#Gladiator #Gladiator2 #Hollywood - Zábava
Gladiator ended with Maximus reuniting with his family in Heaven. There was no need to make a sequel to this classic at all
But money!
Elysium, not heaven
This!
Fans: When will you stop beating that dead horse?
Hollywood: As soon as it stops spitting out money!
@@skidmodasame, same but different
Hollywood: "There is a black actor in it, cue the rap music."
Also Hollywood: "The fans are racist."
I knew the exact reason they put that in there
Hollywood when they're called out: *surprised pikachu face*
I just watched the trailer and I'd say it actually looks like it could be pretty good. But man! That rap song is so cringe, that might single handedly stop me from seeing it.
@@ressljs Exactly, it looks like it has potential to at the very least not suck. But no matter what, a sequel to a classic such as Gladiator will only serve to tarnish the original.
The rap music turned me off when I watch trailer
I remember my grandmother saying to me: “I don’t care what they tell you in school, the Colosseum was designed for its acoustics for rap concerts.”
Makes sense to me
😂🤣😂
Dem gladatorialls wuz kangs...
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Haha this is perfect!
Rap music for the trailer was a seriously terrible choice 😂
Just shows how degenerate they are
Very American Hollywood bordering on cultural vandalism.
Right?! I was so confused when that started.
Hahaha. What garbage.
Crappers have to get paid somehow. It's not like they appeal to a crowd who buys music 🤷♂️
I refuse to watch anything with Pedro Pascal. Don't forget he compared Trump Supporters to Nazis.
That’s why I stopped watching Mandalorian. Oh well. I sailed the high seas for the first season and first two episodes of season 2 anyway.
Yup and his career wasn't affected, meanwhile Gina Carano made a Star Wars themed joke about pronouns and they tried to erase her from the industry.
That bothers you huh lol.
@@KevinKeys-KKDouble standards in full effect. Pascal is such a weak little beta male.
And?
The first movie wrapped everything up. There is nothing to build a sequel around. It's a testament to Hollywood's lack of ideas.
I could see, if they had done it right away, that they could do another movie built around the consequences of Maximus' defiance, like it fermented a gladiator/slave rebellion. However, unless they recast everyone and set the movie right after it doesn't really make sense for the effects to take this long to start to be felt.
Correct. They have run out of ideas
100% obvious
Simply not giving it the gladiator name and removing references to the original film could have easily made this into its OWN film but nooooooooo we are in the era of sequels
At this point it’s them “hanging out”. Maybe some money laundering, tax write offs, Segx ual favors for fame. After parties with coke.
That trailer made me feel absolutely nothing. Not anger. Not joy. Just nothingness.
Same feeling as watching Star wars the Force awakens💯
This is the new Ridley Scott experience 😂
Because it’s just not creative. They can only make “anti-art”
Revulsion.
This is how I feel watching all new movies now. For at least 10 years. Most of the time I can't care for anything happening, the heroes, plot, resolutions. It all sucks, everybody is unlikable, bland etc.
Gladiator 2: Electric Boogaloo
Oh man this is priceless. Thank you for this reference. Electric Bugaloo y’all!
Off jokes aside, This Gladiator sequel looks like a Cannon Films production 😂😂😂
😂😅
Steve, you beat me to it! 😂
"This time, it's personal"
I'm disappointed that the great Denzel Washington attached himself to this garbage.
Its a paycheck
Money talks, actors walk.
That fake accent was so corny
I honestly don’t think The Equalizer series paid him that well seeing as it wasn’t that good. $190mil for the first one, and $190mil for the third lol. I’m sure they paid him a fair amount for this.
For a paycheck, and to phone in his performance.😂
This is NOT the original story for the sequel. No doubt the script was "updated" for modern audiences.
Scott has made so many cringe woke movies kately
Just proves HollyWoke has NO CREATIVITY LEFT. They just reboot/remake shit and won't take chances and something new.
I'm pretty sure they proved that a long time ago
Exactly. And they are also the ones that get mad about AI.
AI has better creativity thank HollyWoke
I’d hardly call Ridley Scott woke, would you?
I am pretty sure that there are people with creativity and innovating ideas, it's just they are not allowed to write or produce anything without interference from studio executives.Sadly Hollywood has become a woke echo chamber and they hire talentless people just because they tick boxes or share the same ideology.
@@donna25871ridley scott hasn't made a good movie in a while, woke isn't what I'd call him

