    RM looks up at his persona

    Jhope looks straight at his reflection/ego.

    People have criticized Hoseok for having such a positive attitude, calling him fake and that he’s just putting on a show. But I find it refreshing and admirable that he knows where to draw the line in what he feels he needs to show to the camera.

      I think he's genuinely quirky (silly noises) and bright as the members also say that his real personality and his persona are much closer now. You can see even in run bts episiodes, jhope gets stuff Done. He's on the case and works hard with the right amount of messing about. 2nd leader :)

      I used to not t like J Hope due to how over the top he was, it felt disingenuous but now I’ve realized he makes a conscious choice to be bright and that he’s is probably the most professional member. I now see him has. The one who was meant for this life, because he’s so aware of his presence as a performer and so in tune with his artistry.

  • @SnapCracklyPop
    @SnapCracklyPop Před 4 lety +417

    J-Hope being sunshine is still him. Even though he and everyone has a persona, it doesn’t mean he isn’t himself or that isn’t a part of himself.. I don’t want people thinking he’s disingenuous just because he doesn’t show other sides of himself all the time. He and Jin are similar in that sense of love cheering people up and making people happy. Jin has said he doesn’t like showing a side of him that make people feel sad, which in turn makes him feel sad. Making people happy/smile makes him feel happy. Anyway, when J-Hope is in dance leader mode, he’s serious business :)

      Didn't he admit that he made a conscious decision to be this bright happy person, full of hope, because he was so unsure and a little dark in the early days of training? I don't think he's faking or it's a show. But I think he has depths that only the members get to see, which is why they respect and listen to him and maybe even fear him a little. It's like how we get to see flirty cuddly Jimin but the members have indicated that he can be scary and we've even seen a little of that in vids of their early days. These are complicated people the way we all are but I think J-hope decided not to share that with us, which I can understand. Because, in my opinion, he's been thinking of the long game of not just being in BTS but having a solo independent career and fanbase. Of all of them, he's the one who's going to be out there as a performer for life and he's protecting that future. But we'll have to wait and see.

      All of this really comes down to what he talked about on hopeworld. In regards to his identity, Piece of Peace really sums it up. While he wasn't very happy in the past, and while he still has his moments of not being happy, the knowledge that he is bringing happiness into other people's lives is the reason why he can maintain his own happiness. He's said before that being positive has helped him see more of the good sides of life and genuinely made himself more happy.

    You know I’m a Hobi stan and you are honestly 100% correct when you said he’s very mysterious (I’ve just never realized it until now).
    All the members have said he used to be pretty sad before debut and he himself has said that he notices how his Hobi persona bleeds into who Hoseok is. But he’s also said he wants a distinction between Hobi and Hoseok. But he very rarely shows us that part of himself.
    The closest I feel we’ve ever gotten to seeing a part of Hobi outside of what he wants to show us (him being a symbol of hope and writing lyrics that talks about his aspirations, what he’s thankful for and being a beacon of hope to others) is in the track “blue side”
    He literally says nothing beside “blue side” and it’s his shortest solo track but I feel like that’s as much as we’ve seen of him when he’s not happy, when he’s not hopeful, when he’s not J-hope. And we can see that even in live-streams he’ll refrain from answering questions that are too deep or anything he just doesn’t want us to know.
    I wonder if he doesn’t think we’re interested to know that part of him, if he thinks we won’t like that part of him, or simply just wants to keep a part of him to himself and his friends/family

However, i can see why you believe J-Hope is mysterious. Great video, i love Rhonda's reaction!!!

      @HadassaMoon144 Před 4 lety +28

      Have always thought this too about Jin. Noticed it about Jhope a long time ago. He was actually my bias....why I got into BTS at all.. I saw him on American Hustle Life and he was so hardworking and charismatic. He had such leader energy and confidence so I was attracted to him. But as I got to following BTS and seeing them on shows, it became mor clear that he was going for the sunshine and sweetness jokester persona which I don't really like. I much prefer serious and focused Jhope. I still love him but now my bias is Suga. Suga is easy for me to read. He's expressive and similar to how I am as a person. I can also see why he and Jhope would work well together and be close. I honestly think that Jungkook is pretty mysterious too. He should be easy to read but he's not. How can you describe his personality? Fans seems t be conflicted. Some say he started too young and is possessive of his bandmates and immature. Some say he developed well. Of all of them, I worry about him the most. Best wishes!

