- The Gravity Group are a designer and fabricator of wooden roller coasters, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. The company has become one of the world’s largest manufacturers of wooden roller coasters, providing a unique range of designs and styles to its customers. Today, the Gravity Group is known both for their small scale compact rides, such as Twister at Grona Lund; as well as their larger, thrilling wooden coasters, which can feature inversions, like Hades 360 at Mt. Olympus.

Fun fact: if you look at who worked with whom, you can trace a direct line of descent from John Miller (inventor of the upstop wheel and first of the "great" coaster designers) all the way to Gravity Group. GG was founded by former designers for CCI, which was founded by former designers for Dinn Corp., which built coasters designed by Curtis D. Summers, who worked for John Allen, who co-designed with Herb Schmeck, who worked with John Miller. So they are part of a continuity of coaster design and innovation that stretches back over 100 years. Their coasters actually make me think of what John Miller might be designing if he were still around today.
IMO, there are three branches that almost all manufacturers derive from. They are the John Miller line (GCI, Gravity Group), the Anton Schwarzkopf line (Intamin, B&M), and the Walt Disney line (Arrow, S&S).
Awesome Video Harry! Glad to have been able to provide some footage for it!
Thanks Jason, I appreciate you allowing me to use some of your footage :)
I'd love to see a video where you do a detailed comparison of the timberliners and the millennium flyers. Not necessarily saying which one is better, but pointing out any key differences.
Up until your comment, I thought they were the same. I actually thought the trains on most their coasters were millennium flyers.
It'd be really interesting to compare coaster trains generally actually, from all different types of manufacturers :)
@@coasterbot Yeah, like the Arrow looper trains vs the Vekoma trains that replaced some of them
Some of their coasters look really cool.
For sure!
yea. the Cu Chulainn at Tayto Park is great!
My favorite manufacturer 🔥
Awesome!
Love the video, great job mate, never actually knew Hades was a Hybrid🤔
Thank you that means a lot. Honestly, there's quite a lot of wooden coaster hybrids out there that have wood track and steel supports. GCI have done a few too :)
@@coasterbot It's always hard because they make them look like normal wooden supports! And they paint them too hahaha.
The anti RMC
This company is way ahead of the others when it comes to Coaster designs! I'm just happy to see this, because a lot of people could care less! These Coaster designs are incredible!
For sure!
Next do ‘Breathing: explained’
I don't know how to do that
@@coasterbot how do you not know how to breath??
Great video! Would love to ride some of these coasters someday, even the likes of Kentucky Flyer still look fun as hell despite how small they are 😂🔥
Thanks man! And definitely, they're quality coasters :)
I can’t wait for leviathan at SeaWorld Australia to be built. This gravity group coaster will be my first wooden coaster!!
It looks awesome!
Another Fantastic Video! So much great info and very well put together! I sure would like to see even more parks working with the Gravity Group
Thank you man, that always means a lot. I'd love to see more parks work with the Gravity Group too. Also, you put out a fantastic video yesterday. I couldn't get over the edit of Flight of Fear's launch you did, it was really cool!
@@coasterbot No Problem! Thanks so much for watching and the nice comment I really appreciate it.
Great job, I love these Manafacturing and roller coaster explained videos, keep up the good work 👍
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy them! :)
It's a shame there's only so few of these roller coasters in Europe. All of these look great and I think the smaller ones would fit in very well at a lot of themeparks.
P.S. Great video as always Harry!
I couldn't agree more! Hopefully Europe sees some larger scale Gravity Group coasters soon. Thanks man :)
Cu chulainn is the Most underrated Wooden Coaster in Europe.
I agree.
I agree
I agree although I hate the way he pronounced it wrong
Love your video’s man. Keep on the good work💪💪
Thank you, that means a lot :)
I've ridden Sea World Australia's Leviathan multiple times now, and it is a beauty of a coaster! It instantly became my favourite coaster on the Gold Coast, even beating out the DC Rivals Hypercoaster.
Awesome video, thanks for the info!
Brilliant video Harry! Thanks for sharing! ☺️
No problem, thanks for watching :)
Yayy I was waiting for this video
Enjoyed this, great job Harry. I’ve met Korey & Chad from the Gravity Group, great guys and very informative when asked about their rides.
Thanks guys, that's awesome! :)
Gravity Group is an amazing Wooden Coaster manufacturer!
For sure!
1:10 very unfortunate name right there 😬
Chad Miller?
These guys are just masters at building winding, really complex wooden coasters that just are so very interestingly designed!
Totally!
The fact that Gravity Group's EVERY SINGLE COASTER have airtime goes to show that Gravity Group can also make small coaster packing in force.
Cool to see my small home park (waldameer) included.
Great video!
Thanks :)
I was wondering why I loved twister so mutch, Gravity Group is awsome and thanks yet again Harry! 😼🎢
Twister is great, I agree the Gravity Group is awesome! No worries, thanks for watching :)
@@coasterbot Just asking will ther probably be a What is Monster at Gröna lund video when it has opened and you have riden it?
Maybe! Sadly though I don't expect to get the chance to ride it anytime soon
These videos are gr8 m8
I want to work for these guys when I graduate.
Hades 360 is my current fav woodie. This year will bring The Voyage as well
Hades looks awesome :)
These really do look like my fav maker of woodies, and the way their shorter trains zip around the track is so pleading to the eye! To think what Wicker Man could be if it were a Gravity Group job!
Yeah that's a good point actually. I feel like Gravity Group could have done a better job with the plot of land Wicker Man has. But, they obviously chose GCI for a reason?
Yay!
Great video
Thanks! :)
I always enjoy CCI and Gravity Group coasters! ☺️
That's awesome :)
Great job on the video. I hope I get to ride a Gravity Group coaster in the near future.