LOL Yeah, that's some stupid bullshit 🤣
The problem isn't Denzel. He's great. The problem is the trailer made it seem like it was Training Day in Rome and not Gladiator.
That sounds like a great parody.
That's exactly how I thought it looked
"Julius Caesar ain't got nothin'...on me! I'm a gladiator, you just live here!"

The problem he is playing an Algerian, and the Algerians are white. It's exactly like the Black Cleopatra but in worse, because Algerians are far more violents and nationalists than the Egyptians.
Hollywood should not play with these people, seriously.

You do understand that there were black people living on ancient Rome, right? Look up Septimius Severus
@@xaviermartin390 Severus wasn’t black, although there were people that we’d consider black in the Empire. A small minority.
Denzel didn't even try to do an accent. Rome is right outside California.
Don’t they usually jus give Romans British accents for some reason?
@@CatotheE I'd at least think roman's would sound italian or something. Though I wouldn't be able to imagine what a historically accurate accent would be like from thousands of years ago from any empire.
@@marcfilms999 I think an Italian accent would be the closest, usually in American productions, Romans are given British accents.
Having seen Napoleon where there’s just a random conversation scene, then suddenly cuts to Napoleon dogging his wife from behind, I’d say Ridley Scott doesn’t have it anymore.
Napoleon was an absolute dumpster fire of a movie…he’s def lost it
Also the last duel was unbearable
@@williet.3058 Agreed, all the nice cinematography, crazy battle scenes, and atmosphere couldn't distract me from the clear "all men are either evil, useless, or stupid" narrative in that film. Trash.

@@ressljs 100% agree, he’s always been hit or misses …But lately it’s been 100% misses…He’s def lost his touch
Hollywood has completely lost all creativity & imagination . All they do is make sequels to movies that didn’t need to be made.
The music choice lost the movie tens of millions because of appealing to 'modern audiences'
Hollywood after seeing the ratio: ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!
"No!" - Rogal Dorn
Lol this meme will be reinvigorated once again
Nope, we are not.
They spent what was almost this past decade telling old fans that they are toxic, bigots, and every other name under the sun, all in the name of chasing the "modern audience". But now that said audience couldn't sustain their several hundred million to multi-billion dollar dung written films that wouldn't even make it on to the Z-movie list of yesteryear... well, now they're trying to get back old audience What a joke.
"this isn't review bombing, this is a protest"
Didn't know the ancient Rome did DEI.
Did you forget Djimon Honsou was in the first movie? I hate DEI as much as the next guy but still
@hulkfan97
Thats a bad cop-out. He as a black character was sensibly placed and respected the setting. Having blacks in high Rome is not respecting the historical time period. And it shows how dumb people are, that they are willing to overlook, literal “black nobility” in ancient Rome. Imagine a random white guy or Asian guy in an African Tribal council. Yeah…does not fit
Then you have yet to complete your WEF mandated re-education.
Roman slavery practices were very diverse, inclusive, and equitable.
Rome was a multicultural society. I'll give the script a chance regardless of the stupid choice in the music. They couldn't get Hans Zimmer for this apparently.
And the entertainment dark age marches on.
Next week, Hollywood: "What if we made a sequel to The Road to Perdition?"
"But everyone died in that film."
"Oh, I see what you're saying... So a sequel to Saving Private Ryan, then?"
"......... Sure."
I am going to avoid it like it's a Disney movie. It's obviously driven by DEI over historical accuracy.
Denzels teeth are too white for that time period.
And most of the cast is too white for _this_ time period.
Possibly not, really. No refined sugar or coffee.
It would be interesting to know how was the dental health in that period. Maybe it was more advanced, like many other things, to the Middle Age.
Well I don’t know about the movie but people back in Rome have perfect teeth due to the environment they was in, better read history!!!
I think there would be dulling with wine stain over a lifetime.
I take it Hollywood didn't think this through. 🎉

