I think I know what video you are talking about without having to look it up. It seems so familiar because I was in marching band and I needed a knew feeling for my traditional grip, so I searched it up and the first one I saw was from sdjmalik? I swear when you said not too up and not too down and the bouncing or balancing point, I remembered what the video is. Anyways awesome video and pretty helpful.
Well, a lot of traditional grip tutorials have similar ways of teaching. Im not saying it is incorrect or anything like that but a lot of them certainly forgot the practical part of the technique.
