This amount of wisdom and control at 17 is nuts.
I also have 17 nuts.
Wait...
So wise, so talented and if he wins it will be the best achievement of any young player heading towards the title
If he wins perhaps he could tempt Magnoose to try again.
bro for a 17year old gukesh will intimidate you to death with his look
Guki has a clear insight of his strengths and weaknesses in the game. Soft spoken. Calm demeanor
Gukesh is a man of focus, commitment and sheer will🧡Bhagwan bless you more🙏🧡
The fact that even Vishy seems to be harder on this guy than he is on Pragg for some unknown reason must be a huge motivator for him. For example Vishy's comment that Gukesh is somehow more emotionally volatile (?) -- I couldn't imagine a more emotionally stable appearing person. He seems to be consistently underestimated by everyone including his own Vishy. Imagine seeing all these "candidates predictions" from everyone and their mom saying he was "likely to have a bad time." His soft spokenness hides a lot of steely determination. I hope he wins it all.
He is emotionally volatile though and Pragg does well in almost every tournament, whereas Guki does very well or very badly.
Vishy did not say emotionally... He said according to style of play... Guki generally used to have more decisive games which can go either way..... But this tournament he has changed quite a lot he has been more stable than some of the experienced guys as well... So props to him for stepping up for the big moment.... Though I was quite confused as to why many thought pragg was clearly better than guki... I feel they are more or less equal with one playing much better here
if this goes to tiebreaks I wouldn't bet on Gukesh unfortunately. He does not manage that well under time constraints. The other 3 will eat him alive I think
@@Rio_arc prag has been overhyped . Though he is a very strong candidate and I think not at his best here. But the discrimination here in india between both the players is huge ! Prag has received tonnes of financial and other support from the govt as well as corporates.
But finally now Gukesh is also coming into the limelight
@@Viva-la-de-hs4ub I'm from India... I know it... Not demeaning Pragg's achievement but ig "world Cup " name helped and his pic with his mother going viral (again very sweet and inspiring) helped with the hype and it became a trend to mention pragg which is why companies wanted him but ofc if guki pulls this off... There literally cannot be a better achievement and hopefully he gets the attention.... Also arjun who has quietly gained rating... I hope he does well in the next cycle as well
I didnt know much about Gukesh before Candidates, but right now I'm rooting for the man with whole my heart.
Gukesh is still in highschool
techinally higher secondary... but yeah...
17! Dude is 17!
Gukesh always performs so well at the big events! The incredible run at the Olympiad in 2022 and now here in the candidates. Hope he wins❤
The way he answered the last question 👏👏👏👏
I hope he wins the tournament
becoming world champion at 17 would be crazy. I think whoever wins candidates will beat Ding because he’s been playing bad lately. Gukesh could surely do it
Imagine if the winner goes against ding thinking it's gonna be cake and Ding just shows up in his final form full boss mode and absolutely destroys the challenger 😂
@@blackman7186 as what happened with Nepo last time, still I wish Gukesh wins this candidates and compete for the WCC
@@blackman7186 Ding has time to fix himself. This is also the only event he has to prepare for all year. (plus it's not ENTIRELY impossible that it's all a trick to just do the boss form thing for that easy $1.000.000 prize money)
People are really underestimating ding idk why maybe because they are new to chess. Ding in his best form can eat up all these candidates in classical.
@@anshumanbahukhandi3506goes both ways any of these candidates can destroy ding in their best form
It's an individual tournament all I care about is myself... You need that sometimes
😂😂 All the best to this lad.
Don't reveal too much Gukesh.... They are all.just antagonist....
true
For the future of chess Gukesh has to win this and nodirbek the next.
future 🐐
What the heck was that last question? Is that guy even sane? It's time for him to retire I believe. Kudos to Gukesh for answering the questions with so much maturity.
Would like to see if the person can ask similar question to Hikaru in the next round if things don't go well for Fabi.
What is his name ?
@@coolcrazydude007 exactly. there was no reason to bring race or nationality into this. As you say, would he ever ask Fabi what he has to say about Hikaru being American lol
3 players under the age of 20 in top 10 Fide rating. Abdusattorov (19), Erigaisi (20), Gukesh (17). 5 players in top 16, Praggnanandhaa (18), Firouzja (20).
