Today on the channel we give the Haggard Mercedes a Seafoam treatment. I put way more than the recommended amount in and the results were incredible. I put it in the fuel tank and the oil. What I was after was to actually see a direct and noticeable difference. What do you guys think, do you use this stuff?
Follow me on instagram @topcorey - Auta a dopravní prostředky
lol guys I swear that half can in the beginning I found in the garage! Not mine, should have said that 😂
Its a petroleum based product and can supposedly fill your tank up with it dude from seafoam says the more the better ... 10 gallon of seafoam video coming up???
I think it would be better if you would have check the mpg, decibels and acceleration times vs by ear and feel.
I put Seafoam in my lawnmower. Prior to adding Seafoam it used to take me 40 minutes to mow my lawn, and now since iv'e been using Seafoam it takes me about 28 minutes to mow my lawn. My wife has started putting Seafoam in my coffee, she's pleased that i'm now able to last for 7 minutes instead of 5!!!
Made a huge difference this last summer in my Mack truck. Put in a gallon in about 60 gallons, and by the end of the day it was a totally different truck. Smoother and more power brought it back to where it had been before. Got to filling each new fuel filter with it, run it for a couple minutes and let it sit overnight. Huge difference.
what motor mp8? still running good? dpf?
Just prefilled our secondary fuel filter with seafoam on our bus conversions 12 valve Cummins, and Wow! Huge increase in acceleration performance. I have to use the brakes more because it dosen't slow down as fast when I let off the throttle.
I have used Seafoam in all my engines from chainsaws to my 6.7 diesel for years and it has preserved, I feel, every motor. My snow blower is now 30 years old and starts first pull. My 2010 F-150 5.4L 3 valve, which has had historically a plethora of issues now has 255,000 miles with no issues. So a big thumbsup on the product!
Those Modular V8s are weird like that. I have seen them run like the best V8s ever made and then some have issues beyond belief.
Did you put it in the engine oil or fuel tank?
Novel idea having the vertical stack coming out of the hood. My brother put twin vertical pipes on our lawn mower once.
One thing I've learnt in owning a diesel is that they need additives to keep them in top condition.
I had 4 injectors failing on a truck I had for a week and I poured a gallon to the truck , finally got it running, ran it hot for till it was empty and now I havent had any I injector failure so far for a month.
"never used before" i have a half can of the stuff lol
My exact thoughts when he said that lmao
he put half a can in with the engine oil
Lol haha never used if before 1/2 can!
Leave 👍 watch another 3sec
See my impatience !!!
Thats what I thought 😤
Poor video merging/editing skills made you think he already used a half bottle somewhere. If he showed the half bottle going into the crankcase first, it would've made sense.
Love those old 80s Mercedes diesels. You can't kill those things! But what a difference. Going to try it in my boat diesel now.
Awesome Video!!!!! Glad to see you're having fun with the Benz!!! :)
Change your oil,ASAP then adjust your valves and turn your injector pump up ,then you will see a diff.
how do you turn the injector pump up?
glad to see it didn't hurt the engine
Good video. However, would be nice to see how the car behaves once the Seafoam is out of system and you have regular fuel. Most of not all fuel additives would have made an improvement whilst in the system?
Dude tracktor flap , BMW rims that's a sweet ride bro thanks for sharing
The diference this made to my 12 valve cummins is MIND BLOWING. I filled the fuel filter with it when changing it and its crazy the diference
I’ve used sea foam in my VW ALH 4cyl 1.9L diesel. Huge difference! In engine oil a couple hundred miles before an oil change cleaned it right up! I tend to run Power Service diesel additive on every fill up, but remember Seafoam will pick up moisture in the fuel and work nicely as an anti-gel/ anti-freeze agent. I tend to add it as the temps get closer to freezing. Injections stay clean, and I say more horsepower.
Tiny Solar Shack what did it clean up? How could you tell ?
If it worked at all it would make your oil dirtier as it dumps all those built up carbon deposits into the sump.
You're saying it made it cleaner?
Stuff works really well . treat all your mower gas with it also. Treat your gas cans then youll use it everything . fights terrible gas .
“I’ve never used Seafoam on anything ever”
“I’m gonna use this half can first”
Lol 😂
Lol the Half can was in the car when I bought it. So maybe there’s already a half can in there 🤷♂️
Your attitudes for my day that Mercedes is so SICK
I use seafoam in my deere,83 F3504X4 w/ 460 my 2017 Taurus but I have not used it in my 19 F3504X4.
It's great in the cars and the deere!
After driving about 30 miles you should change the oil. You just cleaned the crank case of sludge and cooked on caked on carbon.