Master and Commander on the Far Side of the World: Left it kind of open at the end, so there was room for a sequel.
Gladiator: Movie is finished because the hero and villain double-killed.
Hollywood: Um, let's make a sequel based on the movie that has no room for a sequel.
That was a great film. Very underappreciated in my opinion.

There's plenty more books in the series, so why not. It can't be beaten though with current hollywood attitude, so there's no point.
Music in the trailer is fuking awful
I think about 97% of people, or more, love Denzel as an actor, but sticking him in a gladiator sequel just makes zero sense
I'm embarrassed for Denzel. A very good actor and a very smart person, who for some reason is so careless in choosing roles.
I bet he got paid a staggering amount of money.
It could be one of those "you owe us" movies for Denzel.

Yet still no actual ethnic Italic people that were present in the region. I have yet to see an ancient Roman/Italic film that actually has Italian actors not made in Italy.
As long as the people are majority Caucasian, I don’t think that matters. Ironically enough, Pedro Pascal is probably the closest as a Spaniard.
@@CatotheE But I find it weird that with all the diversity stuff, they have yet to get any actual Italians since they are an ethnic group. Just like no film based off of ancient Greece never has any actual Greeks.
@@Nilakanthanataraja Ancient Italians are not identical with modern Italians. Ancient Italians heavily mixed with migrants from the Near East and this is why Italy at the end of the Roman Empire essentially turned into Syria.
@@Centrum99Optional And you know there are multiple types of Italic people right? There were multiple Italic tribes that existed like the Umbrian folks that like you said looked more Semitic but are still Italic people and they still exist in Italy today. Just saying everyone wants diversity but don't get any people that don't even have a drop nor lick of Italian or Italic ethnicity within them. Just saying DEI needs to be consistent if that is the route they want to go in.
Terrible choice for denzel as julius who the fu thought this was smart?!?
I don't think the issue is that they're making a sequel (though at this rate why not just make an original movie), the problem is that they're making a sequel of a great movie at a time when trust in Hollywood is at it's lowest it's ever been.
Hollywood: this time they fight rhinos!
Nobody:
Gladiator did not need a sequel.

@@user-jl9eg3nb8jit's cringe inducing and I don't get why they can't do African/black history, Mali, Black Caesar (the pirate), Haiti revolution, first black Harvard graduate (fascinating story, way before DEI policies). It just shows me that Hollywood is painfully uncreative.

One amazing actor is not going to save a cheap Hollywood cash grab attempt at a movie. Especially if there's no art or creativity in it. 😐
Hollywood puts Rap Music in everything, even in historical fiction also. Like they are so out of touch.
To be fair, they did put We will rock you in a heath ledger movie trailer that took place in medieval times.
Forest Whitaker is a better choice. Denzel plays himself that’s about it.
The only good thing that I got out of my communist professor was when writing ask yourself the question. “Who gives a fuck!?””

Hollywood should have left this at one movie.
Why is this movie even a thing? The first one was wrapped up in a neat little bow and was its own self contained story.
The original Gladiator was a masterpiece and needed no sequel. At all. It told its own story, which concluded perfectly. Even 16 year old me knew back in 2000 that it didn’t need a sequel. And now, here we are, 24 years later, seeing a shameless cash grab being pumped out just so Ridley, Denzel and company can get a paycheck, I will be respectfully staying away from this come November, and will stick with the original.
