So very very sad. My mother resembled her so much and she had some of the same stories growing up and she hated her color because she wasn't accepted by either race She hated her yellow skin, but she gave it to me. Now it all makes sense to me. I too experienced the same from my black people. Rejection! I have always been truly accepted more by the white race. I have more white friends who love me as I am. They don't see my color. They love me as I am. I am 71 now and times have changed. I believe the love of Christ has changed the hearts of people who may have been prejudice in their early years. They are all apart of my church home. I am the only black person there. God loves me and they do too. 😊
Kitt said her mother left this world screaming, she didn't want to go yet. I love Eartha too, what an amazing lady, a great person, and true patriot. Wish she had had the same success and adoration of /like a Tina Turner. (her story, her voice, and her endless sex appeal remind me of Tina T) and She did enjoy much success in Europe. Eartha was and is an original... so utterly feminine and a little masculine in a good way. Wish I could.ve seen her somehow! She was friends with James Dean and I'm curious about pics at Paris Ball in NY of Eartha hugging Marilyn Monroe ... Eartha and Dorothy Dandridge were the black M M's.
@badpuppy09 I read that book and that chapter when Kitt, describes how her mother passed away was profoundly frightening to me. It was a great book a love story between daughter and mother.
I love Eartha so much, it breaks my soul that someone precious went through such hell.

Keep these gems coming !
I wonder once she shared this part of her life. How many times she had to keep sharing. Her emotions are there

She died too young
They were not the black Marilyn Monroe. They were Earths Kit and Dorothy Dandridge. They were themselves.
@@lettiegrant9447 Yes, Of course they were uniquely themselves
She was 80!@@nickpavia9021
