I'm back! In this video I show how to change the punch setting on the Spektrum Firma 150 ESC that comes on the new Arrma models. This one just happens to be on my Notorious. I also show what the different punch settings do. I hope this video helps you out! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
This video has really helped me with mine. I've had it six months, and the punch was on 4 now on 9, and it's a totally different truck. Love my notorious.
Your video was a very good explanation and demonstration of what the punch setting actually does and why you would change it. Most videos show you how to change it, but don't really explain what the punch setting does. Thank you!

That's interesting at the least. Back in the day, they didn't have all of this available user programming. This punch setting is a nice addition for some as it takes the violence out of the acceleration of an electric - kind of like a stall converter in a hot rod. Nice learning tool for sure. We have a foot of snow here now , no rc driving for me at the moment !!! Again , so glad you got the V5 version to fully experience the Arrma brand !!! BTW , start doing front flips with it , very fun , truck does that easy to !!!

It takes some experimenting between gearing, weight, motor, torque, battery, plus what you want. After 4 years I finally have my favorite basher dialed in. It doesn't end. That's the fun!

Just picked up my notorious v5 today its awesome I've been messing with the settings some and man this car can really handle well for such a short wheel base I was pleasantly surprised always thought I had a big yard till I tried running a 1/8 through it couldn't imagine running a 1/5
I know that feeling. I need a bigger yard, or at least a bigger area cleared out.

i broke my kraton in the same spot but i snapped the wing into three pieces at the same time but i do thank you for the info on the punch setting walk through cause i wanted to turn that up but also turn my braking down a little
Throw on an rpm wing mount and you're set. My v4 is almost all stock mechanically except that and a front bumber. Added the 160a firma on stock blx motor until it gets cooked. Glad you like this one. Seems to have fixed the v4 issues out of the box

Good information. I'm with you...I find a happy medium for punch to save diffs, and drive cups :) The Spektrum program card is worth getting if you have a lot of these systems

@@outsourcedrc so much easier to get to the menu when you have the spektrum SPMXCA200 program box. Done this both to my Big Rock V3 and typhon 6s V5

Dose the punch setting 9 on the typhoon 6s v5 somehow increase acceleration because I want to do a race against my dads car and I need the best race performance 😀
I hear that diffs get stripped often on the notorious when doing standing backflips. Is this true fit you, and do you know any ways to help preserve the differential gears? Thank you
Also I love the under painted notorious body if I had to chose outkast or notorious yes they are the same truck but the notorious paint job to show silver under the black paint is awesome and that alone would make me pick the notorious over the outkast

Was this with the stock servo? My mew outcast exb RTR has terrible steering, yours seems to be amazing
I have a question. How is your range away from interference ... i was a bit annoyed that if I hold the throttle for more then 4 seconds it's total loss of signal.... which is annoying as my rock crawler has twice the distance haha also are the escs locked to these remotes... I haven't looked into it honestly just come to mind now..

In other cars punch level is diferent rigth? In my losi dbxl e 2. 0 punch level 5 is higth and punch level 1 is low, is a spektrum firma 160. Or I am wrong?

I just tried binding my slt3 to the Kraton 6s. Something went wrong. Pulling trigger back goes in reverse and push forward goes well forward. Arg.

@@outsourcedrc I don’t remember if you specified what “C” battery your running but I’ve got a granite v3 and I bought a 50c 3s 6200mah battery thinking it would be able to do flips with it. So far it’s still not able to do it. I’ve turned up the punch to max “5” and tightened slipper a little but was afraid to go to far and burn something up. Do you think it’s due to the c rating?
Get RPM81642 and or warranty so you have spare. They should last longer and be TOUGH, the screws broke on mine too. Just doing wheelies, no backflips either. I fixed with the rpm and took the wing off. It's what catches and twist the wing mount and wheelie bar off.

Awesome video. I have a question if you can help - I feel like my notorious v5 has more power in reverse. When I hit the brakes it comes to a very fast & violent stop. When I try to reverse it wheelies in reverse. I've switched the TH/R switch on the transmitter, and now it seems faster going forward and pulls wheelies and less violent in reverse but now the problem is that my throttle/reverse control has been reversed. Any idea how to correct this? Thanks
Do you have the wires reversed? check all your connections. Also, check your settings in the ESC and make sure everything is set up correctly. The manual will tell you how.

I just got into RC and my first one is a purple Vorteks and I am Extremely happy 😍. Thank you for this video I changed the punch setting from level 3 stock to level 4 and what a difference. It does Willie's now with ease and I think it's perfect level, I think 5 might be to much. What do you think should I change the pinion to the other one it comes with and maybe even raise the brake setting also? Please let me know. Thank you
I run the stock pinion. It’s quick with that and it’s really fast.
I’m not sure about the break. I just run it stock.

Seems like my traxxas maxx wheelies quicker on setting 2 than 3. Any idea why? Hobbywing max 8 esc with stock traxxas motor
I'm not sure. My guess would be that the wheels turning slower lets them get traction. A higher burst probably breaks traction too much?
Hey, just a quick tip, you can roll it back over by using the throttle by rocking it back and forth, but it destroys the body. I have a V4 Notorious and there's some cracks forming on the shell by the hood and doors from flipping it over using the throttle
You gotta drywall tape and silicon the inside of the body!

Are higher punch settings harder on the drive train than the lower settings as far as longevity of the gears etc?
Yes. I have a Stampede on 3s with a Firma ESC and motor. I had my punch all of the way up, and i couldn't stop snapping driveshafts. Having a delay in the torque avoids maximum torque being applied to the drivetrain components while the vehicle is not in motion. It's much harder to get a vehicle moving from a stop than it is to accelerate an already moving vehicle. My Stampede is only 2wd, and i find it plenty punchy on the 2nd setting out of 5, and my drivetrain has been holding up well since. Once my metal driveshafts come in, i might bump it up one more, but i really would rather not start wearing transmission components.
I bought the kraton EXB ECS and the punch setting only goes to 3.
Would you recommend this over the Typhon 6s?
They are different, but I think I like the Typhon better. Get the Notorious if you like to do stunts.

Does traxxas have this settings? My new rustler doesn’t seem fast as it should be. And it’s not in training mode.
No. The Rustler does feel slow to a lot of people. Make sure you have your slipper adjusting correctly. If its too loose, you can get poor performance.
@@outsourcedrc just put a castle copperhead 10 in and running 4s with the speed pinion it’s much better now
An esc program card is so much easier to use then messing with esc itself its cheap too save the hassle and buy an esc program card. Plus definitely get the rpm wing mounts because you will brake the stock ones again.