      I never saw interview when Jin said his persona was 'fake'. It just that he 'build' his persona. The member said that the current Jin is different than early Jin they know because he was a lot goofy now, while he was cold and charismatic before.

      I'm good at hiding my feelings, and my "fake" side is a natural thing that just comes out of it. Persona is just active.

    • @balqissolahodin3538
      @balqissolahodin3538 Před 3 lety +7

      This is a bit late to reply but i just wanted to give my thought. I don't think jin's personality now is fake it's just that ppl can have different persona inside themselves. In his case i think he might have the quiet introvert persona but also have the more cheerful persona too it's just that he shows army the cheerful side more than his introvert side. But now he seems to be more open up a little with his struggle and share it with us. Actually a lot introvert that i have met except for myself are like that, they know when to have limit about what to share with ppl by having bounderies. Most of the time It's not that we tried to bottled up our feeling it's just tht we don't want to share it and keep it to ourselves and ppl that are really close only because sometime there part of ourselves that was meant to be just for us.

  • @anna-thealittek9662
    @anna-thealittek9662 Před 4 lety +87

    Actually I'd say that we know a lot about J-Hope.
    He's from a loving family (his mother worked 3 jobs to help support him on his dream to become a dancer, and he's very close to his sister). His sister is very pretty, looks astonishingly like him, and is a rather successful fashion designer. He has a puppy called Mickey that he loves a lot. He has dealt with depression since before debut days, but he has found that the persona J-hope has helped him with this because it taught him how to focus on the positives in life. He gets great strength from the other members, and acts very affectionately towards them. Behind the scenes, he takes care of them and helps support them to the level where RM calls him the second leader of BTS.
    He Adores. Dance. He says that he feels music in his body, which is why he loves to dance so much, and he expresses his emotions through dance quite often as well. Whether it's as a joke or out of excitement, J-hope leaps at a chance to move.
    He is a little insecure about how he looks from people calling him ugly in the past, but like the other members has grown to embrace himself and his appearance. He takes great comfort in the fans, seeing them as a part of why he has been able to become J-hope. His old tagline of 'I'm your hope, I'm your angel, J-Hope' became 'I'm your hope, you're my hope, I'm J-hope' due to the support he got during their many tours.
    He doesn't like making mistakes, which is one of the reasons why he focuses so hard on his dance.
    He's very willing to take risks and try new things, even if it scares him. That's how he got into rap, he jumped into rap battles without any experience just to give it a go. Same goes for his music production.
    Despite this, he is easily startled and scared, which always makes for some hilarious reactions in nearly any tense/scary scenario. A good example of this is the flinch game on James Corden, or the time he had to pose with a snake for some photos. Despite both of these things, he still gave it his best shot and committed to it.
    He's known for having many hidden talents, leading to the members giving him the nickname of Golden Hyung, similar to JK's Golden Maknae. He doesn't really show off many of them, but every now and then he'll do something cool. The members say that he doesn't like making a big deal of it.
    He's proud of his hometown of Gwangju, and has referenced the uprising that happened there quite a few times, as well as embraced his Jeolla dialect. He is still proud of his time in Neuron, his street dance team from pre-BTS days, again, referencing them often.
    He loves fashion, especially bright and unique items. This usually makes him easy to pick out when he's in his casual wear. He also adores interesting bags and shoes for similar reasons.
    He's more private than some of the members, but by no means does he keep anything to himself.

    I'm really glad that Yoongi talks about the topics he did in Shadow. In fact I'm proud of all of BTS for breaking those standards of being perfect idols and just being real with their fans on how they feel being at the top.
    It must be such a great form of relief. Because they do this, they stay humble. They know their own flaws. That's such an amazing thing that you don't see very often.

