When I lived in NYC I used to see her every morning walking arm in arm with her husband Garson... We would pass each other on Central Park and nod to each other...We never spoke.
what a sharp mind and incredible find to me. interviewer didn't do even a brief preperation to this. she could tell hell lot of her life. i feel i need readingher books and learn more from her.
Greetings from florida 🌴 Luv Ruth G 💕 saw all her movies!! She died in 1985@ age 88! Had 1/ child....Gordon was @ her side when She passed 💕 they were married 43 years 💕 Now their together again 💕
Wish he'd talked to her about her remarkable career and not the men in her life. I could care less about them. 'I never coveted another man's wife .' That's wonderful!
Yes! I too did not find him to be credible in his line of questioning and persistence regarding the Marriage question after the birth of her son! Nevertheless, *LADY* *R* handled this brilliantly with Grace Poise and Class! She is my FAVORITE yesteryear actress! Also, she is someone I would have loved to have known in-person! -💚*🙏🏼
LOL I love this betch! She always dominated every interview she did. The INSTANT she had an in, she'd start running that mouth of hers and wouldn't stop!
Anyone ever see the Arlene Francis interview with RG? OMG!! True, Gordon has had alot done. But so has Francis. Nonetheless, Francis, whose Armenian origins are effaced by WASP swank, ruthlessly humiliated Gordon on account of the makeover. Arlene was one of 5 presenters who helmed the `Emphasis` live radio show (NBC) on which I was PA. She seemed nice, okay. But years later watching this interview with RG, NO!!!
@Lasuvidaboy So did Barbara Walters. Different person for whom I worked on `Emphasis` a live radio show NBC. I loved Walters 60s persona...can`t relate to her in later years although her interview technique did improve. She never went as far as `Ellen` but then neither did `Sandra Shevey` for whom the question might be `Single or Married?` rather than `Boobs or Co+++?` Arlene was also a presenter on `Emphasis`. There were 5. 3 women and 2 men. I think she still had dark hair. This was late Sixties. But what amuses me about Arlene is the sub-text ie she passed for `Jewish` or what we think of as being `Jewish` but she attended Mt. St..Vincent.. She was Armenian or half Armenian. Her mother might have been a Jewish convert to Catholicism. The only thing which might have tipped me off to the complexity was (other than viewing her vicious interview with Ruth Gordon c1980 was a flippant disdain when upon leaving the show she was presented with a single red rose (by yours truly) But then Barbara Walters was also flippantly disdainful. Thanks for the comment.
The interviewer could barely keep up with her. She was brilliant and beautiful!
If he had been able to keep up , he would have interjected that St John Chrysostom was from ancient Syria.
She is real firecracker!

Look at her- so adorable at her age- I mean pretty and adorable - the way she expresses herself authentically as well.
“I don’t think I’m going to tell you this for scale.” I ❤️ THIS WOMAN!!!
One of the finest actresses of her generation. She could captivate the screen.
So talented! I saw Rosemary's baby and Whatever happened to aunt Alice last week...and she captivated me! Such a gifted actress 💖

@@beatricewoods8377 I said "his hair", but you're right about Ms. Gordon. Her hair is cute and goes well with her face.
She's Timeless much like her character Maude without the death wish of course.
Love her books. I’ve read them over and over again. So honest and unique.

She is full of wisdom, fun, and amazing stories. The interviewer ruined it for me near the end. He was really creepy.
