This is actually a really good video, don’t take this as an insult Gbay but your unique commentary suits really well with Documentary/Vlogging style videos, hearing you talk but with the video being whatever you’re doing at that time instead of League is actually a lot more interesting. (Don’t get me wrong I love your gameplay videos just as much) You should maybe consider doing vlogging in the future because you have a natural talent in this
"Here's a fun question: have you ever seen a beautiful sunset before - something that was so gorgeous, you thought to yourself "I have to take a picture of this so I can capture this moment in time forever" - so you end up taking your picture and it comes out looking like this? [an iphone picture of a sunset with a smudge in the corner appears on screen] I mean it kinda looks cool but it's no where near representative of the beautiful memory you were trying to hold onto. And as you look at it, you slowly end up realizing: Nothing can perfectly capture or recreate that moment you're experiencing right now." - Gbay99
Gbay, this was a great video to watch. I can hear the passion and joy in your voice. Please keep up the great work, you have a place here on youtube that isn’t necessarily league of legends.
I love the fact that you included Mark Twain's quote at the end. And it is *SO TRUE*. I've been lucky enough, between my dad's and my own military service, plus a few other trips, to have seen much of the world. It's an eye-opening experience every time, and really helps to ground one self. I'm really glad you got the opportunity to fly to South Korea. Looks like you had an amazing experience. :)
Your videos where you put a lot of time into production are a lot more enjoyable than your weekly/daily series based videos. I know this method is a lot less cost efficient, but your documentaries are just class. You're a really good editor.
I am not into LoL or even in the scene but I just randomly watched your last doc about Huanfeng and I really enjoyed it so I thought I'll check out your other videos. Coming from Europe I've spent 3 of the 4 last year all around Asia doing photography, volunteering or living and your excitement and confusion about all the different cultural things made me really laugh. Reminded me of my beginnings in Asia :D It seems like we made many similar experiences, especially with all the things you said about language and communication with others. The world is so different - it's amazing. Keep up the good work!

Cool video, worth the wait. Even as a korean speaker I would have been too much of a shut-in neet to travel around insadong like that lol. Looking forward to the Afreeca video.
I've had this video on repeat for the whole day just as background noise because the music and your voice is so fucking relaxing to listen to. This has to be one of my favorite videos from you so far, besides your documentaries and your daily discussion videos you used to do a few years ago. Glad to see you enjoyed your trip to Korea and thanks you Afreeca for sending my favorite league youtuber to your country to make so much wonderful content.
Amazing video goldbay, happy to see I’m still watching you for your interesting videos like this which always seem to leave an impression on the way I perceive things. Thanks for the video!
I find it fascinating that we both came to the same conclusion about video games. Yes they are fun, ofc i will keep playing them but once you step out of your room of your house, you'll realize how insignificant those petty things we argue about everyday are. I definetly feel like our generation in generall is fighting its own fight on isolation and there is probably no better way to fight this then go somewhere where you have to communicate with people who dont even speak your language. All in all amazing video Gbay, was really looking forward to this :)
I don't really watch long youtube videos, but you're one of the few channels that I watch the whole video-regardless of the length. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here at Korea :)
This is one of the better videos on your channel. Maybe because you liked your trip so much, maybe because I like Korea so much or maybe because the way you narrate suits these style of videos. No matter what, good job! Hopefully you will make more of these.
I know exactly how you feel, both in the experiences and the difficulty relaying and describing those experiences, but you did a bang up job! The sunset photograph analogy is perfect. And don't stress those regrets too much, they're part of the growth. They're mistakes you wont make a second time. Great video, glad you had such a wonderful time. Now... LoR when?
Gbay, this is both extremely well-made and extremely well-articulated. You did a great job of highlighting some of your meaningful experiences and relating that to an overarching topic. I've been watching since 2015, and I've grown to love your personality (at least on camera) and your personal flair content-wise. It upsets me that heartfelt videos that take boatloads of effort to edit and write (such as yours) are drowned out by an over saturation of videos using clickbait strats or appealing to the next huge trend. You deserve much more recognition than you get, my friend. Thanks for the content :)
This is the content that i love best from your channel Gbay. Insightful experiences and thoughtful comments about this culture and video game culture in general. It’s something i think you do incredibly well
thanks gbay this was really good. I love how you just speak about whatever you want to and your passion, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness genuinely shines through and is like, the core of the video. I really feel like those three things are what make your videos & documentaries good, and that this has been the case for a very very long time.