Jeff Stone I think that’s only if you ad it to your oil or through the brake booster vacuum line, if you put it in your fuel and your piston rings don’t seating to the cylinder wall properly then it will dilute the engine oil. If you have a good running engine it will be fine.
TiresBiggerThanTexas if it’s added to the crank case oil I would change the oil soon after driving. If you add it to the fuel or through a vacuum line it’s being burned and exiting the exhaust except for blow-by. The reason I would change the oil in just a few miles is because if this starts cleaning the sludge out of the galleys it’s going to end up in the oil pan. You run the risk of plugging up the pick up on the oil pump with the shit that was caked on the inside of the engine. You could repeat this process. Another way to clean the crank case is drain the Oil and fill the engine with kerosene. Let it soak. Drain The new oil and filter. This is an old timer process used on old tractors. Not something I would bother to do. But since were talking about a car that was basically junk it could be fun to experiment.
@@sterlingyoung88 ,, he did put a pint into the engine oil.
nope , its actually between 100-300 miles as it says on the tin
Iv used it for years. Gotta try the seafom intake fogger. Especially on anything that's port injection with emissions/EGR. Just did the wife's blazer and when I kicked on the throttle you would sware it was a diesel. Just rolled coal. Shit works.
I always recommend replacing the fuel filter and priming the filter with seafoam on most diesel engines.
The return pump just pumps it back in the tank before it can go into the injection pump.
Be just as easy to go buy a tank of number 1 diesel.
@@mtwofeathers
Is that even available anymore?
@@Freedom1man only in the winter in very cold areas if you’re getting it from a pump.
That’s interesting I have a 1982 Cheney truck with a 6.2 diesel iam going to try it 👍😎
I run seafoam in all my trucks and my one Ford has 405 thousand miles on it and it runs vary well. So yes I recommend. Running it in everything. Good video. Thanks
do you have a 2021 update on how long this seafoam worked for your Mercedes?
LOVE the exhaust pipe !!!
Should do a video where you add a can of reslone into the oil and see how much it bumps up your compression. Worked wonders on my la360 and Jeep 4.0
How does it run if you completely purge the system of the SeaFoam? If it returns to the way it was before, -could that just be the additive increasing the combustibility of your fuel? What is your elevation? I have a 1984 6.9 IDI @ 7800' altitude and used it once-down the intake- the lesson was nothing short of- I wouldn't advise this entry point. Thanks for the info!
I put had a Honda motorcycle that was backfiring BAD i used an entire 32 oz of Lucas over 10 fill-ups and no help. i used Seafoam and it immediately cleaned the carbs and the backfiring stopped. the mechanic that rebuilt the carbs said he could see where it cleaned the varnish! i use it in all my gas cans for mowers and everything its awesome stuff!
I use half of can every oil change on my 2012TDI ! had 326k miles when I got rear ended and never replaced fuel pump on injectors on it ! this stuff is golden and cheap ! only like $8 at walmart
ive used whole can in past but it runs rough so no need for that lol also I like to use it whenever it felt like my car got slow /assumption clogged DPF
another benefit of it is that it really cleans your intake manifold xD dont ask my how or why but before you use it look inside your intake manifold and take another look at it after 1000 miles lol it really works
@@BlondynCh A whole can in the fuel tank made it run rough?
@@dyoel182 yeah (on idle) and when accelerating it had too much power it would make my DMF slip !! BTW I had a tune on car and unlocked governor but I would strongly recommend not to use more than half od can at same time!!! simply use 25% for first 4 fill ups and you will be golden ! also this stuff is amazing if you want to take care of your DPF ! after using a can exhaust gets just so hot it hardly ever fills up so much that it needs to perform a regeneration. BTW it will increase your MPG once it cleaned everything up by big numbers
Michal I run it in my 2003 ALH TDI. Great stuff!
Adjust them valves and you will have it run better. Valve adjustment is big for a little motor like that .
Yes, a valve adjustment should've been the first item done for a better test.
Perhaps throw some gear oil on your cam to stop the rocker from slapping the valve. Haha.
Love the car.
Is it ok to run this stuff in modern diesels? I have been told it’s “not good” for the modern injectors?
Great video bro. I have a cummins that needs some help after the wife filled it with gasoline. Just happen so I don't know what I have yet but this vid was great showing it really does work on the diesel.
Thanks for posting it / sharing
Un- filtered air into the turbo! that's a Big No No..
Have you seen the rest of the car????
You should change the oil now!!!!
Why? He put it in the fuel tank
@@jair8808 no he added to the crank case as well??? Hello
@@jair8808 if you add it in the crank it will thin the oil and get slug out! Then after about a 1 hour drive change that oil!!!!
