38x32 or 36x32 just pinches my gut
When I was in the US Navy we wore dungarees. They were plain-styled bell bottoms, but they were comfortable. The reason why we wore bell bottoms was in case the ship sank or we fell overboard. You can take off the jeans while still wearing boots, so we would then use the jeans as a life preserver.
How could use the jeans as a life preserver if they were completely soaked? I'm just trying to understand the process, as it doesn't seem to add up.
And just out of curiosity, how long ago were you in the Navy?
@@thecowboy9698 Search online. There are articles that show you how to tie the pants legs to trap some air.
Glad you like it!
These videos are very good. Because certain people for one reason or another never really learn how to "dress" and meaning there's no book/guides for these type of things and that it is more of an "art" verses something you can read up in a manual, these videos are a life saver for many of us! :)
I never learned how to buy jeans, I have always worn sweats. Want to get to dress.
That's great to hear - I love stories like this!
You're welcome!
Good to know you like it.
Finally! I have the hardest time finding jeans, seems like every company has different sizing and cuts, so annoying.
Great to hear sir and thank you for sharing.
Working on it!
Hi to everyone. I´m a guy from Madrid (Spain), and what I´ve seen in Antonio´s videos is that, no matter where are you from, his advide is useful all around de world. There´s no need to be from USA. Why is that? very simple, because his advice is dealing with classical ideas and not with todays fashion and trends. Thank you Antonio. You are a crack!!!
You are welcome!
I am 32, slim and have always worn straight high waste jeans with longer rise. I never let fashion prescribe to me what I should or should not wear. I wear jeans that suit me. Your talk about different jeans styles is informative clear and professional. Thank you so much
I've found that the quality of jeans has dropped DRAMATICALLY over the last few years. Jeans that I used to buy at Old Navy (please don't judge) that fit and fit well a year ago, now don't, and I'm the exact same weight I was. The problem now is that the whole "skinny jeans" trend has taken hold, and we're ALL suffering because of it. Designers are making jeans that only fit emaciated Euro-hipsters, and nobody else.
This reminds me of the 70's and 80's, when everyone was making jeans skin tight because of disco, and it was impossible to find a pair that fit well, or even at all. I didn't wear a pair of jeans all through the 80's because of that.Looks like history is repeating itself.
RobotShlomo I would say go for the modern fit jeans from Lee. Regular fit and very nice
i usually go for slim fit, skinny jeans is too uncomfortable for me
+RobotShlomo You know, you're completely on point. I have exactly the same problem with jeans. Everything is skinny these days and I'm not one for that. I'm a big guy and prefer loose fit jeans. If I do find a good pair they end up having a stupid pattern on them or the price is extortionate. Manufacturers, like TJ Maxx tend to stock the slim fit stuff and then they'll have a few pairs which have a really big waist.
I used to buy mine from H&M or Levis. I wouldn't pay that amount for a pair of Levis today.
+RobotShlomo What happened to the jeans you used to buy from Old Navy? Why not continure wearing them?
RobotShlomo I'm
You are welcome.
3 Million subscribers! Well deserved Antônio, you and Sven completely revolutionized the way I present myself to the world. You're a legend!
This is going to make me hate shopping for jeans a lot less! I was getting tired of trying to figure out what everything meant. Thank you.
Glad to be of help.
This is what CZcams lacks. Straight to the point no bs vids with no gimmicks. Just raw knowledge and information. I love how you are uncut, no editing, or crazy tricks. Just all natural and I respect that the most. I prefer to make my vids the same.
Well said! It's not that difficult, just approach making videos and clips like partly educational or tutorial. But most of all, approach making videos PROFESSIONALLY. This gentleman does that, and he is professional.
Thank you sir!
Thanks!
You got it sir!
God bless you! i suffer from perpetual plumbers crack and i never knew why. i simply could not find jeans that came up high enough. all this time ive been buying "low rise" jeans that only go up so far, all because i never knew the difference. your videos and artofmanliness articles are a blessing
I travel a lot (well - used to) and I have a lot of Kiwi/Australian viewers!
