I'm on day 11 now and have been watching a little of each of your vlogs each night to give me hope for the next day! Thanks so much for documenting this! I'm excited to be feeling normal again.
Oh wow that makes my heart so happy đ€ youâll feel back to yourself soon!
Same!! Im on day 8 and the pain is still horrible! Im so jealous at seeing people eating real food đ
Great Pt.2 update video. Lovely family đ€ blessings
I appreciate your blog during my recovery. Iâm on Day 4 - end of day. Iâve found it really helpful to eat. Iâve had pasta w purĂ©ed veggies, soups and was able to eat some salmon tonight. I was able to eat eggs and prosciutto for breakfast too. Not eating and lacking any energy has been the worst part, so if youâre able to eat, do so as soon as possible - this was my doctorâs advice.
Yes me too necause eating will reduce the pain too
I'm on day nine for recovery. I had to have an emergency surgery to get mine removed and I have four weeks left in my semester at school. ahhh horrible timing! it's definitely been hard to do this recovery on my own without my mom. thanks for the video! it's been so helpful!
Your family are so amazing and sweet!
Yawning and sneezing HURTS my bf made me laugh on day 7 and it stretched my healing site and ripped off my scab. Day 8 my throat was killing me on the side the scab ripped off of. Ear pain is still really bad. Hoping day 9 is much better! The end is in sight hopefullyđ€đŒ thank you for the video!
Thatâs one thing nobody ever talks about is the ear pain! Whenever my pain flares up, I donât feel it in my throat. I feel it in my ears and itâs enough to make a grown adult cry like a little kidâŠ. And yes, I was that adult yesterday. Going on day 9 so hopefully tomorrow it wonât be as bad
Iâm on day 8 and lemme tell you, as an adult, this has been the worst surgery Iâve ever had as far as pain. The one thing nobody tells you is the ear pain. Iâve also been using the ice pack and itâs a godsend! So canât wait for the nagging sore throat, cough, and runny nose to go away from it!
Thank you so much for recording your recovery! My 13 yr old son is getting his tonsils and adenoids removed next month, and also by coblation method. Iâm trying to prepare with foods and things that can help with recovery. This was very helpful! Where did you get that ice wrap?
Hi! Iâm glad my video could help! I have the ice wraps linked in the description of the video!
@@karenemilyh You had tonsillectomy by coblation?
@@BeccaB789 yes!
You have a beautiful family, so supportive. I'm day 5 and I'm so sick of it already đąđ
Day 7 for me ! Hope youâre healing well !
Those veggies looked delish.
They were! Making them again for Christmas!
Day 3 over here!
I had my tonsillectomy 2 months ago and it was the worst pain Iâve ever experienced but I feel completely normal now and I donât regret it at all. Once I was able to eat solids again, nothing tasted the same but now my taste is completely back. Itâs definitely worth it in the long run but if you donât need it definitely donât do it.
I recommend the surgery 100%, itâs pain for a maybe a week but then my quality of life is already better! Iâm four weeks post op!
When weâre you able to chug water without it hurting bc Iâm on day 7 and Iâm Abel to drink it but it still hurts like sometimes I feel this sharp pain on my left side of the tonsil they took out but I just want to be able to chug water again so bad
Did your uvula swell ? Iâm on day 17 abs uvula is still big
@@vionnajones4416 Hey, my uvula was huge for like 2-3 days. Itâs normal unfortunately
@@vionnajones4416 It is super huge! I feel it push any fluids back out and takes like 3 attempts to get it down.
I am healing pretty fast! I am on day 9 post surgery and not much pain except for the loose skin trying to get into groove with the other skin. Still hurts a little when I eat. Today I had an egg sandwich. Tonsil scabbing started day 6 completely gone by day 8. đźVoice sounds different lol but I can sing my tail off now without having to strain to sing lol killing it! Throat still burns a little but for the most part. I healed pretty quickly and the pain wasnât too bad at all. It was annoying but wasnât that bad Iâll give it a 3/10
I'm on day 6 rn and finally was able eat again. Bread, popsicles, and jello again. Praise the lord lol. I really hope I'm on the upswing from now on.
