  • Every wondered how someone hangs a double door (French Door) by themselves? Sit back and relax and you'll be able to see how I go about it, as well as correct a miscalculation.
    Here's my basic breakdown:
Figure out how out of level the floor is
Cut down a door jamb leg to accommodate unevenness of floor
Take out temporary nails holding door together
    Tip the door in place
Tack four corners in place with a 15 gauge nailer
Plumb up once side of jamb and shim
Match opposite jamb up to the one already plumb
    Nail off all shims
    Cut off shims
If you're interested in getting the same nail gun I'm using in this video, you can buy it from Amazon from the link below. I'm associated with Amazon, so some proceeds of the sale do get kicked back to me.

Also, I love using a 6' long level for these doors because the level lands pretty much right on the top and bottom hinge of the door, so that way if the top or bottom of the jamb is flared in or out it doesn't throw off me trying to get the hinges all plum (you can always fix the bottom and top after). Here's a link to one that's pretty amazing (it's on my wish list).
