Very good !!!👏👏👏
I think that some drummers (like in my case) use tradition grip because they got used to it from Drum Corps/Marching band. So, tradition grip feel natural after using tradition grip after 12 plus hours of practice each day; at least for me this is true. And my friends who marched Drum Corps say the same thing.
Hi. Say Hi to Chuck for me
Very well explained, thanks
Drake I used to always like you Istanbul traditional until I heard that Mattia!
man that old K sounds incredible
Im really not a fan of sabian artisan elites. they're super inconsistent for their price. for that money a funch or timothy roberts cymbal is a much better choice imo.
in this vidreo i'm garra tarlk... lol
bro this guy is a multilingual multi instrumentalist. his first language isn’t even english. what this guy does is super impressive, as a musician and also as just an intellectual person.
@@noaheslinger1867agreed!
What’s wrong with you? How many languages do you speak? He plays multiple instruments and plays jazz and can can be seen in jazz clubs in Taiwan. The world is more than the US
sick drumming! loved it
Sound pretty jazzalicious
Great drumming it’s that tasty precision jazz sound that you play so well I hear a ton of joe morello in your playing fantastic you are pinpoint definition
Thank you so much!!
To me, nylon tips are better for more big band and present stuff, anything that needs a brighter drum sound Wood tips are better for combo and small ensemble stuff. they have a dryer and more natural sound to them overall which i like better
I’ve had an H4N for years, love that thing. I think Zoom make some of the best field recorders, especially if you need something small for gigs or practice. Smooth hands as well!
It’s a great device!
What head for snare you use?
Collid K1 250 it’s a Taiwanese local brand, but it basically is remo ambassador coated
Bravo! Clean 🫧🫧🫧
Thank you!!!
Nice drive! 🎉🎉
Yes. I love my H6 recording device. My playing improves often when in use. Please consider purchasing one at your local retail outlet.
It has a good “ear” for cymbals as well. Directly above the kit with boom, or directly above your head would be a good option
This H6 recording rivals anything an expensive studio can capture after a whole day of micing up.
maybe thru your phone or computer speakers
Indeed. I love my H6. I place it over my right shoulder on a tripod. It hears what I hear. It is also great for playing along to backing/guide tracks and mixing it in the headphones. You can record those tracks with your drums and it all goes into the DAW on separate tracks. It really is a recording studio on a stick!
Love your work.
Thank you so much!!
💯
ride very nice! I like this sound
❤❤
Many of my old favorite sticks are out of production, meaning that most drummers didn't buy enough from Zildjian, Vic Firth and Promark! So I'm increasing my diameter preference and searching for maple 7A nylon-tip and it is also something that is very difficult to find. I can get maple and wood tip, or hickory and nylon, but maple and nylon, nothing around besides On Stage which have poor reviews.
Hi, what's the size of the drums?
14x6, 12x8, 14x14, 18x14
Very Good Dynamics👏🏼
I love your playing, what are those cymbals, by the way?
Mattia Bourgis 21” 22” PGB 14” hats Thanks for asking!
sick
Very nice playing!
Thanks!
Hello drake, in the jazz sound, is it common to use white frosted bottom drum skins, or do most people use clear skins?
It depends, but coated heads are most commonly used
I like the snare cranked really high and everything else low. I basically only play rock though.
I like the high tuning a little more. The high tuning in contrast doesn't have the same amount of presence as the high tuning. Whereas the high tuning does have a little more high tuning to it.
Damn, I thought the first one was the high 🤣 I'd say that I really like your low tuning (which I consider as super high) with the good drums when I play jazz, but well, when I play metal, evans hydraulic and tuned medium low is the way to go imo. But in your video I'd say your high tuning feets your drum set the best, even if I'd rather chose the low one for jazz 👍🏻
recently i have been digging low tuning. gives me tain vibes
Low. Those drums sing so well with the low tuning. Tuning them high chokes off the resonance.
Holup, why did the chair move by itself
The house is actually haunted.
I thought the first tuning was going to be the high tuning.... my bad... 🤣🤣 I play a lot harder. I don't really have an opinion here. Good technique, though.
Thank you brother!
Whatever Danny Carrey does
i want a pair of nylon sticks now
Thanks for the info and for answering my comment!! I loved your explanation and expertise on this. I’ve always been a wood tip guy, but this makes me interested in nylon tip options. You’re a beast, Drake! ❤
My pleasure brother!!
I think if it sounds good to you then 21” works. As long at the left and right side rides compliment/contrast each other (don’t sound too similar).
Not sure why there is such a trend to bigger and thinner cymbals in jazz. They sound cooler outside a mix but once you add other instruments they don't carry the tempo as well. Most of the classic recordings are higher in pitch. Works better for anything up tempo. For Brian Blade type stuff, obviously the bigger cymbals work better.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. A lot of professional jazz drummers tend to play with bright cymbals while some people think the thinner the “jazzier” which is not the case.
@@drakeondrums That you are thinking about these things at a young age and also recording yourself and listening back as you make these decisions on cymbals, tunings and mic selection, is really going to pay dividends. Most musicians don't think about this stuff until they are older.
I play a 20, 21, and 22 I think I’ve got it covered. I do have a 26” 30th anniversary I play from time to time, and it’s perfect for jazz, actually…. And I do have the 21” jazz ride, which is the best size in that series by ago-. They really nailed it with that one. I wish they made a 21 in the 30th series
Yes, seems dumb to do both a 24 and a 26 but not a 21. The 22" mediums are nice though.
Prefer the second and third, second a little bit more, more precise
nylon tip - interesting choice but love what it does to your sound. Consider making a video talking about the pros/cons of nylon vs wood tip? Love the vids❤
High tuning for me, but it's also what you're playing and not just the tuning that determines your enjoyment.
Thanks brother! That means a ton!!
Amazing ride
High for small group, low for big band.
Exactly!
