- A brawl broke out between fans of the Turkish and Georgian national soccer teams ahead of their opening Euro 2024 clash in Dortmund, Germany, on Tuesday, June 18.
These images from Harvey Wheddon, an English football fan visiting Germany for the tournament, show opposing fans hurling objects and throwing punches over a barrier separating the groups at Dortmund’s Westfalenstadion.

I was surprised by the Turks booing on Georgian national anthem and being aggressive towards Georgian fans. As a Georgian, I was even asked whether Turks and Georgians competed against each other as neighbours, but it has never happened. I also read many Turks commenting they are sorry for the way Turkish fans acted. Hope it never happens again, we are friendly neighbours 🇬🇪🇹🇷

This game will be remembered! Historical for Georgia and probably the best match until now. I doubt there will be any other match which will produce so many great goals as this one. Italy-Spain was boring compared to this game. I was rooting for Georgia but I think Turkey will become my team once Georgia are out. We were missing Turkey on big events for a long time and looks like the waiting was worth it. They were busy producing such a great generation. From a Bulgarian #Komsu😊

@@maximkretsch7134 The World Cup was organized at the highest level, modern buildings and advanced technology, and no riots or racism among fans, as happened in German stadiums, which could not even cope with the rainwater drainage. Paris at the Olympics is still using irregular migrants to build its stadiums, you have to check for yourself!

Euro 24 is complete chaos.There is no comparison at all with Qatar's organization of the World Cup. I remember when Germany’s Interior Minister Nancy Faeser cast doubt on whether the Gulf state should host the football World Cup, saying: “There are criteria that must be adhered to and it would be better that tournaments are not awarded to such states.” The current situation is quite ironic!!!

By your logic African teams are racists for not having Indians or white players, Asian teams also racists for not having white and black players, and so on. I thought at first you were joking.