Very helpful. Thanks Antonio. I'm a tall, slim/fit guy, 6'2'' at 175ish lbs. I think I got lucky and happened to buy slim fit bootcuts back in high school and realized that it was the best look for me. The flare at the bottom helps hide that my skinnier shins, but because they're slims, my thighs aren't swimming in them. Also, with bigger feet, tapered or slim (vintage straight) cuts make it look like I have clown shoes, but boot cut hides more of the shoe, minimizing the effect.
I live in the UK and I know exactly what you mean that different makes of jeans fit entirely different. I usually shop at Gap, H&M, Next, John Lewis and M&S. All of these shops are reasonably priced. A Levi 502 regular taper fits me perfect 34W 34L. Keep up the good work I follow all of the men’s style guys on CZcams 👍
Great video. I'm going to college soon and I saw your video about what to wear. And it was a serious wake up call.
You just saved me a "whole lot" of hours of future jean shopping. Simply thank you!
Hey Antonio, just wanted to say that you are doing an absolutely wonderful job! I always felt like I needed fashion advice, and now I have you as my guru. Cheers!
Varun Kapur awesome - appreciate the kind words

LOVE from Kolkata, India 💚💛🙏
As I watch your videos, I see a HUGE improvement in video editing, etc over the years. I may never meet you (I live near Indianapolis), but you've helped me SO much. THANK YOU !
It's a good one!
Thank you so much, I love the mens 560 comfort fit but notice most store do not carry them. Your tutorial helped me out so much. Thanks again.
This video was so helpful. I learned a few things which will help me in my next purchase of Levis in the next few days.
I really respect and enjoy the professionalism in all of your videos. Nice job, very helpful :)
Hey Antonio, I started to buy " Advanced Comfort Cowboy Cut " they fit me the best. Looking the best on me anymore, for the longest time I've worn the regular relaxed fit. Noticed that they're really baggy from my legs downwards . As I've watched ur channel it's helped me look much better ( shirts boots, jackets etc ) for the women in my life etc even though they are a little more expensive than most jeans that you'd find at Walmart etc But it's worth it seeing & hearing compliments from the women in my life etc especially when I wear a nice shirt with my boots and my cowboy hat as well
Excellent video, I really appreciate the well presented and concise method by which you provide clarification
Thanks a lot Antonio. I'm getting a couple of projects now that I never would've gotten if I still wore the clothes I did before I found your youtube channel. Cheers from Norway
haha I love you homie, all the luck with your videos and your family.
I think you don't realise how funny you are, you crack me up every time you try te be, keep it up.
Greetings from Iceland
It is great that you incorporated in some pictures and that you actually have an example to show, and not just a description.
Button flies: essential on jeans. I won't consider a pair with a zip. Levi 501s for me.
Interesting video.
I appreciate your videos, helpful insight! I’m 24 years old average body type and this helped!
My life is now complete!
Nice, very informative. Sadly I had to learn the relaxed fit and regular fit thing by myself over hard experience. It was good learning about the high and low rise thing. Thanks for making a good straight to the point video about men's jeans
Useful Tips.....and thanks for having subtitles.
Nicely explained, Finally I understood "Rise"..Thanks
Great video Antonio! You are providing a great service for men!
This was extremely helpful and informative. Thanks for posting
You are welcome.
What he says is so true! Shopping for trousers is very confusing. You also need to take into account whether you intend to wear trousers or jeans with a belt or not. If you want to wear them with a belt then they should be slightly loose around the waist. Slightly looser trousers will also last longer as there is less strain on the seams and on the fabric itself. While tighter waisted trousers will look good but will wear out faster because of the strain you put on the seems and fabric.
very informative; has given and provided information, that many of didnt know, and didnt use/dont use when purchasing Levis, etc. I appreciate the information, and most of all;the speaker presented himself very professionally, was well spoken. I personally appreciated this ( your ) video. Vanity sizing ? Never knew about it, now I do. Thank you very much for your expertise , and for sharing your knowledge with us. Thank You.
thanks for the helpful vid.been looking all over youtube for this!
