  • The Pendle Way is a 45 mile hike in the rolling hills and moors of Lancashire. Due to the limited daylight hours of winter this expedition was undertaken over a long weekend of three days and two nights.
This video reflects the challenges of the first hiking day and the wild camp of the first night. The Pendle Way starts at the Pendle Heritage Centre in Barrowford near Nelson in Lancashire. From here we head for the hills to Barnoldswick. We spot the Stanfield Tower on the horizon before ascertain the lights of Weeds Hill. We also, cover some of our milage on the Pennine Bridleway. We move through Baroldswick noticing Bancroft Mill.
Eventually we walk alongside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal visiting there highest lock. After a few miles we leave the canal and visit St Mary le Gill medieval church. We pass through Earby to eventually find our wild camping spot in a perfect spot in a sheltered valley near a water source.
We note the requirement to pitch tent early because of the fast approaching darkness. We review our dinner challenges and retire to bed ready for our early departure the next day.

Did not know it was called Stansfield Tower! Confused me for a moment. I live not so far from here, and always known it as Blacko Tower.
Great video! Enjoyed the walk! :) New subscriber.
If you are ever in that area again, I recommend a great walk - From Wycoller Country Park, onto the Pendle Bridalway, (past Boulsworth Hill and Coldwell) and head to the Gorple Stones, then onto Widdop. Then from Widdop go past the Pack Horse Inn. The is a 'Z' in the road, with a scout hut, and there is a path down to the river from this bridge. Then from here you can walk up the hill and through the forest all the way down into Hebden Bridge - One of my favourite little towns, very friendly and a great place to end a walk. Some of the best views and scenery the area has to offer can be found along this walk.
