Hi all! I'm aware of a short glitch at approx 2:13 in the video. This must have been an upload error as it wasn't in the original file. I've gone into the CZcams editor which allows me to cut certain portions, so I've cut that section out.. but it will take up to a couple of hours for the change to occur. There may be slight hiccup on the new version, but at least there won't be moments of frozen silence. lol Sorry about this!

love the table and the little lanterns! we had the same danish modern (bauhaus?) dinette when i was a kid, including the leaf, and 4 matching chairs with sort of oval "floating" backrests upholstered in some kind of faux leather with piping. it was a beautiful set with an elegant, simple design aesthetic that i only grew to appreciate as an adult.

i was more into the gothic and antique pieces with history at that age...especially if they had fancy keys...always figured i'd fill my house with that kind of furniture. the MCM stuff didn't appeal to me until i was well into my adulthood, and i've grown to love its simplicity. when i got my own home, i ended up with some hand-me-downs, one cherished antique i bought, a lot of practical--more timeless--pieces, and as many artisanally-crafted hand-painted pieces from david marsh as i can afford. :) @@TranscendFurnitureGallery

So far I've been very lucky with veneer over solid wood on the MCM pieces I've done. I'm currently working on a Drexel bedroom set that is walnut veneer over solid wood. There is a section in the front of the dressers that are solid walnut. I love everything you do and I've learned a lot from you.

    • @TranscendFurnitureGallery
      @TranscendFurnitureGallery  Před 9 měsíci +7

I’ve noticed that a lot of the American made pieces have a tendency to use more wood. Here, it’s almost always pressed wood, but I don’t mind at all. It holds up better over time here.

@@TranscendFurnitureGallery I couldn’t relocate the discussion of the “Fire your husband for bad photography” rant you posted Friday. I had something to add, so I hope you don’t mind my reaching out to you this way.
Like others who absolutely love what you do and how you do it, I wanted to lash out at the person for the attack. Trollers have also derided me over picayune nonsense, so I tend to be defensive of those I value. I thought after I got home I would look online for the Snappy Comeback of the Century and share it with you. I even thought if I were in your place, I would ask the person for receipts-which videos? what timestamps? how often?, etc.
But then a thought came to me, as an animal lover who with great joy watches videos of people who rescue spicy kittens. The cold, hungry little ones often hiss at their rescuers, possibly because that’s all the babies know to do. Perhaps this person’s world has hardened her (or him), and she wouldn’t dare snap at another mean person, so she picks on gentle souls like you who clearly have personal and professional successes and a dedicated following. How sad for this poor soul-let’s hope some sunshine comes her way.
For what it is worth: I have shown samples of your videos to at least two others, one a business associate, as examples of how to structure a presentation for CZcams.

The chair and the previously-sconce candle holders worked very well for your staging! Thank you for the description, and for letting us see your brain-burp. LOL

Beautiful! Thank you for this in-depth video on sanding. I have learned 98% of what I know about refinishing furniture from you and your videos. I have also learned that I am impatient when sanding and that never turns out well, AND that you CAN over sand solid wood… I love the way you repurposed those lamps they turned out awesome as well. Thank you for your videos and all the time you put into it! It is so appreciated.

It’s a revelation! The pores close up over night. Be sure to do your final sanding followed immediately with your finish or stain. That is so helpful, thanks!

I rescued a cocktail table very similar to this while cleaning out my mom and dad's place. You couldn't have provided a more perfect tutorial! Thank you!

The table looks great. It doesn’t matter that it wasn’t a huge project. What matters is that you restored the beauty to a table. And the candle holders are awesome, too. Again, you saved a couple of pieces that could have been discarded and made them better! I love your work and look forward to new videos. Oh, and I am subscribed and have been for quite some time.

The iron accident and your reaction to it cracked me up.
The candle holders turned out realyl beautiful. I'ms o happy that you were able to salvage them and they didn't end up in a landfill.

Loved the light project Angie. I'm a collector of old, quirky light fixtures and I really appreciate seeing them put to new use. As for the iron, I laughed out loud. I can so relate! I've been a professional seamstress for almost 40 years and yes, I still do things like that from time to time.

I think the black base ties the glass top together better than just the wooden base alone. Still a great way to use the laser tool, though! The table is beautiful!!

The table turned out beautiful, as I knew it would! The candle holders turned out to be such a delightful surprise though!😮😊. My older sister loved the color orange in her decor. Since her passing I grew to love it too; first in small touches then as beautiful coordinating color around my home. It comforts me and keeps me close to her.

You are so amazing. I watch your videos not because I want to learn to refinish and flip, but because I enjoy watching the process. However, I learn so much! I have some personal pieces that need "help", and I now know how to do it correctly. Thank you!

I can’t commend you enough for the excellent work you do. This is my first time commenting after having been a follower for slightly over a year but I felt compelled to do so. Those candle holders are beautiful! I never thought of myself as a mid-century furniture lover, but every time I watch one of your videos, you change my mind more and more. Please continue to do all the great work you do.

I love those candle holders! I grew up in the 70s, and they just hit all the right nostalgia points. Having them at different heights was a really good choice.
The table is lovely - so satiny and rich-looking. But I am such a magpie for colored glass that I had to comment on that first. 😂

Love the table refinish, it reminds me of my childhood. I liked the lamps a lot. I think I’d have shorter candles in there to let the light sine through the glass more. Great job as always!
