that it's water weight I'm not shocked. I'm on day 6 and I'm in hell. My pain med schedule was every 5 hours and I'm barely making it to hour 5. It's crazy. I was eating soft solids on day 2 lol. I had french toast. I was toe up after lol.
I think the mucus production from dairy is dependent on how much you consume as well. Some are more sensitive. I found out I had mucus from the stupidest of stuff that wasn't even dairy. I tried to keep my dairy consumption down but that was hard with mac & cheese and popsicles.
How was day 7 or 8. Did the pain just drop to 0 all the sudden? And did u have clots that came out ??
@@ammarateem2105 I can't remember but I think I was out of the woods by days 10-11. No clots.