I think you are! Eating again is a good sign!
Iâm on day 6 and although itâs unbearably painful when my painkillers donât work, as long as I take them every 6th hour I feel kinda human?? Iâm really hoping this is the beginning of the end!
What kind of tonsillectomy procedure did you have? Coblation? Electrocautery? Other?
Thanks for your video. I know it's been a year, but do you remember about how many days it was until you felt completely normal again with no sore throat and were able to eat as before? I'm on day 16 and still having some pain and eating makes it sore after, even though I try to avoid rough foods.
Hi! It was def a month before I could eat normally without thinking about it
Iâm on day 6 I tomorrow have day 7 just wanna heal been drinking lots of water đđđœ when can you eat normal again tho ?
When do the scabs start falling off, and does it make you gag?
What I found helpful during my recovery, hope this helps too! đđœ
1. Drink plenty of water especially in the early hours of the morning even if you have to set an alarm for every 20 mins or so because if you donât itâs more painful when you wake up in the morning having not drank any weather during the night and very early hours of the morning.
2. Watermelon đ stock up on watermelon in the fridge and eat that when you wake up itâs very soothing on the throat.
3. Coconut water
4. Ice pack that you can tie/wrap around your head so that you donât have to hold it, eBay and Amazon do these sort of ice packs
5. Eating regularly as possible
6. Keeping up with medication
7. Aloe vera juice
8. Plenty of rest
9. Watch other people who have documented there recovery this will help you feel less alone and give you more tips to help you recover
All the best, you will recover and this will pass, you will get through this â€
im feeling really good on day 7 i ate some pizza and spaghetti, scab hurt on day 6 while drinking water but todayâs so good, yesterday was okay
Iâm on day 8 and the other night hurt so bad itâs still hard to drink and eat but they gave me a liquid with Tylenol in it helps a bit but not really want to feel better already thanks for the help đ
Howâd you recover? Iâm on day 8 right now & Iâm still feeling crappy đ I just want this to be over with.
I must have been lucky - 5 hours after surgery and had a 3 course meal, no joke! Soup, Salmon & vegetables, Chocolate moose. Worse day(s) was maybe day 6 and 7, where the pain was a 7/10, but only when I ate.
I ate everyday, with little change to my normal diet and by day 9 I was able to eat with with hardly any pain - maybe a 2/10 at worse.
The one problem I do have though is my sense of taste is weird now (it was fine initially after the op) - this is now 3 weeks after the op.
Overall it was NO WHERE near as bad as I was expecting, at it's worst it was like a very sore throat but nothing the pain killers couldn't deal with. My advice is take you pain meds on a schedule, whether you feel like you need them or not.
I would have no problem going through it again, as it was nice being off work for two weeks.
Yes! Staying on a schedule even if I felt okay was definitely important! Thank you for sharing your experience!
you probably dont care but does someone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account??
I somehow lost the password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
@Ira Jose instablaster =)
@Russell Zakai thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Russell Zakai it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my ass :D
I am on Day 7 now, your recovery videos have been a blessing, I have had a few complications and not out of the woods yet but I am eating again and the scabs are coming off and that humidifier really helps thanks for the tip. Wishing everyone reading this comment a safe recover and just hang in there and Itâs all worth it at the end. đđœđȘđœđ
Hey Iâm on day 8 & still hurting as well. How did your recovery go??
Imm so ready for mine to start taking a turn & how did you know the scabs were falling off? Did you have like a burning sensation? I feel that a lot more now
@@Chelzzzg_ Yeah it was horrible the scabs starting coming off and the pain levels went up âŹïž but make sure you donât skip your pain meds and keep hydrated. You can use warm water with a bit of salt to gargle a few times a day. It get better from here onwards, donât stress too much if pain levels increase, you should be able to tolerate solid foods within 2 days :-)
@@ammarateem2105 Iâve been forcing myself to stay hydrated, it just sucks to swallow cause Iâm still feeling that sharp feeling in my throat :( but I will definitely start the gargle! Thank you so much for replying back & I really canât wait to start feeling actually better!