It's so commendable that after such a long tiring critical game he came to the conference and analysed the game..
I love how he never mentioned that time scramble loss against Alireza stopped him from being in the sole lead
And uchrony deserves no place in history or Chess. Firouzja is a genius and a monster who deserves his wins especially in that game that was infuriatingly commented with xenophobic pro indian lines by Sagar which you evidently saw. So your comment is irritating and dumb. The same could be said of Nakamura if he had not lost his first game or Ian drawn too many games.
Kya tutul futul kr rha @@ericastier1646
@@ericastier1646 Alireza is overrated. His performance in this candidate and previous one proves it. And supporting and cheering for one's own country doesn't make anyone a xenophobe.
@@ericastier1646Here comes a psycopath. want some burnol?
That’s because tomorrow is his game against Alireza. Admitting that loss today will just give a psychological edge to the opponent and remind Gukesh himself of the loss. Not the right state of mind before a crucial round…so he was probably advised by his team to just shut that loss off and not even talk about it
He is too calm just like his idol MSD ❤
Gukesh is the third youngest player of candidates tournament history. The first two ? Bobby Fischer and Magnus Carlsen...
did Bobby and Magnus won their first Candidates and become WCC?
@@matthewglenguir7204 don't know about Bobby Fischer but magnus played only candidate and won it.
In final round point was equal between kremnik and magnus but magnus won tie break
Magnus was 22 when he reached candidates.
Second Youngest, Bobby Fischer was also 17 but a few months younger. Magnus was 22 when he played first played candidates
@matthewglenguir7204 Bobby lost his first one. Magnus won. Kasparov also was very close in age to Magnus when he won candidates. Gukesh is younger than these 2 by 5 years. If he wins that's spectacular but he is in great company regardless.
Who was the bastard who asked that last question, should be shut from these briefings?
The person had a sick mind who must have lived the life of a sadist and a jealous person, that's why he expects others to do the same. But the question itself didn't make any sense, as Gukesh is not responsible for anything apart from his own performance and is not the reason for what has happened to anyone else. It was always well known that finally only one would win.
Anyways Gukesh reply shut him up
Sounded like a drunk pommy.
Someone tell me his name
He was bloddy bastard bro.
Gukesh comes across as such a mature, calm, level-headed person. His quiet, soothing voice echoes his temperament and poise on the board.
Gukeshs super star Rajnikanth should be a very happy man having accompanied his kid all the way to toronto from chennai❤😊
For those who don't know gukesh's father name Is rajnikanth
@rahulgamer4574oh thanks
I really like seeing in the comments a little bit of the Indian culture. This is more rare comment to come from a western point of view. Finally, there is reflection on mainstream media more than just western values.
I am not saying one or the other is better. I just enjoy seeing people think and behave in different ways.
Greetings from Switzerland
@@mydimle yeah man thanks , authentically we're like this
@@rahulgamer4574 thanks Rahul
Seems he already decided would become World Champ when was in mother's womb ❤❤❤
He's so modest and humble!! Wow
Like some Indians do and pray (only Indians understand) - if he wins I will break 101 coconuts to hanumanji.. please 🙏
Wow❤
All those Coconuts will sponsor from Kerala..the land of kera (coconut tree)❤❤😂😂
That's great man
Rather help someone in need or feed some homeless people
@@jitulsarma1388 It will used to prepare prasad at temples and will distributed to everyone!!
Gukesh FTW
Fu@k the world ?
@@blackMamba-nc7eb yes I don't care
@@blackMamba-nc7ebnot sure about the world but seems like he fuxked your expectations fr
he'll win for sure , we are getting a new world champ from India !!
@@blackMamba-nc7eb For The Win. But sure, other one works as well I guess.
Gukesh is sigma 🗿🗿when he replied its an individual game n i care about is myself 🗿🗿🔥🔥🔥
not good for sportsmanship... you stay hours with those indian players yet u dont care about them
@@BriefOutreach I believe detachment must be there to achieve greatness.
@@BriefOutreach i mean what can he really do or say if other teammates lose ? its technically not his problem ..
4 players who are in contention are among the top 8 Fide rating. While the 3 pre tournament favourates (Caruana, Naka, Nepo) are nos 2, 3 & 4 above Ding who is currently no 6, Gukesh is no 8. So I guess these players are the justified contenders considering that Magnus opted out. I would also have loved to see Abdusattorov, Erigaisi, Wesley play who are also in Fide top 9 rating.