  • @allons_y1001
    @allons_y1001 Před 4 lety +25

    I think I've only seen one or two other reactors understand/acknowledge how devastating Shadow's lyrics are... everyone else is just like, "man, that beat slaps!" or "that switch up though!" or think it's somehow just a flex song. :-( I cried after reading the lyrics the first time and a few times since... and my initial reaction was "can someone please check on Yoongi and give that man a long hug?!" LOL Maybe it just hits me harder since I am someone who has lived with the 'shadow' of depression/anxiety for 30 years and can relate to it on a certain level. Obviously not the fame/success part, but the knowledge that my brain chemistry will never let me feel completely happy and learning to accept it as a part of me.

    Your analysis of J-Hope is SO spot on! I agree with you that he’s the most mysterious member, in that he’s the very private and holds the strongest boundaries. I think the horse thing was just a joke that the members said in a teasing way. If you have siblings then you’ve probably had those moments were you tease each other, maybe something they said or did or how they looked that day reminded you of something else like an animal or an object or whatever it is, but it was trolls that took things out of hand and so the guys stopped doing it and also told “fans” who kept doing it and trolls to stop. Tae even addressed it on Weverse and made his displeasure very clear when some people posted “unappealing” photos on Weverse of the members. It’s also another reason they stopped rating members. Not so recently when Jungkook was asked to do it, he only put Jimin first, and left it at that

    One of the biggest appeals for me is the fact that you never know whats coming next! They have the most diverse and entertaining back catalogue as well as solo mix tapes and collaborations. In 7 years they have put out more meaningful content than almost anyone else ,even those who have been around significantly longer. Wow that was so interesting to watch. Couldn’t really see the lyrics to keep up so I will now watch the videos again for the umpteenth time! jHope definitely understands the difference between his persona and self but accepts them as him. His upbeat character is him. His quiet side is also him. He actively entertains ARMY. He talks to the others a lot about pacing themselves and being professional...and he watches out for the others though often lets the younger guys do the hugs and comforting... but you can see he watches and notices how everyone is feeling. Though he says he feels the pressure of always staying ‘upbeat’ cos that’s now expected of him, in his lives this year I think he has let his guard down more. He’s been on screen dancing without talking, just being quiet and introspective. In his birthday live he talked about wanting to have someone to cherish..and about how he’s sensitive about love. This man Jung Hoseok has hidden depths. 💜

    I am happy that she got it on Shadow. And I realized that whoever designated each song to each member is genius! RM open the cycle with a question, Persona, like he questioning all things around him. Then Suga following up with Shadow, like a topic he digs and know better. Then Ego with Jhope....a conclusion which open a gesture of 'hope'. Even the opening was Jhope emerge from 'shadow'. Its amazing. Really2 genius.

    ms. rhonda is so beautiful. i'd love to see her more. 💜 intro persona's concept is more of wanting to understand who he is... is the persona taking over who he really is. interlude shadow is more of trying to run away from his "monsters" in the form of fame, media, even fans (mainly toxic ones) and in interlude shadow, the shadow tries to tell him that he's part of the SELF. and then ego is where it comes together... all parts of the SELF and being confident about it (including the persona and shadow). that's why outro is the... outro. these 3 songs are all connected. 💜 and each member expresses the 3 parts of self very concisely.

    Clearest boundaries: Suga. Hands down! Thinking about it, Jin is my bias but I agree we know the least about his parent and personal life but I don't have a problem with them having a private life. I enjoy his singing, performances, his personality (funny and very generous/kind) and his relationship with the other members. Just because he's not so open with the juicy details, he still gives a lot for the Army.

    That was interesting. This was my 1st listen to these 3 songs. I plan to listen to them om my own. I am not a fan of rap but i liked J-Hope's vibe. I am a former Peer Advocate and I work with my therapist weekly. I deal with anxiety and depression. I am a cancer survivor. I am trying to get her to listen to BTS and tell me what she thinks, lol. Suga talks about social anxiety and depression in his solo's which i think is cool. You know i never hot the impression that J-Hope was mysterious. He loves his family and is real close to them. He loves the band members. He wants to give us hope and give us positive energy that's a really hard thing to choose to be. He is a great dancer & rapper and singer. He is a light in the group that makes me feel good and warm. He is who he is to me. =0] P.S. My bias is Jimin!