This was awesome Gbay... Really surprising too! I've been studying abroad in China for 2 years now and I felt the same revelation about how I speak English to communicate with others as you did...! As always you leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling after watching another of your videos.. can wait for the documentary!!
Was starting to consider changing my name 😂 Edit: After watching this video from beginning to end, I have only 1 complaint: I can't like this more than once.
I'm really glad to be able to see another one of your videos again. Thank you for sharing your experience! I've been wanting to travel since I've been stuck in one place for so long, I feel called out by that quote at the end. :p I'll have to try it some time. 👀
gbay, my guy, i love hearing your casual voice man. It's very soothing. I really enjoy these videos, your documentary videos, and really all your videos, but I really enjoyed this one. Glad you had a great time and welcome back brotha :)
Absolutely amazing video, I'd love to see more like this. Despite what you said, it was very easy to understand your passion and enthusiasm you felt for this trip and I'd love to see more similar videos in the future
I don't usually comment, like ever, but all your short-documentaries are just great. I enjoyed every single one of them, and I believe that you have, if not talent at least a lot of gift in creating and writing them.
I recently started travelling and how honest you are and appreciative about the culture is inspiring, truthfully. I have felt the same way and some simple things have changed my entire outlook on life and how little we are compared to this large world. I expected a league video but was very pleasantly surprised with the vlog. I have many photos that never capture that moment but at least you will always have it to remind you of a time when you had that experience. Keep this up! It is ironically a breath of fresh air even on youtube
This is the gold standard for CZcams vlogs. It's so complete and really well done. I really want to hear about the artist who encouraged you to take one of her pieces home, but it's cool! Hope you're having a wonderful day and thank you for the video!
I really agree with your mindset toward traveling to Seoul! Traveling is more fun than a 1v5 clutch because everything is new. It's not one fading moment, it's all one beautiful experience. Would love to see you get out more and explore the world when you get a chance Gbay! Love the video, keep up the amazing work!
Love it. Such a great video... I am headed to Japan next month and this video only empowered me to just jump into the culture and immerse myself in their world.
I started watching this vid two years ago, living in Korea, and finished it, two years later, in Netherlands. Loved it and I completely agree with your conclusions.
You described one of the main reasons why VR never really took off. It has a very high barrier of entry. You can't really imagine what it's like unless you've actually experienced it yourself
The Mark Twain quote at the end was in my mind from the moment you said youd enjoyed trying to communicate with people who didn't speak english. It really does show that at our core we're all so fundamentally similar that disliking someone based solely on their skin/nationality/whatever small difference is just nonsensical. Keep up what you're doing man, great work.
I went to Seoul just earlier this year in January and it’s so nice to see gbay go to all the places I went to and also have the same fear of communicating with Korean people. Fortunately I went with my Korean girlfriend so I had it better off haha
I was in Korea as well and I really enjoyed my time there. It was cool to see you do some of the same things I did as well. I am glad you had a good time.
Gbay, I don't "Like" a lot of videos, in fear of tainting my "liked videos" playlist with too much nonsense. But this one gets in. I definitely agreed on every point you touched on at the end, and I loved the true joy you showed from this experience. Hittin the feels a little bit my dude.
Just wanna throw this out here, Splatoon is one of the only games ever to integrate motion controls effectively into a competitive video game. That is all.
Hey, *if* VR controls can become more effective than traditional controls, then that's basically innovation. The big takeaway is that something has to work well enough to make other things obsolete in order to be effectively innovative. At least by Gbay's standards. And tbh, for a genre like horror, looking at a normal screen is just a definitively less immersive experience.
As someone who enjoys VR I feel like he never used one and just held his opinions. Its always been pretty precise if you actually set it up correctly. And beatsaber has to be vr for the point of physicality. For the rest it's a very cool trip and the superbowl was pretty intense.
Exactly how I felt too when he was talking about VR, I haven't met a single person who didn't think that VR was incredibly immersive (except if they get motion sickness and they just can't do vr at all). But his opinion seems to be common too. I guess people think VR is clunky or whatever but when they actually do try it, so far, they've always been amazed
Gbay i don't know if people tell you this but i'm sure you don't hear it enough: Your directing skills are more than TV quality. The shots you took were amazing. With each scene we can tell that you have something to say about it or a vision to share, a need to talk about something even if it's the Super Bowl while you're in South Korea. I really feel like you could be an amazing movie director if it was something that would interest you. I Enjoyed 28 minutes and 5 seconds of this video.
