- Got the Garmin Forerunner 945 recently and wanted to do a first impressions video of it from the perspective of an average person who works out. I'm no techy or professional athlete. Just some guy who bought the watch.
This video is not sponsored by Garmin but I wouldn't mind that.

Great review! I've seen dozens of videos on the 945 and the Fenix 6, but none had a every day approach like yours. Thanks for sharing and helping on my decision! :)
This was the best review I found. Thank you.
Glad you found it helpful!
Very informative vid and like the "everyman" approach. Thanks.
Really well-formulated review. What matters with devices like this is not the technical specs imo. It doesn't matter how capable it is if it's a pain to use
There are enough reviews out there with specs and numbers
This is the review I needed. Thanks!
Great review, thanks. Considering buying for running, cycling and swimming purposes as the Apple Watch doesn't seem to give me enough detail. I see that you wore your raincoat to Koh Samui. One of my favourite places to run in Thailand - I live in Bangkok.
Fun that you noticed that detail! Yes I did and I just never took the sticker off :)
Thank you very much for the review! It helped a lot.
Great review! get some kind of handlebar mount for the watch, much more comfortable to use
That would defeat some of the biometric features, such as the heart monitoring, wouldn't it?
i'm an average guy with average fitness (i mean i can run 10k+, ride my bike for 100k, but not withing any good time limits) i'm using fenix 6x pro -basically 945 with better build and bigger screen; I love it.
Very helpful tool to get on track with your stats and then some. Screen is the best part of it
I have the same Airpods, H10 and 945. It's nice and all but I'm starting to miss just having an FR10. It was simple days back in 2015-2018 and I was running 120 miles a week without heart rate or training metrics. I used to listen to my legs and ask myself can I keep up this pace today for 16km whilst it feels easy. I never got injured, sometimes my legs would be dead but I'd just run slower. Since the 945 I've not had a single PB, mileage is lower and I'm slower. I think the Airpods make me tired the radiation can pass through brick walls and they're both sitting right next to my brain. I'm thinking of selling it all and going back to a 230 and running by feel. Then donate the money to animal sanctuary.
nicely done
Wooow man glad to came cross your chanel, appreciate the review man, would you recommend the lte version for someone who have a very samll wrist?
I think the standard size would work just fine for someone with a small wrist. The watch face isn't too big. Especially when compared to the Fenix. Also, the wrist strap on the 945 has holes all throughout so you can make the loop as tight as you'll ever want.
Thanks for sharing this.
Did you tried the remix6/6s as well before getting the decision about the 945?
I did not. I went straight for the 945 as it seemed to have everything I wanted and then some
@5:30 you said you changed the format of GPS coordinates....to match Google Maps...I would want to do that if I got the watch....how did you do this? Great video, thanks.
When you go into the settings in a given activity (say biking outdoor), there is a section where you can click navigation. In that submenu you then go to 'coordinates'. Then from there you just enter the coordinates of the location. There is a little fidgeting you'll have to do to make sure the formats match up with what you're finding on google maps. But that can all be done on. But lately I'm actually finding it easier to make a route on the Garmin Connect website and send it to my watch. When using the coordinates system from the watch and having the watch itself make the route, it doesn't always create one that makes sense. A little preparation before a route helps instead of relying solely on the watches ability to create a route. Hope this helps
@@mikeandhisbike9735 Very much helps, thank you.
Can you read the text of notification like a text message, what's app message on the watch when it's connected to the phone?
I have doubts about buying Fenix 6 pro (newer), Fenix 945 (lighter), or Apple watch (same ecosystem as my other tool).
I am a normal guy, not a professional athlete, and also I have AirPods pro and I was thinking about connecting it to Garmin, so your video was very helpful for me. Thank you!
Yes all notifications are readable on the watch when idle and during activity. I did have minimal experience with that however considering I turned off my notifications almost immediately. But the overall visibility of the watch has never been a problem.
I did not mention this in the video, but I did try out the first version of the Apple Watch with all my gear before buying the Garmin and hated how it all worked. Even though I have an iPhone and AirPods Pro. I highly prefer the Garmin Forerunner 945 to the Apple Watch I tried for a few workouts.
Informative but also fun, cheers! If you're into fun cycling videos, you might like some of my stuff too. Hope this doesn't seem like spamming!
can it reroute if i had a wrong turn?
I do not believe so. It will simply notify you that you're off course. In order to 're-route' you need to end the course and create a new one. Just for the record, rerouting after a wrong turn has never been a problem. The notification that I'm off course has been helpful enough for me to simply get back on course.