@@Chelzzzg_ Yeah it sucks just keep positive and gargle you will get there Iâm rooting for you đȘđœđȘđœđȘđœ
Just keep up the pain Meds and swallowing is the worst, it gives greater appreciation to eating
When were you able to chugg water without your throat hurting
Today is my day 14 after this surgery. I almost lost my hope to recover even when day 8 turns. I have lost alot of my weight. And having gastritis due to abnormal diet. It was harder than my expectation. I still feel the pain but which is not intolerable.
yeah it definitely sucks. like who created such an inhumane surgery that is 1. is incredibly painful to swallow, 2. prevents you from eating and 3. prevents you from being able to keep down meds due to lack of eating. its a vicious cycle.
on another, more embarrassing note - have you suffered from bad constipation or am I the only one?
@@austingarvey9315 I have improper digestion too. Bowel Circulation is disrupted due to improper diet. I continued to have Lower chest pain caused by peptic ulcer and gastritis.
What type of tonsilctomy was it? Coblation or traditional. All of the tonsils removed or did they leave tiny bit behind, called partial tonsillectomy? Thanks
It was coblation! Everything was removed
My worse days were day 4 and 5, felt better after and then on day 7 a couple of hours before my post op appointment I started bleeding. Literally gushing blood. I swallowed so much blood that I felt nauseous and threw up a blood clot. I almost fainted, but thankfully my cousin was taking care of me and was able to call an ambulance. They gave me IVs and checked for any internal bleeding just in case at the hospital. The next day was my post op and he was able to remove a left over clot and burn the area. Its Day 10 now and I feel so much better. I look back on the earlier days and think wow I can't believe I went through with this surgery lol . Last night I was able to eat broccoli cheddar soup and I felt a lil sore afterwards because I ate all of it and it's not use to it. Not gonna lie Oxy has helped me with pain through this process, but I definitely took them a lot of hours apart as pain tolerance got higher. Sending love to anyone who has had to recover alone. This is hard and idk how I would've done it without my mom and my cousin staying with me for majority of this recovery. Grateful.
Okay serious question, what do you do with the scabs? Iâm on day 6 and Iâm nervous about them.
Hi! Honestly I never really noticed them that much. Sometimes Iâd feel like there was dust or something in the back of my throat and I can only assume it was the white scabs flaking off as I healed! Lasted about a week!
I made it to day 9 and ate some bacon last night it made me have hope to keep going đđ
Youâre so close!
Ii lol just fill
Hi Karen, Thanks for the video. I have a question. Could you please say if you felt like some thing stuck on the throat after the surgery? if so for how long how was it like?
Hi! I donât recall having that feeling Iâm sorry!
@@karenemilyh Thankyou so much
For me it definitely felt like that. I have excess scar tissue thatâs healing so it still feels like that sometimes but itâll get better when the scabs come off
I'm on day 10 right now and I've had this feeling up until today;; it's definitely the scabs and most of mine came off day 8 and 9
Did you feel your scabs? If so did they make you gag?
When you got your tonsils out, did you throw up from the medicine they gave you? Do you have to take it or can you take your own medicine?
đđ
Iâm getting mine out before Christmas, how bad was day 7 and also did you ever have pain/difficulty with coughing up scabs and with them coming off? Thanks
Hey! Feel free to check out my week 1 video, day 7 is in there! If I remember day 7 I was able to eat mashed potatoes and was one of the first days I felt an upswing! I didnât experience any pain with the scabs, a humidifier definitely helped! There were moments where I would start coughing for no reason and I assume that would be small pieces of the scabs :)
Lol day 7, where you were feeling pretty âhumanâ
I found your videos helpful to kind of know more of what to expect đđŒ
@Sarah hahaha that was the best way for me to describe it! And Iâm glad it did! Iâm on day 17 and I only took Tylenol once today! I feel pretty much back to normal now :) I still have some white towards my uvula and the main area of where my tonsils were but itâs not painful anymore! For dinner I was able to have roasted potatoes and vegetables!
Yess I feel the same way...I even got bleeding while my scabs fall..