You can add sea foam to the oil and it’ll be just fine you can add a larger amount 500 miles before you do an oil change to clean up the inside but it doesn’t harm the engine
Somewhere in Germany there is a Mercedes engineer vomiting.
Seafoam is 80% kerosene and a small amount of petroleum naptha. You are wasting your money. Better to use a diesel cleaner made for diesels.
in germany ????? im vomiting here !
it actually works...look up project farm. He does a great review on it.
Lol
@@MichaelJHathaway Have you ever tried it? I'm a tried and true skeptic but, I have used it on many, many occasions and have had good results each time.
Seafoam changes the cetane rating of the fuel… which in a diesel of that era is like changing the timing in a gas car.. because it is compression ignition…. It also reduces the lubricity, so use with care.
I buy seafoam by the 5 gallon pail. I put it into the oil of all the vehicles I maintain a trip or so before I change the oil. I also put it into all the tractors before I start them up for the spring.
Used it on my e46 Diesel BMW half and half as instructed, the air intake sucked in a valve (later improved) model and then the engine runs on after I cut the ignition, engine has never sounded the same since.
I have om602 TD 2.9l musso I wanted to upgrade its turbo to abigger 1 what do you recommend?
You'll get even more life to that engine if you simply ad an air filter.
Especially with the exhaust right there .
Yeah who knew clean air was good for your engine lol
Ross Sikorski youll add more life to your cp4 if you simply seafoam lol
Exactly
@@chexlemeneux8790 That's an external EGR
Corey what fuel additives do.you use in your 2017 platinum an your 2020 f250 if any?
Your videos are really good ;) I also use Seafoam in my gas alot ... I really like it. There is also this stuff called Auto-RX that has been equally interesting .... I tried it in my transmission and could tell a difference with-in a few blocks ...... it might make for an interesting video, cuz basically no one really knows about it .. .. .. it works in engines, transmissions, power steering, etc ...... it might make for a good video .. .. ..
Do a video on it, sounds interesting.
I love seafoam, been using it for 20 years, great in carbs and throttle bodies as well as a fuel additive
Why can't you use the spray seafoam in diesels? Isn't it the same ingredients as regular seafoam?
1st thing adjust the valves, try changing the fuel filter .( thats probably ur problem) last but not the least dont thin that fuel too much. That fuel is lube to the bosch precision pump. Fuel too thin will distroy any precision pump. Also u need filtered air on any engine.
.. well ULSD doesn’t have great lubricity to start fyi, and Seafoam is petroleum based and and helps with lubricity. Can’t really over treat it with Seafoam.
Marvel mystery oil is better in the crank case for a diesel in the long run than sea foam. Try it.
Duuuuuuuuuudddeeeeeee that ride is so haggard it’s epic!!!
never used it, but has a 1/2 can???
94 Grand Cherokee 4 liter would not pass smog. I changed the cap rotor and wires and also ran two tanks of premium gas through it with each tank a bottle of seafoam. Not sure if it was the sea foam or the new cap rotor and wires but we finally passed smog. We had parked Jeep for 5 years after putting two new cats in it and it would still not pass smog. We have put some other chemicals in the gas tank before that what those did not work before it was parked.
When Smogging a vehicle it’s best to run the lowest octane your engine is happy with. If it’s not a high compression engine then the longer burn time or incomplete burn of higher octane will be more work for the emissions system.
If its 84 did you do the factory update for injection seals
I buy it by the Gallon.
Sea foam and moonshine 🤗
Awesome for any of the older vehicles
I have used all the major cleaners over the years in motorcycles, regular gas engines, outboard engines, lawn mowers...... My Ram 2500 w/ Cummins 6.7 has seen all the major cleaners ran through it over the last couple of years. None really made that much of a difference. BG Products, Marvel M.O., Stanadyne, Hot Shot's , Peak, Diesel Kleen.... Out of those on the Cummins, the Hot Shot's worked the best.
Then..... I realized Sea Foam can be used in Diesels when I bought a can to use in an outboard I am working on. I have always used it in regular gas engines but never thought about using it in my truck.
HOLY COW! Regular daily route , I have gained over 2 - 3 mpg. Better throttle response, idles smoother. The other cleaners look like dark tea, where the Sea Foam is clear. I can say, none of the other cleaners have done that with this truck. I was telling everyone about the Hot Shot's products, even posted on YT about it, but now I will only be using Sea Foam.
Just got a lb7 Duramax Gunna try this and hope for better throttle response
You even posted it on YT? I can't seem to see the video...
I use both Stanadyne and seafoam in my 2003 7.3.
