I was literally just watching COLOSSAL earlier this week and thinking the same thing about Jason Sudeikis. He ends up being the main antagonist in that film and his performance is amazing!
From the wacky high energy dancing guy backing up Kenan in the "What up with That" skits to...wow. Go, Sudeikis! I'm impressed. Comedic actors practically always do killer dramatic work--you're standing on the shoulder of such as Tom Hanks here, big fella. Did not even recognize Evangeline Lilly with the ultra short blonde do until she smiled! She is always sensational. Criminally underutilized actress. Plus I also see excellent supporting actors who have been brilliant in shows like Fargo, The Good Wife, and Boardwalk Empire. This is a must-see.
Damn, I'm excited to see this. I'm really ready to see what Sudeikis can do. There's a lot of criticism about comedy actors going straight, but I feel like if you appreciate the art of acting and filmmaking, seeing an actor explore and evolve their talent is pretty awesome. I think he'll kick ass in this role. Now go get em', Pete Twinkle!
Tried to watch The Skeleton Twins (2014) with Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader and couldn't make it through 15 minutes. It was exactly the case of comedy actors trying way too hard to be serious characters, who, in turn, were trying way to hard to be funny. Yuck!!! Of course, they had to read the lines written on the script, and both have redeemed themselves admirably in later attempts.
My wife and I agree that a good dramatic actor typically does not hae the timing to be a great comedic actor where a good comedic actor can usually nail a dynamic role.
This looks great. I’m so happy his career is moving him in the right direction, he has a lot of talent. I suppose it helps that I have a huge crush on him. I bet he wins an Oscar one day.
Shea whingham is awesome, I really liked his acting on Perry Mason. This feels like a film from the 70’s, like a tense thriller/drama. Bravo for Jason sudekis showing crazy range, from Ted Lasso to this, just astounding.
Always thought Jason Sudeikis did not get even half the credit he was due for what he brought to SNL and his comedic roles in the movies he's done since. Glad to see he's taking chances and it looks like he did well.
When I saw Jason I was thinking this wont be good because he is a comedian always with the comedic roles but to be honest from the way the story seems to be plotted from the looks of the trailer this could be a seriously good movie. Jason might be getting more dramatic roles in the future if this movie goes well then he deserves it!
