- The fight between David and Goliath is one of the most popular stories in the Bible. It is often told as the classic tale of an outmatched underdog defeating the champion. The spiritual lessons from the David and Goliath story, though, go much further than that.
The true hero of the story isn't David. The real hero is God. It was God that defeated Goliath. It was God that encouraged David to face Goliath with just a sling and a stone. It was David's faith in God that then led to his victory.
Two questions for us to consider as we read this story:
1. What is the undefeated Goliath in my life?
2. Have I turned to God in faith that he will help me overcome this challenge?
This video offers a short summary of the David and Goliath story then explains the spiritual lessons and meaning of the story especially for kids.
You can read about David Goliath in 1 Samuel 17.

I seek help from Jesus to fight with Goliath (financial problems in my life). Amen!
Thank you teacher . This is is one of my favourite stories of the Old Testament
David and Goliath is a story of deliverance from death, salvation for Gods people. It points to the coming of Christ and his work on the cross. The deliverance for ALL people! Please don’t minimize this story to the worldly trials we experience. God does everything for His glory and sometimes that means the trial and the suffering continues but we can do it joyfully because salvation is ours. 💕
I agree. The Lord will deliver us, not from stress and struggles, but deliver us from death.
Amen.
Thank you for the summary of the story!! I like to T chart comparison! Clean, clear, concise. Keep going. Well done @thereligionteacher
I’m currently reading first Samuel, this gave me all the validation I wanted that I understood the scripture accurately 😊. Thank you
thanks for the story!
Thank you sir
David / Faith pure and simple - Mustard seed and mountain .
The story is about defeating your ego
Yep I knew it 🥰
Facing fear is golliath in my life..But through i can face it
Mr, Contrary to popular belief, david is not a small man. He is really tall around the height of saul because he offered him his armor in the first place and the reason why the men rehearsed him to saul because his height and stature not considering giant but he is strong enought to possibly hold his own againts him but he is not well experienced to battle. In short david might be around 7'5- 7'8 making goliath only a tall person to him.
David never wins in the real world !
I do 🥰💛💙🌈🙌☀️
A swing and a miss on the David and Goliath story. The story is a metaphor of Jesus overcoming sin. Goliath is sin and David is Jesus in the story. Jesus defeats sin, overcomes the world, with a single blow - crushing the serpent's head. Goliath isn't the unsolved problems in our lives - if that were true then 10 out of the 11 disciples would have used their faith to escape their pending brutal deaths. John was boiled alive and lived so while he died of old age he suffered immensely. We are not promised an easy or good life, just eternal life. Just? The alternative is life without God, outside of His presence.
Psalms is filled with laments and praises, of patiently waiting, panting for His presence. Enduring hardship. That is where we are to find solace. Finding joy in God. Finding the treasure and selling everything to acquire it - to buy the thing of great value.
Why would we root for David? Don’t you know the Philistines were Greeks? Way more cultured
Its not a matter of being cultured, its a matter of having God on our side!
We all know Goliath won this fight. Even I can beat this version of David without any weapons
David represents our Lord Jesus Christ. His father represents God who sent his Son. His weapon represents the Word of God. He was also equipped with faith (absolute trust in God) and protection from God, man-made protection (armor) was not good enough in this case. Deep Learner.
The bible is not ment to be read Literally