Today is my day 15,i feel better evryday and i ate everything 80%i am fit now
I am leaving now in this months and the pains are horrible yes I worse pain that I experienced in my life....I am currently day 8 going in day 9.....it's just a nightmare
Iâm on day 3 and Iâm honestly struggling with the taste in the back of my throat! Did you use mouthwash? Also I think my pain tolerance is like yours cause I donât know if Iâve felt the major pain yet! Was it say 5 that was worse for you?
Hi! The taste was the worst for me too! I didnât use mouthwash but I got a very small toothbrush and I tried to brush my tongue to decrease the taste, it def worked! I feel like mouthwash might burn, def ask your doctor first! And day 4 was the worst for me! But it also wasnât even the full day it was just the morning that was bad!
@@karenemilyh I think I know what you mean Iâm just on day 4 and canât even sleep in! Itâs not as bad as tonsillitis can be but I know this pain is worse than the first 3 days, did you wake up in coughing fits all the time? I try not to cough hard just as small as possible and drink water to slow the coughing. Thank you!
@@jasminesua2114 hi! I definitely woke up once or twice coughing but more like when you clear your throat, not full on coughing! I think that started around day 4, and that was the scabs healing and âflaking offâ, thatâs what my doctor said! Bc when you wake up youâre really dry since you havenât been drinking water for a few hours! I remember waking up at about 4 am coughing and my mom was with me and she helped me get water and relax me!
@@karenemilyh thanks Karen youre a really huge help! Did you check the progress of weight loss?
I donât know how Iâm going to get through the next week and a half Iâm starving!
@@jasminesua2114 I didnât lose too much weight! I didnât keep track but by day 6 I was able to eat more like mashed potatoes! I kept drinking water to curb the hunger
Today is my 10th day post op and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. First 5 days were easy for me. I barely felt any pain, just discomfort when swallowing. I was just alternating Tylenol and Motrin. Days 6-8 were worse for me since the scabs were falling off, so I had to take a couple of hydrocodone. On day 9, I noticed a bit of bleeding at the back of my throat when I was eating but it stopped. Overall the pain that day was mild compared to before. Day 10 I barely felt any pain and am slowly leaning off my pain medications. I just canât wait for day 15 when I can finally eat actual food and not be hungry 24/7!
Im on day 8 today, when could you eat solids? I still cant eat soft foods only jelly, its so annoying
@@dannyhectare4295 I started eating solid food around day 11 or 12 I think! I just had to chew it thoroughly
How are you doing now? Iâm on day 8 & I just canât wait until I start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel đ Iâm still dealing with some scabs & itâs annoying because it feels so uncomfortable in my throat. Did scabs falling off feel like a burning sensation?
Iâm on day 9 of my recovery and it hurts like hell , no pain medication works for me. Even the saliva burns my throat . I wake up in the middle of nights and the worst part here is I canât even scream ngl itâs a tough thing to deal with .
Hoping to recover soon .
Hope youâre feeling better?
How long until your uvula stopped swelling? Mine is still very swollen day 5.
It took a while! Prob over a week
okay im on night 14 and im still in pain even with paracetamol , all i can eat is eggs and water, everything else burns so bad and gives me earaches, this has been the most painful experience of my life.
Oh Iâm so sorry!! Have you tried extra strength Tylenol? I found that the Percocet they gave me made me feel worse! If you can ice your jaw and ears, I know it sounds weird but it really helped me! Also sleeping with the humidifier helped so that the area wouldnât dry out! đ€ just remember this wonât be forever!

I am on day 13 of my second recovery, (I had a bad post op bleed on day 12 of recovery from the initial surgery and had to get everything re cauterized and start the whole process over đ©), and I find it really hard to fully swallow soft foods. Like noodles just get stuck in my throat and I have to swallow one bite of food like 5 times to get everything down. Has anyone else experienced this? It makes it really hard to want to eat.
I just did on day 10 and I lost a huge amount of blood from it
I had the same thing happen to me . Second recovery very slow . Soft foods still gets stuck . Mouth stays very dry. Oh forgot to mention Iâm 63 years old . Hardest thing Iâve ever gone through.
