its been a dream of mine to have a microbus to travel the country in and do landscape photography. I decided to start watching some restoration videos and was pleasantly surprised to see this video as the first one i clicked on as I live not even 20 minutes away. Always blown away by youtube and how you have no idea the cool things your neighbors are doing. Cant wait to see where this project goes, and who knows, if i ever get a bus myself in the near future, will have to give you guys a shout. Keep doing what y'all do!

One of the things I like most when watching the VW Life crew @ TJK HJ is that almost everything is so neatly organized. Even in the mail room. Respect!
"Just one thing a day." is the best advice for restoring any old car. There is always, ALWAYS, some little thing you can do, even if you only have a half-hour there is something. That's the difference between taking a year or two and taking 5 or 6. Those little things add up and make you cruize along! I keep my list on Excel because I don't have a space for a flip chart :)

I have a one car garage, where the 72 bug resides, and my 80 westy sits outside, (a daily driver going on 40 yrs!) So yea, Im jealous of a garage that lets you work inside! Wow, I wish I had a workshop like that to do my 71 bay in, it was restored 16 years ago and is starting to show signs of some love needed😀. I have just given my 70 bug to my son Jacob for his 21st birthday this week so he is going to restore that. Great vids guys keep em coming 👍🏻

I have a kind of off the wall question for ya! I am a disabled senior who uses an electric power chair. The gross weight of my chair with me in it is approximately 450lbs would the floor of one of your restored buses support that kind of weight? My dream would be to trick out a bus and remove the seats so that I might be able to go places transporting my chair.
What do you think of owning a 1975, and older, Volkswagen beetle to avoid CA smog test. would it be cost effective, or would maintenance cost be greater?
Yestherday order a set of safari windowns for my 67 bus and some other items from Wolfgang International. Funny being out here in Iowa lock down not shopping at all, when my debit card company saw the order they called me . Sir we your card was used to buy Safari Windows ????? from California was that you ?? Question Jake, Soda Blasting is that where you shack-up a can of coke pul the lid and blast away?? I like your methods and action plans in restoring a bus. Good advise on doing one task everyday on your bus. There is still a lot of work i can do sitting from a stool working on my bus; base on that my bad legs, feet and bad not an excuse for moving forward on the 67 deluxe. My mighty arms still work great, ok at my age anything that half way works it mighty.

Our main piece of advice is to do one thing a day. Even if that's just cleaning the garage or working on one little nut or bolt there is plenty of CZcams videos on Pacific when you need to look up how something is done. Also you could try joining a forum if you have more specific stuff like www.aircoolers.org
Mostly the difference is in the motor. It's going to have the type 4 Style with fuel injection if it hasn't been messed with. But basically they're very similar

Question, hope you guys can help. I got a 72 super beetle and for some reason the battery won’t charge up when the car runs , we always gotta jump it and keep it running but once we turn it off and try getting it to start again it won’t start up. Hop you guys can help me out !
Hey weird question, but could you explain all the layers that make up the body of the van? I'm thinking 3 layers (base metal, primer, then glossy paint) but I'm not sure. Im an artist, its for an art project that I need to know. Also is the primer super matte and rough or is it smooth and glossy?

get a test light and see if you have power going from the alternator to the battery.
