Even if you don’t know Jimmy Jam (alongside his longtime collaborator, Terry Lewis) by name, you’ve almost certainly heard his work. For more than 30 years, Jimmy Jam has been at the helm of some of the greatest, most influential pop, funk, and R&B records, bringing his indelible sonic signature to the works of the S.O.S. Band, Lionel Richie, Aretha Franklin, Boyz II Men, Usher, Chaka Khan, and, most notably, Janet Jackson, as well as countless others. After a lifetime of numerous Billboard number-one hits, alongside a slew of Grammy Awards wins and nominations, Jimmy Jam has more than earned his tenure as the chairman emeritus of the board of the Recording Academy. Among the many, many instruments that led to so many timeless tracks, Moog’s Minimoog Model D beats right at the heart, and Jimmy Jam stopped by Sweetwater to check out our exclusive mahogany version of this lauded analog synth, bringing the funk with a few tales along the way. Check it out!

I remember having the opportunity meeting him back in the late 90's on the rooftop of the WCCO building in Minneapolis at a party with sports people. I even challenged him to music trivia. He told me that he may not win that game, because he can get anyone to sing any song, and when the song is made, he may not know who did it in the end. Great dude. I also met Kevin Garnett at the same party. Ahhh...the late 90's

When Jimmy Jam and a synth meet each other, funky stuff is what you're about to get! Not to mention the stories he tells about The Time and Roger Troutman... Great!