You are welcome.
Very useful video well done I'm actually in the process of buying 501s unable to try on in a shop have to order online trial an error at the moment. I like the way you break down each part of the inner seam outer seam, height and the bottom of the trouser finding the perfect fit for you with 501s it is almost an art form. Always use to buy 32 leg and have altered I have now found that 30 leg is perfect for me as I've got older I must have shrunk have I one ripple at the bottom which enough for me I usually where desert boots or chukka boots
i knew almost everything, but thx for the refresher course.....
I agree - sounds liekt eh same thing.
I've been watching all your videos and they're really helpful, THANK YOU!! ^^ hoping for more videos from you
Romelyn Viduya You're welcome! :)
I don't own any but my friend Barron says good things about them.
Learnt many things... great video. Thanks
your the best man i love you you have really helped me out
Hi there, could you please suggest me what kind (style) of jeans is perfect to me to put on as a young man that has short legs (compare to my body)???
Is it ok for me low rise, regular fit n straight & boot-cut legs? Thx a lot.
Can you provide guidance on which brand and model with the highest wasite? thx
this is the sercond of your video I watch. This one is pretty good, specially the fact about jeans waists are not actually your real waists - that is so true.
Thanks for the great information. Do you prefer to wash your jeans in cold water, or take them to the dry cleaners? Thanks!
Thanks for bursting my bubble..i actually did think my waist waist was 32! ;-(
I love watching old RMRS videos. 🥲
Love this channel. Love that shirt also, where did you get it?
Hey, I was wondering could you do a video for larger men. I grew up through the 90's with the baggy fitted jeans which were awesome for my body type. Fast forward to 2015 and skinny and straight leg fit are in and that style does not look good on bigger men.
Love your videos bud.
Your stuff is really useful. Thanks!
Great review.straight to the point video 👍
First point you talking about. Waist size. I fit into 38 levi, 40 wrangler and 42 in other brand. You are correct about this confusing buyers.
thanks for the elaborate explanation.. helpful for many guys like me. Love from India 😄❤️💚💛🙏
hello sir, please tell me a perfect combination for a jeans shirt.
Awsome content, really helpful !!!!
Thanks that was a huge problem for me
Man you are good! Thanks for the video - good job.
Good stuff thank u for your knowledge on jeans
Wow thank you so much for this, I grew up in a very low income household and could never really afford to go shopping and learn about these things.
You're welcome. Glad this helped. :)
Great video. Wish more men would follow your advice
really i've learn a lot of things and enjoyed watching this vid. thanks
Mohammed Q Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the video, really enjoyed watching it. I always dislike buying jeans, it is hard to find a good pair. It is even more frustrating when a lot of brands have different ideas about their sizes etc.
Great video. I learned a lot.
Great video. I actually always thought the second number was leg leng
Great video! Can you say something about raw jeans? They seem to be popular now. Also, my dad showed me a levi's jean jacket he bought this year and one he bought from the 80s. You can definitely tell that the material quality has gone down and is much thinner. Thoughts on this?
Very informative video! Thanks for clarifying many of the common questions regarding how jeans fit! Also, I thought I should let you know that in the beginning of 2013 Levi's changed the 501 "original" fit to be a slimmer leg with ever so slight a taper through it. A true "regular" fitting straight leg jean would be the 505 (also a high rise) from Levi's or something like the Protégé fit from Adriano Goldschmied (AG).
That's lame. Reminds me of those, what you call 'woke' people who always want to rename cities and streets...instead of....you know....actually building new ones.
Excellent video and informative too. Subscribed.
Thanks😏does height have any effect on the inseam?
simply excellent
thanks mr Antonio ,very informative. keep up the good work .. just wanna ask, do you know what type of jeans that Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters wears in their live session from studio 606 ??? one of my friend said it is skinny and some of them said it is slim fit, now i'm confused .
that helped a lot.... thank you.
A neat way of selection
Highly highly informative! Awesome video.
Thanks a lot!