Thanks! They're fun rides for sure :)
Such good information.
Thanks :)
Great video! I didn't realize the company formed a few years before Hades and had some projects before that.
Thanks! And thanks for the footage man :)
@@coasterbot No problem!
Those Timberliner trains are a game changer. PTC trains are charming and all, but Timberliners are like riding in a Cadillac.
I knew this was coming because I saw you asking MiyaPA Masane for footage on the Jungle Trailblazers. ;)
Good spot!
hello guys and welcome back to a veedio with me. mista colla roasta
Please do schwarzkopf explained, havent seen a documentary on these seemingly influential coasters anywhere on the net
I'll note that down, thanks for the great suggestion :)
Schwarzkopf is an absolutely elite company. Their rides remain insanely intense and smooth to this day.
Can you do S & S Explained next?
HEY THOROE PARK ARE YOU WATCHING THIS !!! just saying 😏.
Great video Harry . They have quite a portfolio there .
Been on Mine blower , amazing coaster but should be called
Spine Blower 🥴😁🧱👍🏽
Thanks! Were you not a fan of mine blower then? :)
@@coasterbot . I loved it ! Chris my wife and Al and Sarah weren’t as keen 😆🧱👍🏽
I love these ‘explained’ videos but it makes me so sad to think how long I have to wait to get out there and experience some amazing coasters again.
Thanks, and I know what you mean ha ha :)
Looks like the company has become the new king of woodies.
Great company!! Does anyone know why they didn't go with the timberliner trains for Voyage after all?
I've heard it's because you feel more imperfections with the track on Timberliners. Rides built for timberliners, and have only run with timberliners, will remain smoother. :)
The best coaster Custom Coaster Intl ever produced is Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce... the best gravity Group coaster... seems to go to The Voyage...
Leviathan is build by vleminkx which still does the overseas productions
It seems like any coasters outside of the American and European markets are built by Martin & Vleminckx rides.
Always wondered why Cedar Fair never used them at Kings Island considering where they are located.
That's an interesting point!
Probably because they had a history with GCI. They built Renegade in 2007, Prowler in 2009 and Gold Striker in 2013.
It's a shame we don't have a Gravity Group roller coaster in the Netherlands! i would love to ride!
We need wayyy more GG coasters here in Europe. On top of having sick layouts, they are so pleasing to the eye
For sure!
stop reminding me that I missed the fireball credit
1:11 I know I’m not the only one to think “wait what?..” when I heard that..😂😂
3:45 sounds like something I would build 😂😂
For some reason when I first saw the video title I thought it was going to be about GCI.. as a GCI fanboy I am mildly disappointed, but ofc I enjoyed the video either way :p
To be fair gravity group was founded by people who were at cci, which could explain their rides cci look.
Gravity Group is such a good manufacturer.
Definitely!
If I watch this video, gravity group looks way better than GCI
im from ireland, we have a park called "tayto park" COME OVER HERE AND RIDE THE CU CHULAINN WOODIE BY GRAVITY GROUP ITS SO GOOOD
It looks awesome!
i still don't understand why GravityKraft is a different company
I'm not sure of the reasoning behind it, but there will probably be some economic advantage to it :)
Hi! could you explain how the LIM water slide coasters work? (or Hydromagnetic) made by Proslide? it's very intriguin to me
I'll note that down, thanks for the suggestion :)
@@coasterbot thanks!
Wooden coasters are slower than steel ones, but they still provide a ton of thrills because the trains tend to shake and bounce during the ride
I have a suggestion. May you please do Arrow dynamics explained? It's revolutionary
I'll note that down, thanks :)
@@coasterbot cool
video idea: what is F.L.Y at phantasialand
btw good vid
We hope to make a video about FLY once we ride it! :)
nice
Will there ever be a Von Roll: Explained? You know, the company that makes skyrides and other transportation attractions?
I'll note that down, thanks for the suggestion :)
Glad to be of service!
PAW-SOME Video Awoooooo 😍😍👍
- SingleRail Industries ( Currently In Hospital )
Thanks! I hope you get better soon :)
Bruh where's Zippin Pippin?
Lol, ikr at least he put hades in there
Next could you do S&S?
We hope to in the future :)
@@coasterbot Woop! Thank you.
Waldameer is my home park! I was interviewed by our local news station when the Ravine Flyer II's trains were first installed, and I rode it opening day in the rain! It's still an absolutely fantastic coaster!
That's awesome!
Do you know why hades is rough as hell
Because the park doesn’t care about it.
Still waiting for a tower of terror explained lol
the hell is a roolacoosta
And now they have their precut track which is a big deal
We all know Oscars Wacky Taxi is the best gravity group but I think Voyage is pretty good too.
Will Harry respond?
😎
Loved the video but that’s not how you say cú chulainn mate😂😂😂
Gravity group > GCI
Silv?
Silvarret?
@@coasterbot lol you got it. Your commentary reminded me of him haha
Tbh I'm a bit of a gravity group fanboy and a GCI hater
You can like both, right? ;)
@@coasterbot I'm exaggerating when I say I'm a GCI hater but all the gravity groups I have been on are better than all the GCIs I have been on
GCI or Gravity Group?
*I pErsONaLlY pRefEr dInN*
You funny
One disagreement. Timberliners SUCK if you're a bigger guy. Those lapbars won't even close without stapling me and I'm sub 300 lbs. not a huge dude.
The Gravity Group > GCI.
Mine Blower is the only Gravity Group coaster I’ve ridden. Terrible intro to this manufacturer, square wheels on already bumpy track isn’t very good
that's probably due to Fun Spot's maintance
I feel like GG coasters have a bit of a stereotype for being small family rides.