The last answer from Gukesh was fantastic. The only person I care about is myself might sound impolite but he’s spot on with the truth. Gukesh will go on to win world championships and reign as world #1.
Luck, of course, plays an important role but one cannot prepare for it! As Gukesh said, do your best and leave the rest to ...
Very solid and good classical player also at this stage it is just amazing.
I am here because i can't find post match interview after round 13
Gukesh op 🔥🔥🔥 Gukesh FTW
As an Indian, loved his short reply to the last, rather silly question.
That lady is trying to pressure him....
she pressures everyone lol
Brother he is so matured...
Wtf was that last question? Was he saying to Gukesh that you have no chance to win
Gukesh giving nothing away of the strategy that he employed in this game to outwit Abasov.
Young lion cub, given no chance at the start….trying to become a leader already
They should only ask questions about the game during the tournament.
It is really difficult for players to waste energy on these non chess related questions
He looks and sounds like he's 27, not 17.
14:17 He is an honest guy
14:00 These Journalists with cunning mouth,
agh, I'm sorry these players have to face all that,
it ruined my mood
What did he mean, that Gukesh will also not win?
Excuse me bro, ONE Indian is enough for beating all other leads.
Gigakeshhhhhhhhhhh!!!
King
Indian Bobby Fischer🤗
🔥
He has to win against alireza no matter what
Gukesh taks just like Vishy , but a little slower
gigachad fr
bro i ate my boogers at 17
1:15 Gukesh missing the pin, ...Qxg3+ game over
I didn't like that last reply from gukesh, Also the last question was a little bit confusing should be more clear, what he was actually referring to.
The question is a very bad one. To come up with a tactful answer may require some time and thinking for someone.
If he shows empathy, then it might feel he's coming from a place of privilege when he doesn't know and understand their pain. If he says he's got nothing to say, it'll come off as cocky and not bothered - which is the kind of impression you may have gotten hearing his reply.
The only good reply I can think of now is:
1. I'll communicate my message to them in person.
2. It doesn't matter when someone gets knocked out of the winning race. Its winner takes all, so I am in no position to comment as I may not be the first one as well.
The reply was fine considering the question. He basically meant that Gukesh wouldn't stand a chance and Indians have to wait for another 2 years.
He looks older than me I am 30 😂
Q: What do you think will be the decisive factor in winning Candidates?
A: Playing good chess.
Q: Are you tired after 12 rounds?
A: Nope, pretty consistent plays over here.
Q: Your opening seemed to be with interesting/novel idea, is it so?
A: I mean it's not the mainline.
Q: What if there are multiple interesting options to pursue in a given position? Which one do you choose?
A: Depends on my mood and feelings.
SAVAGE GUKI 🔥
GukeshFTW!
Last question was just so just so stupid
Goku D
14:32 nothing lol? Clearly they're not on the best of terms and seems like there's envy and jealousy among the rising young indians. Me likey. Only makes it more exciting, the upcoming chess years haha.
It was also evident in Erigaisi's recent interview (chessbase india) it was clear he wasnt exactly rooting for Gukesh
P.S. I myself am a Gukesh fan
I think he dodged a bullet by not emphasizing on the country angle. Despite all that country flag next to the candidate on the playing table, it is after all an individual tournament. If you take an alternate stance and say you're playing for the country and taking help from your fellow countrymen who're also in the candidates, you'll be going down that troubling position that Soviets occupied before, where they were accused of gamesmanship to ensure only their fellow countrymen won.
@@rtos you're right this may be partly the reason. this was also insinuated in an earlier interview. But I think chess speaks for itself, vidit and pragg losing if anything have made it more difficult for gukesh.
I don't think it means anything about hostility, he's just being honest that he doesn't give af about if other players are from India
@@whosaidiwantedahandle neither am i. There's envy and non companionship which is normal in human relationships. Just said it was exciting to see a spicy upcoming time for chess
I think it’s a decent answer .. I don’t know what else he could have said . He can’t say I feel sad or I hope they do better cause that would sound like he’s pitying them.. And what did Arjun say about gukesh ?
He is the 👑