B as for your cummins only use the sea foam to clean your injectors. Do not use it as as a weekly treatment because it will destroy your fuel pump as it provides no lubrication to the fuel system. Diesel Kleen which is endorsed by cummins, not only helps keep the fuel system clean it also aides in lubricating it. Because diesel fuel is now ultra low sulfur content so it has no lubricating properties anymore. Once you get the fuel system clean I suggest using Diesel Kleen from then on. A Cummins Tech explained this to me and all Cummins dealers actually have Power Service Diesel Kleen displays in there dealer. That’s all I use since a month after buying my 2017 2500. It actually run better than the first day I brought it home.

Do the italian tuneup. Put half diesel half diesel in the fuel filter and in tank like you did. Agree change the oil after no more than 20 miles or 30 minutes of driving.
I’ve heard good and bad they make some good products but I’ve heard more bad than good so I’ll stick to Kleen I’ve used kleen and have had no tell or water problems in the cold I add a little every time I put some diesel in in the winter
Dang...that's awesome and just too funny...that car is the bomb....Peace
I got a 99 Powerstroke which I drained the fuel filter housing, changed filter filled housing full of Seafoam, then started and looped my subdivision twice to warm up then let sit for an hour or better. Then just start up and drive like original an that's it , by doing so I've gained 5 MPG by doing this !!! Seafoam an heat cleaned injectors from the inside totally !!! Believer !!! Running on Seafoam will not change sound of motor ANY !!!
I never see any difference because I add Seafoam to my tank several times a year to prevent any buildup in the injectors. I think it also keeps the lines and CP3 pump in better condition. Seafoam also prevents gelling in the winter. Darn stuff is getting expensive though but what isnt ?
My kubota tractor developed an injector knock under load. I put a can of seafoam in the fuel and it cleared it right up. Now about once a year I dump a can in it
Will seafoam clean a very dirty turbo on a 6.7 cummins?
Hey Corey, do you have an email for business inquiries?
I tell yall what, I put in my 6.7L powerstroke 8oz. of Clear Diesel by Power Service and man what a difference that stuff made and my rig is well taken care of so it wasn't because it was dirty and neglected. It made a believer out of me. I felt it right away with the down shift. I didn't have to push the pedal down as much to get it to down shift and the power was pretty noticeable. I've tried Sea Foam and I really didn't notice much but then again I didn't put in 2 cans in it.
I would be curious if it still kept running well without the seafoam and just on your normal brand of diesel.
Run Archoil 9100 in your oil. I used to foul injectors on my 6.0L Powerstroke, since Archoil no problems.
Would have been better if you used Diesel Purge. It works wonders. And if you want quiet injectors, use some trany fluid in the fuel tank, it'll make the injectors very quiet.
Wish I had a Haggard car like that. Why did some guys get to have all the fun and cool cards. I tried two different cars like that in 1981 the man that owned the driver's education class, had two of them. Crank open sunroof, but they didn't look as cool as Haggard. I seriously would love to have a car just like that. Bad to the bone.
I wonder if it melted the pre chambers.
think you will mess up the pre chambers using that mutch c foam....
I like how he corrected himself "...and I'm gonna put the other half [of the can] in the gas - I mean fuel"
The open hood, before & after shots were taken from different distances away from the engine. So the sound isn't going to be relative.
You should add it to the fuel filter when you change the filter, (have the engine at temp), run for two minutes, let it sit for 15, then drive it for 30 minutes at high rpm to blow out the shit from the injectors
Everyone should have a road hazard like that. Takes me back to the road hazards I drove in my youth. 😁
Im going to try this on my car and trucks
Do you live near Helen Ga?
I have been using seafoam in all my cars and trucks for the past 25 years... that little can saves alot of money on maintenance cost for your vehicle
LMAO! OMG! A Benz Diesel I Love It...That's Crazzzyyyy..Kudos to You.Tractor Flap LMAO
In Europe more diesel. But it sucks, only good for high mileage and highway
Some time ago on my previous truck as I'm a truck driver I put two bottles of seafoam in the oil and then one can of each fuel tank and filled it up and within 10 Mi it was already a noticeable difference are just phenomenal it ran quieter ran better and I got better fuel mileage here it was a semi truck with almost two million miles and I was getting close to 7 miles a gallon before I put that seafoam in there was 4.5
i would change the oil and fuel filter, and the ccv after that, then you're brand new
Hopefully you changed the oil right after this. Seafoam thins out the oil, if you run it like that forever it can damage your bearings. Don't run a ton of this through the motor it will cause the injector barrels of the injector pump to become scored. Run more advance on the injection pump (you have to loosen it from the motor and move the pump in relation to the block), and add in a variable boost controller to run 12 psi on the turbo wastegate. Make sure your ALDA is working. Loosen the nut on the top of the diaphragm on the top back of the injection pump and screw the inner part of it in 1/4 of a turn and tighten the outer nut, it will run a little more fueling to the motor. Less is more with this last adjustment.
