I’ve grown Venus flytraps before, and they’re kind of picky about what they’ll actually eat. They want protein, which is how they get their nitrogen since their natural bog environment is so nutrient poor. They don’t want a lot of fat, though. Feeding them bits of hamburger resulted in the traps rotting. Red meat is too rich for their slow digestion. One plant enjoyed a bit of the meat from buffalo chicken. It digested it down to white powder and didn’t seem to mind the spice. If they don’t like what they’ve caught, the traps will reopen the next day. If they like it, they seal shut, as you saw. If they happen to leak, don’t touch that liquid that oozes out. It reeks, and the smell is very hard to get off! I’ve had plants that became anorexic, too. They would close their traps but wouldn’t eat anything. I’m assuming they had all the nitrogen they needed or were unhappy in some other way. I had no idea they would try to digest candy, though! That’s interesting. I would have thought it would prefer the gel center because there’s some protein in there.
It's pretty picky about temperature, moisture and light too. I tried to grow one, but it died almost instantly. Not like the some sort of palm I have that seems to grow no matter what happens around or to it.
@@3characterhandlerequired Yeah, tried a small one and it's surprisingly hard to take care of. And watching this video with multiple is just incredible too.

You might get eaten, ha ha!" But then I looked over at one of the closed traps, there was something weird sticking out of it. It was a frog's leg.
Random info:- Venus flytrap is actually photosynthetic but these grow in nitrogen deficient soil so they're evolved to have these traps to get nitrogen from the insects. Also beautiful shots tho!!