    I'll re-edit my msg after this. Thank u for keeping up the efforts to introduce bts music to all types of ppl around u especially feedback from ppl from other professionals which I'm intrigue to get to know more. So, as from me all these 3 song spoke to me n I feel different vibe from all these 3 from mot albums. For persona, literally it's my most favourite song from namjoon besides his mixtape mono. Talk who the hell am I, confusion with perception surrounding influence n judging, reaffirm who rm is with all the avatar namjoon references mini namjoon along with all the robotic faceless ppl around. Society norm seeking ppl to either blend in or the choices n fear of stand out. All choices lead to different outcome n responsibility. Take it n responsible to own choice with faith n improvement accordingly without back out ur original decision n intention. Its tough thou. For interlude shadow, honestly it's so me. I deeply love this song when it came out either from how the lyric, melody or artiscally how the mv shot, it hit me so much. Shadow is part of who we r but how we aware the presence of it n how to minimise the influence it got on our mindset its very crucial. Shadow doesn't necessarily bad thing but we need to watch out the presence of unpleasant, negative worry n doubt then make good use of it to face challenges in right attitude. From shadow it somehow connect to me to the vibe of agust d 's daechwita vibe, I'm getting the vibe he's killing his old self but from i felt connecting to shadow he is killing his negative influence powering shadow, or the appropriate term would be break free of shadow consuming influences just like the last scene of bts's black swan art film. From the strunggle to disconnect from the shadow, turning into aware, manipulate shadow to move like him, to the level embracing good deeds of shadow, break free from negativity for good. That's how i felt from the mv n song itself complement to one another. Last but not least ego, j hope ll always be our sunshine j hope presenting the subject of ego in fun n festive moods in more cherish persentation. Listening only to the song, u couldn't imagine his lyric is so deep talking abt self finding subject, he shows the bright side of how things going to be. Just like his smile n bright persona, he project the issue of ego in light, festive beat with firm attitude behind heavy pressure of ego topic 👌💜👏👏if just like what ur friend's sharing that j hope is comfortable with boundaries n set to protect his personal side. I m glad n respect his decision as long as he is happy. What I worry is ll he got the perception that if he speak out n show out who he is, he become vulnerable n the possibility of having the fear of losing ppl 's love n care for him if ever he's not that sunshine bright j hope anymore. If he is happy for who he is, I'm happy for him n all army want is his happiness n not surpressing himself for the sake of bts best interest. Not everyone can be 24/7 positive n bright. Im ok if ever a mistake coming from j hope n im totally fine with it. The pressure to be excellent n improvement is good not to the level of pressuring him to be the suffocating perfectionist. I trust bts ll be all right with each other support n companion waking down this journey togather 💜 he doesn't like to relate to horse things but he choose horse like figure character of bt21 mang to embrace positive persona of horse itself not by how horse look

    I think the same thing. Hope is definitely the most mysterious. He has layers. He's like an open book but some of the pages are stuck together. Although this goes for every member, we can never truly know what goes in the mind of J-Hope. He seems to balance his personal and professional roles very well and is the epitome of Ego, the union of the Shadow and Persona.

Especially RM’s song though is full of references throughout BTS’ career so its double the references.

    If you ever have Ms Rhonda back for another reaction (especially since you said you want to show her more of suga/agust d), maybe you could bring up:
    - yoongi said he's studying psychology because he wants to be able to help other people/fans who went through some similar things to him, and this attitude colours a lot of bts songs that bring comfort to the fans (this is probably influenced by rm as well I think)
    - j-hope always starts his introduction by saying "I'm your hope, I'm j-hope" as a way to explain his public persona
    I hope you'll show her The Last at some point too 💜
