  • Over the course of Vekoma's 91 year existence, they have installed over 300 roller coasters worldwide. The company is widely recognised as one of the world's major amusement ride manufacturers. In this video we explain how Vekoma came to be the organisation they are today, as well as some of their most notable attractions.

      Their custom coasters for Disney are really not bad. I always assumed the Arrow heritage of their designs was one of the reasons Disney chose them, since Arrow had been their go-to coaster manufacturer previously--and of course Arrow had a similar reputation for roughness and for cranking out cookie-cutter rides.
      (But for the family coaster under construction at Hollywood Studios, Disney went with Mack--a major departure.)

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber Před 4 lety

      Some of that hate is undeserved, too. Sure, SLCs are pretty bad (apart from Fly the Great Nor'Easter which has been reworked to the point where it can be considered a "custom" SLC), Boomerangs are everywhere and are inconsistent across all installations (Flying Cobras and Speed of Sound are great but most of them are either mediocre or downright suck) and the standard layout Suspended Family Coaster earned its nickname "hang-n-bang" (custom SFCs like Freedom Flyer at Fun Spot Orlando seem to avoid this), but Invertigos were actually well received, their mine trains are amazing and two of the three Flying Dutchmen built were actually really good rides.

    • @beardedswordsman2901
      @beardedswordsman2901 Před 4 lety

      The hate is from vekoma stealing arrows designs for their own coasters that arrow never got compensated or credited. I still hate them I don't care if they have their own designs now it's still scummy what they did to arrow.

      Why are vekoma's slc's so rough?

    • @B4T4LI4
      @B4T4LI4 Před 5 lety +2

      @@thomaslawrence1726 I would say it's mostly because of the track design. While sturdy, it's not really known for a flexible track design. autoCAD wasn't a thing back then either, which made making smooth transitions really difficult since all track pieces were made piece by piece. Pretty comparable to the well known RCT series (minus using the PC of course)
      So yeah, that results in a rough ride which is kinda part of their charm imo.

I can thank Vekoma for instilling the rollercoaster enthusiast in me. To this day I still visit the Boomerang I rode on and the SLC. they are still in operation in Wildwood NJ. And if I'm not mistaken. The Sea Serpent in Wildwood was the first boomerang coaster in North America and also The Nor Easter was one of the first SLC's to be build in North America.