Seafoam every oil change interval. Every fill up is too much. You will also notice lower mpg the more you use in a tank. I do it every 4000 miles and my truck runs top notch. I dump a bottle in for my 21 gallon tank. It burns through faster during that tank but after the next fill up it balances out again. Also, in the oil you should use it 30-50 miles before an oil change. It's not meant to stay in the oil during its entire oil cycle. Eventually the deposits will redeposit because the detergents oil treatments use break down after a while and stop working
by thee way seafood is essentially about half diesel or pale oil anyway . You can make the equivalent for around $2 a can a couple gallons at a time.
If you never have used it, why did you have half a can?
Same exhaust as my Ford tractor lol.
hope you are change the oil =) also a (cold) air intake (k&N filter) is needed, i mean outside air, not from under a warm engine, to top of the gains.
Needs pil change. Delo 400 or Rotella T4/T6 would be good. Adjust valves and check timing. Turn the pump up and give her some more timing. I'd use a dry filter just cause that turbo gonna be sucking out that wet filter oil.
The best diesel car ever made
If u never used seafoam ever! How did u have a half can? Lol
Probably filmed pouring it in his oil first then poured the other half in the fuel tank
His low IQ did not stop him from yapping off. LOL.
He just has his editing out of sequence.
Maybe he ment he never used it on a diesel
Nah because he added the half plus whole in at the same time uusing the funnel then added in the remaining half can from oil straight to fuel without a funnel
"I ONLY have 10 gallons in there at the moment" .... my car only has a 10 gallon fuel tank!
SEA Foam fixed my Delorean injector issues!
Do the intake spray!!. Would love to see the color of the oil after it cleaned up the gunk
Shaun Thomer that smoke you see when you put a fuel cleaner such as sea foam in the intake, is the actual cleaner getting burned off
@@michaelnikprelaj6679 if that were true. It would smoke immediately and not after the heat soak.
Toss a quart of Rislone with your next oil change, and you can get the lifters cleaned out the rest of the way.
I use it in all my 2stroke,if it call for 4ozs of oil per gal. I add 4ozs of seafoam and add gas to the 1gal mark.It results in the cleanest and driest spark plugs, which means that everything is burning completely
Mike Hicks have you threw a rod bearing yet ? That crank and rod bearing is lubricated by that 2 stroke oil, I wouldn’t run it every tank or rarely would I ever use it unless you have problem , if you have a problem fouling spark plugs run a hotter plug
Engine flush is essentially Kerosene and that is obviously cheaper than any bottled products for engine carbon cleaning, this being said I wish I never used that on one of my old vehicles because it cleaned away the grime that hid the wear and tear from previous owners and this was simply ran before the oil change at idle. I imagine Sea Stuff is similar in crankcase oil.
Kerosene - Napatha. In the fuel tank it the Kerosene is probably like adding Jet Fuel to a lesser extent and should lower the power of diesel fuel ( water it down so to speak ) this can be a good thing perhaps to prevent gelling of diesel fuel being stored for long but now I am getting hypothetical. Sea foam has its use but I would not abuse a machine with it- read the label. 🥳
In my grove i have had really good success with Seafoam cleaning injectors and making diesel run much smoother by running the engine with Seafoam only under a normal heavy load for a few hours.
Pierre Roberge why not ?
Sea foam is awesome but one can a year is more than enough. If you have dpf don’t use more than a quarter of a can per full tank. And only put in oil before day before you change oil.
joe Vasquez why not only use 1/4 can in fuel with dpf ?
Song name? Cheera
I’ve actually been wondering what sea foam out do in the crankcase of my 250k mile lbz or should I just leave well enough alone? Lol. It runs fine. Balance rates are fine.
If you like Mercedes and Diesel engines look at Mercedesource on CZcams. Kent is very knowledgeable and interesting to watch and listen to. Enjoy.
Add hot shots oil additive
Cody Marston I was using OptiLube OilFortifier but the shipment was expensive.
I like seafoam for sure. I run it every few tanks of gas and 100 or so miles before an oil change a couple times a year. Really keep the carbon out of the engine.
Do you just dump it straight into the engine oil cap in your engine? I have a diesel accord 2.2 thinking about getting some for the fuel tank and oil
Love your exhaust
