We start just north of Norbury on a journey to Audlem. Roz runs a marathon whilst Rob see's a huge fallen boulder which would ruin your day, but as always we finish at a famous canalside Pub the Shroppie Fly
Hi, we are Rozzie & Rob with our lovely cockapoo's Ralph & Rosie. We have given up the rat race, sold our house and have bought a new narrowboat, Thistle & Rose. Our vlogs are showing our learns as we go from bricks and mortar to life on the water. Join us as we literally learn the ropes of becoming continual cruisers on England's 2500 miles of canals & rivers.
Our vlogs are ideal if you have ever wondered what it's like to live on a narrowboat or are considering to make the leap and buy your very own narrowboat. There's always some humour, lots of mistakes and always a few drinks being poured. Subscribe to our channel, ask us a question or just watch our videos as there's something for everyone.
Our music is from CZcams Library, Artist.i.o & Storyblocks via Clipchamp.

Hi Roz, My wife and I are continuous cruisers currently on the Chesterfield (working our way up the Trent to Keadby and then Aire and Calder to Peak Forest). You asked if anyone who watches is also an ultra runner, so I thought I'd let you know that you're not alone :). I've run 100's as well as multi day events - I ran Cape Wrath ultra last year. I'm currently training for a 24 hour race in September - similar to you. I hope your training continues to go well, let me know if you are looking for any 100 mile guidance.
Hi Dan! That’s brilliant, thanks for getting in touch! Wow Cape Wrath - how did you find it? I’m looking forward to my 100 really, just hope I’m doing enough. Where is your 24 event?
Thanks for watching our vlog as well! Enjoy the Trent ☺️
@@thenarrowboatgoodlife Hi Roz, Cape Wrath is hard, but I'd recommend it if you want to really challenge yourself on a multi day event. The Scottish Highlands are amazing and it's a really good way to experience that wilderness.
My 24 hour is called The Joust, it's a 5.5 mile loop which I quite like because it will be easy to get a rest and some food each lap.
My advice for your first 100 is to focus on training for volume and getting adjusted to eating. Ideally you would want to be able to run 20 miles two days back to back and hit around 80+ miles that week. The more weeks you can do that the more your body will be adjusted. A very slow pace is fine, you can walk whenever you want, just do the mileage.
Eating is a common challenge, so getting adapted is important. You need to get used to 24 hours of running and eating. Gels and sweet foods generally don't work for 24 hours. In general you will need to eat some solid food so you need to work out what will work for you. If you are having a high mileage week you can find ways to test what you want to eat and see how it goes.
Let me know if you want to chat more, happy to share what's worked for me. My longest run was 106 miles in 24 hours :)
Thank you! I did my first back to back last week! 20 followed by 17. I have a few more weeekends of back to back this planned over summer.
I deffo need to work on the food thing. I usually use tailwind, sweets and sweet homemade bars - but need to change this up! So that’s my next focus. Current mileage is 50 a week.
I ran The Highland Fling and Devil of the Highlands on the WHW years ago, and it’s my dream to do the whole WHW. Scotland is fantastic for ultras.
Thanks for getting back to me ☺️
Not a run ,pub pub pub or a nice boat trip ,
😂 thanks for watching 👍🏼

Thanks Pete. Had to pull it due to a problem with YT. Should be out later. Hope you’re both well. 👍🏻

Do you think you could live on the boat without having a car? How much hassle is it to keep finding somewhere to leave it?
Oooh a subject we always discuss! Yes we could and some boaters do and get busses/trains if they need to go anywhere. We decided to keep ours as it’s easier with the dogs to go and see family etc. parking is fairly easy you just have to get use to leaving it behind and sometimes in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for watching 👍🏻🍻
Does this video just have silent bits, or is there copyrighted music that's being silenced by YT?
Yes we had used an old music file when editing so had to remove once uploaded! annoying but luckily it wasn't used for long. Thanks for watching 👍🏻🍻
